  1. Art, honestly, that belongs on the cover of the kit. Beautiful job on the paint, and the decals, not to mention the fine work on the driver. It's a great model. Congrats.
  2. Tim, the idea is simply to paint all your parts and then choose the right glue for each sub-assembly as Rick mentioned. I think the basics of model building airplanes also apply to model cars.
  3. Chuck, you always find the neatest subjects. Why would it be difficult to do?
  4. You know, even a RUST-ADDICT like Doctor Cranky has to do a few shiny paint jobs every once in a while, it's good for his good looks! LOL!
  5. Yeah, some of these folks are RIDICULOUS!
  6. Ditto on what Rob just said. But also, you are working a great little look into this build. The chop is one of the best I've seen in a while. Keep it going . . . please.
  7. The fun will start soon enough!
  8. Thanks, CRANKYHEADS, building models would not be as much without you guys around. It's fun to build and share work with you all, and it's an honor too! THANK YOU!
  9. Wonderful replica and that paint job is very nice.
  10. Nice work, and the paint job is excellent.
  11. Steve, it's no where to be found . . . it's sold out and I am hoping they will do a reprint, but who knows. And I refuse to pay those ridiculous prices for it. I refuse to pay more than the cover price for a book, or a little more, but not 596 dollars!
  12. Aw, shucks, I am a sucker for these kinds of threads! I'm getting sentimental in my old age! To Harry P for making 2011 such a great year, but here on the forum and through all the hard work you put into feeding lots of eye candy to a lot of people. A big hearty THANK YOU. If I lived in Chicago we would have already established a Thursdays Night Prime Rib at McCormicks! To Donn Yost, for giving me a new arsenal of painting skills with enamels. Thank you, buddy. To all you CRANKYHEADS out there wishing you a great Holiday Season. Looking forward to all the great eye candy you will do in 2012! Best, Doctor Cranky & EYEGORE!
  13. Yes it is, it's enamel all the way. I started out with black primer, then applied several coats of semi-gloss enamel, and then several coats of clear--yes, all Testors. I've buffed and polished it out twice to get rid of a few imperfections and scratches. Then hit it up with NOVUS. I'm going to make a little video in hopes that the shine comes through better.
  14. Oh man, I apologize for not having seen this one and starting a new thread on it. Thanks, and I will now close mine. Great parts pics! Thanks for the FYI Chuck!
  15. Here are a couple of more pics. You can see a couple of rough areas still, but they should come off with another round of polishing . . .
  16. Another week, and another closer push to Holidays and family time, so I am trying to wrap up all this paint work before people start arriving. Like I said, I have two more bodies to go after this 70 Chevelle, a 41 Willys in blue, and a Challenger in Passion Lilac Pearl. Here's the 70 Chevelle after a round of buffing and polishing . . . I still have to work on a few areas, but it's definitely the best black paint job I've ever done to date, thanks in part to this model's body style.
  17. Hum, the only thing I can figure out is the year (s) that it came out. Nixon was in office?
  18. David, that just CRACKED me up and started my Monday off in the right direction, thank you!
  19. I like it. If you rub a little black pastel chalk on the tip of the exhaust, you'll get an extra detail on there. Thanks for sharing.
  20. What a wonderful glass-smooth finish on that paint. Beautiful model. Congrats.
  21. The weathering is PERFECT. Nice details throughout. There's something subtle and beautiful about this build. The paint makes it look super realistic. Great job. Don't be shiny about posting a few more pictures from different angles. Thanks.
  22. Thanks, everyone. Well, I'm coming up on the end of the line. The Challenger and another 41 Willys I am painting in blue and which got saved by being dunked in the Purple Pond. Then it's time to start building as soon as 2012 rolls around!
  23. Walt, did you say "rust?" RUST! Bring it on. This kit turns out great in either case!
  24. Thanks for the input, everyone. I am beginning to hear a consensus about it all, thank you.
  25. Lee, I'm delighted to see you are into numerology like EYEGORE is! I can't wait for 7,666, those are going to be my lucky LOTTO number! LOL!
