THE MODELERS' ANNUAL--Winter 2012
Dr. Cranky replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Oh you bet, and it's worth every penny. At 115 pages--Russ Reinberg, the editor who has a great eye for fabulous eye candy--you get more than your money's worth. Plus I always feel like I learn a whole bunch of new tips and tricks and techniques! -
EYECANDY THURSDAY
Dr. Cranky replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Rick, I know what you are talking about. Heck, you know it's happening all the time when it's become a great inspiration for Hollywood movies. -
EYECANDY THURSDAY
Dr. Cranky replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Rick, that's interesting. What I've heard and read is that in the 80s and 90s both the Japanese and the Germans came over and bought lots and lots of these low riders and took them to their respective countries, so it's no surprise to see these kinds of vehicles at this show. -
Chevrolet Beretta 632 Cid. Bracket Car.
Dr. Cranky replied to W-409's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
With an engine like that you definitely got my attention! Hope to see more progress! -
Hope you enjoy this as much as I did. There's so much inspiration in that room, you might just start a new project. PLEASE NOTE: the video's soundtrack has some very STRONG language, so my advice is to mute the sound!

Did something crazy last night
Dr. Cranky replied to kenb's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
LOL, a little blood on those brake lights mixed in with a drop of FUTURE = INSTANT BRAKE LIGHTS! -
Cesar that's great painting and results with silver. Looks in scale, and perfect. Thanks for the wonderful eye candy on this lovely Thursday morning.

Time to build a new spray booth
Dr. Cranky replied to sportandmiah's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Looks good, but you are obviously going to run the line to the outside for exhaust, right? -
Ira, did you paint them two-tone or did they come like that . . . because if you did it, it looks very good.

STYRENE WITHDRAWAL SYNDROME (S.W.S)
Dr. Cranky replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
All right, my friends--see my other post about HELPING CREATE A STRONGER CREATIVE ATMOSPHERE on this forum. Let's refocus on the subject matter at hand. Case in point, the Holidays are around the corner and lots of family--which is fine with me--but I always feel like I'd like to keep an hour or so during these hectic days to squeeze in some bench time. Of course, when that doesn't happen, then the SWS starts to build up! -
Having had the pleasure of seeing Chopper's work in person at the BAMA show a few years running, I can tell you that no picture could ever do his build justice. His work is MIND-BLOWING, and you can always pick out his builds out of line up anywhere. Whenever Chopper and Steve Boutte bring models to a table, watch out so that your eyes don't POP out of your skulls!

STYRENE WITHDRAWAL SYNDROME (S.W.S)
Dr. Cranky replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Speaking of IGNORE, I had a hard time trying to figure out what I was missing until Andy posted the quote. It's easy to hang around and malign, put down, disrespect, and generally be a negative force in what I think it's one of the most positive, energized, and inspired forums on the planet when it comes to the imagination and creativity. It's also very easy to start trouble on every thread, but I think the majority of the people here are getting wise to the tactics. Harry (as I am sure many other moderators have said it too!) has said it: if you don't like it here or are not getting your money's or intellect's worth, then go else where. How many threads on this forum haven't started with a wonderful focus on the model car building hobby subject matter, and suddenly things turn for the worse and the moderators have no choice but to lock it down to the detriment of everyone else? It's been happening more often than not. I for one refuse to let the few spoil a good thing for the many. -
I believe so, just make sure you shake them up and mix them well. You should get great results, Joe. Remember to please post some eye candy.

A MOST POST-APOCALYPSE 2012 TO YOU TOO
Dr. Cranky replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Bobby, whatever scenario you want to envision is what is going to give your vehicle the right look. I like my TOOTHLESS ZOMBIE story line because I'm trying to create a whole fleet or caravan of interesting vehicles, but whatever you think will work at getting you through the build WORKS just fine! Good luck. -
Actually my mail man beeps when he's got something for me, so he's got me trained like a dog. He beeps, I run out to the mail box like a crazy dog. He puts the mail in my mouth and I run back to the house and sit there panting!

Solid building, keep it going. It's going to result in a nice model. Great kit.

Testor's Acrylics Airbrushing Question
Dr. Cranky replied to regular guy's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Dave, good question. That's what I was going to ask. I use my IWATA ECLIPSE and keep a Windex moist paper towel handy to wipe off the build up at the tip every so often. That usually helps keep everything flowing smooth and the tip clean. -
Oh, I like it. Nice model with all the right bling!

STYRENE WITHDRAWAL SYNDROME (S.W.S)
Dr. Cranky replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
George, your point is well taken, but personally I try to balance building with participation on the forum. In other words, I like to take small breaks from the bench and put some time into the forum. But yes, I think if you are spending all your time on the forum and not building (there's nothing wrong with that), you might want to schedule in more bench time. BUILDING + SHARING = STYRENE BLISS! -
Hey Fellas I missed ya!
Dr. Cranky replied to Romell R's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Glad to hear you are back up and running, just in time for the 2012 ROMMEL'S EYE CANDY FLING FEST! Set up and get the eye candy rolling, buddy. We are watching! Great to have you back indeed! -
Oh, one more thing, when you sit down to watch the DVD, I recommend some popcorn, a nice soft drink, and a comfy chair. You are in for a real treat. After say, the 3rd viewing, you might want to do what I did, which was get my little workbench notebook and take notes too! Because the ideas are going to start flying!

LOL! My neighbors are all hippies, but they carry concealed weapons! Go figure!
