Here's part two. Let me know if you have any questions . . . remember that there are no rules (and therefore no mistakes) when it comes to this method . . .
Here's a better angle . . .
Now, I went ahead and dry brush a mixture of stone and grey randomly to bring out the panel edges and lots of the details . . . which also helps unify all the parts . . . I think you can see it well in these few pics . . .
Remember that nothing has been weathered yet. I still have to add the chipping and some washes, etc . . . we are still far from getting done.
All right folks, the painting continues before the prepping for weathering, which is going to include in the first round a little bit of salting on the chassis . . . here's a round of pictures to give you an idea of where it's at. The body was sprayed with a thinned out rust . . . and the chassis has been give several coats of rust and brown . . .
I will, Jose . . . when the time comes. Right now I am still involved int he process of all these paint layers . . . the weathering process is still a few days off . . .
Thanks, Kane . . . this is the first build in a long time where I have to stop fifteen times per step in order to video and photograph . . . which is perhaps why it's coming along well, there's plenty of time for each coat of paint to dry!
Stay tuned in . . .
Thanks, Harry, it's what makes it fun and addictive . . . the process and the discoveries!
Tony, you bet . . . while I allow the paint to dry and cure over night, I am going to start working on the chassis . . .
Doctor Cranky is salivatin' for this one to get some weathering but I'm going to start the weathering with the chassis and the Zombie crucher/crusher/roller first!
Here are a couple of more pics, hope you won't mind:
All right, the moment of truth . . . the unveiling of the paint . . . I have to say I like it but now it's just crying out for some chipping and weathering (LOL! A build is never finished!)
Here's the body before masking . . . I mixed a little bit of khaki and the med grey and then using the Micron C I added a bit more interest around details and panels . . .
Here is another good picture that shows the three colors being used. Remember the body already has 3 grey shades in the modulation. The tanks in the back have the medium-light shade, and the turret is still in the medium grey shade, and this gives you an idea of the subtlety. I hope you can see it.
Another angle:
And one more:
Let me know what you think, please . . . there's still PLENTY OF MORE WORK to be done on this one!
Here's some of the grey basecoat going on . . . there will be three shades of grey: medium, medium-light, and light.
This picture perfectly shows the color gradation (CM) between the three stages . . . from light to dark . . .
A couple of new vids went up, but I had some difficulty with sound so I just edited the videos down to show how the next two coats of paint went on the model . . . my Iwata Eclipse is rising to the challenge once again, and the Vallejo Model Air paint is working beautifully, stay tuned in for more pictures . . .
