  1. I totally agree with Mike. The awards are not as important (or rather they mean less) than the chance to see old friends and admire what other builders are doing, or have done in the year. I have to say, my first NNL East experience took place last year and as Ken Hamilton promised me, it was a mind-blowing experience. Before then I had never seen that many great models in one room. Not to mention the aftermarket vendors that gather there too!!! Returned home wowed and humbled, for sure!!!
  2. Tim, brother, I love the idea of the Sharpies at shows . . . I think I will try it . . . that will make it extra cool . . . you'll be the first to sign it in BAMA!!!
  3. Raul, the figure in the above picture is just for fun . . . though I am painting a couple of figures that will go on the finished diorama, which, as you can see, is getting near done. Enjoy.
  4. I don't build too many of them. I think this is my second or third. Hey, the fact that you can sell your work is icing on the cake, you know. Well done.
  5. This is one of those builds where your jaw hurts after a while from saying WOW so many times!!! Smooth, clean, beautiful finish.
  6. Here's one I had build a couple of years ago that got a few folks building PBLs!
  7. Hey, Dub, my friend, how do you think I started building dioramas. I was building all these model cars and then one day I thought, that's it, I need a place to photo op them . . . and I started building a road with some grass, some rocks, next thing you knew . . . well, here I am building both now. It's all good, right? It's all part of the fun. Raul, I never throw away the lids to peanut butter containers because I've always felt they make the neatest base.
  8. Yep, thanks. It's a little pink one I picked up at Wal Mart. These kinds of dioramas would be good too for Hot Wheels. They are just pure fun!
  9. Some sweetheart tourists come to Amarillo to get off the road and photo op in neat places . . . While others get off the beaten path to come check out their favorite year Caddy . . . And yet for others it's a promise to come check out the famous site before getting into another wreck . . . Nothing says automobile fun like a Peanut Butter Lid diorama!!! Enjoy.
  10. I just started this build based on a photograph a friend of mine (Tim Kustom) took at Cadillac Ranch, the famous Americana locale . . . Part of the fun was cutting the model in half and burying it . . . now the other half is going to be painting it! Yet another build in my on-going series on roadside attraction dioramas . . . Stay tuned in for more progress pictures . . .up next is some fun painting with airbrush, brush strokes, and markers!!! More pics in the Fotki. Thank you.
  11. Thanks, gents, there are lots of inspirational ideas to be had when you start thinking of vehicles that are used as signs, to sell something, by the roadside.
  12. Hello, Folks, just to let those of you who are interested in building models and dioramas know that there's an exciting new challenge going on!!! For more inforamtion on what a RAD is, check this out: http://z13.invisionfree.com/B_n_B_Auto_Bui...?showtopic=6818 I also double posted this in the dio section, but I remind you this build is just not for dios only. Any vehicle that can be used as a sign will work!!!

  15. Great job, Dave. Fabulous finish!!!
  16. No, you would have thought of this: This is a place called CARHENGE. Unbelievable!!!
  17. Very cool. Love the graphics and the color. I think this one will get lots of attention on the showbench!!! Very cool!
  18. Thanks for the compliments, fellas . . . this one was fun, but I went with my imagination rather that work from a picture . . . I am sure there are all sorts of great eye candy all over the less-traveled highways (the blue highways) in the country . . .
  19. Ha! I loved that . . . I think there will be a whole series of these "Roadside Attractions." Thanks for the kind words and the support. Stay tuned in . . .
  20. Just in time for valentines . . . this my latest build so far in 2008 . . . I would like to do a whole series of these "roadside attractions." Of course, this one is not based on a real attraction, though it is extremely possible . . . Enjoy, lots more pics in my Fotki.
  21. Mr. Gregg, have you tried running cane stalk through a Juiceman's Juicer? That stuff is really good for the energy!!!
  22. Here's an idea Mr. Gregg--you should start your own distrubution of Lion's KONA through the magazine. I haven't had that great coffee in years. Or you could just send me some!
  23. Love it . . . this is a great build out of a great kit. WOW!!!
  24. Geez, that's beautiful . . . I almost had to reach over for the Kleenex!
  25. I love 'em both. Great job!!!
