  1. Ya I agree with the guy above. Its looking really good so far! The way I look at it if I mess up or somethin theres always a way to strip it down and start over.
  2. Truck looks great! Hey what ever happened to that other peterbilt you were workin on this winter? Did you finish it yet?
  3. Just wanted everyone to know the best product for stripping tamiya spray paints is Dawn Power Dissolver. Hands down.. The other purple stuff or alcohol doesnt touch it without a lot of work. All you need is a tub and submerge the model for about a day. Then use a stiff bristled brush and it will peel right off there primer and all. You can buy it at Wal-Mart. I've been frustrated tryin to find something that works and this stuff really does.
  4. I was just wondering what are good points in building a model to share pics with the people in this forum? Im currently working on an amt Kenworth W-925 logger.
  5. Wow that is impressive! You sure build a lot of nice logging trucks. Always enjoy seeing log trucks on here because its what I like to build and what i drive every day. If I remember correct you built another logger that was a Goodell truck. Very nice!
  6. The best things I've found for sripping enamel paints are Castrol super clean in the purple jug and Westley's Bleche-Wite white wall tire cleaner. Can get either one at Wal-Mart or your auto parts store.
  7. I was actually thinking about trying sand or railroad ballast.. Got to thinking and when water is frozen it expands...
  8. Just wondering if anyone has made curved straight stacks out of aluminum tubing and what the best way of bending the tube is without smashing it? Thanks Ryan
  9. Im building an old AMT Kenworth W-925. Gonna be Tamiya light green with black fenders on the hood. Not sure what the best way for masking those off is.... Anyone had any experience with doing somethin like that. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks Ryan
  10. He thats lookin really good! like the plumbing work you did on the motor. Might try that myself on the Kenworth W900 logger Im workin on. What did you use to plumb it with?
  11. Huh never woulda guessed that, but it must work if that guy used it. Hopefully paint will stick to it. might try it on a scrap piece of plastic first or something to make sure.
  12. I was just reading an article on Tamiya acrylic paints and it said to use a product called Future first between a laquer paint and tamiya acrylic paint when airbrushing... Just wondering if anyone has heard of that product and where I could buy some? Thanks for any of your help? Ryan
  13. Hey you did a great job stretching the frame and the stinger looks good! Lookin like a real one should look. I drive one every day and am building a logger myself of my dads first truck. I'll have to post some pics when i get back to it. But its lookin really good bud.
  14. Alright thanks guys. If I were to use brake fluid which is the best kind to use. And I think i will give Pine sol a try since ive had luck removing enamels with it in the past.
  15. Hello all I was just wondering if anyone has had any luck removing Tamiya paint and primer from their car bodies? I've tried purple bath and easy off oven cleaner and the paint hasnt seemed to budge much...
  16. I was just wondering if it would work to spray Krylon paint over Duplicolor paint? Tried it on an old paint can and it didnt seem to bother it much, but when i sprayed duplicolor over krylon it made it kinda wrinkle up like it ate it a little... Any expertise with this would be greatly appreciated.
  17. Actually I found the Western hood on Spaulding Trading and Shipping, but you can find it also at Sourkrauts and ebay sometimes has them for sale. Cost me around 22 or $23 with shipping if I remember correct.
  18. Just wanted to share a pic of my current project Im working on. Its a 1977 Mack RL700L logger. Just painted the cab and almost got the hood finished. little bit of touch up and lining the stripes up and i think it will look good.
  19. Anyone have an amt Kenworth W925 with the tortion bar suspension they would be willing to sell? Or know of anywhere other then ebay where i might be able to find one. Must be a pretty rare kit to find these days because i cant even hardly find one on ebay.
  20. Good looking bulldog youre building there! What did you use to make the muffler gaurd with? Looks great.
  21. Alright thank you very much. Does the automotive primer work ok under the acrylic paint? I take it you've used modelmaster paints before. I just wasnt sure if you had to use the modelmaster stuff or if any primer would work...
  22. I was just wondering if anyone could help me out on an airbrushing question... I wanna try out some modelmaster acrylic paint, but i've never airbrushed before and was just wondering if you need to thin it at all or if it goes on right out of the bottle and what kind of primer can you use under it... I have the modelmaster primer, but wasnt sure if you airbrush that on too and if it needs to be thinned... Any help would be much appreciated.
  23. Hey don't know if it will help at all, but i saw 3 different types of Diamond T truck conversion kits on American Industrial Truck Models.... Not sure on the years or if its what you're looking for, but just thought i would pass that onto you. www.aitruckmodels.com
