  1. You do some nice work Marc!!! this charger is gonna be awesome, looks great so far. I wish it was a fully detailed but I guess I'll have to settle for a curbside. It's still gonna great, keep up the good work.
  2. I appreciate the kind words guys. gasserfreak: I have the swc version I'll building sometime this year hopefully, and the windows aren't red I actually used clear windows from another 41 and tinted them tamyia orange with a paint brush and gravity and they suprisingly turned out alright to better replicate the real car. I'm working on an integra, a Gremlin modified, and a Buick Wildcat right now
  3. Wow what a great looking nostalgic street rod. Your mods are super clean and that chop is just right. Great Work!!!
  4. I remember this car it was concept. If remember right I believe they sold this car at the barret jackson a few years back. It is a neat concept I don't think it would work in a winter climate where slush and ice would build up on the rockers, it looks cool though.
  5. This is John Mazmanian's 41 willys. I was trying to replicate the car from 1966. The only thing that is incorrect in my eyes is the ladder bar suspension and I realize that, but I wasn't going to chop up the frame just to change the suspension. I think the only other thing I changed were the front wheels and different windows from another 41. It took me about a month to build the car. It had been sitting on the shelf for about 8 years until I finally decided to build it. This was my first attempt at bare metal foil I feel it was a success for a first timer. Hope you enjoy it!!! The best reference pic I could find online of the real car My version
  6. So stopped by the Hobby Lobby today and they just got in this new model. The STINGAREE!!! It's one of AMT's flashback models. Now I'm not a big corvette fan but the box art on this kit is pretty cool. I haven't opened yet and I'm not going to until I build it (sorry) . I have to many other projects that I'm working on right now so this one is not gonna be built for a while. Just thought I would let you know its out and share a few pics of the box.
  7. Nice work on this one!!! The transition from a ranchero to the sedan delivery is pretty cool. Nice paint work too.
  8. I assume the hvac pipes and ducts are connected to many different dorm rooms thats why your neighbor would be smelling it.
  9. You say you are painting in your dorm room. I can see painting in an apartment in a spare room but not a room where you have to sleep those fumes linger for a long time and the fumes aren't good for you, I hate sound like a parent. I know from a little experience. I tried to paint in my bedroom once one weekend my parents were gone, not a good idea. It was 0-10 degrees outside and I ended up having the window open all weekend with a fan in the window and the door closed. Most of the fumes were gone by that sunday evening but it still stunk a little, my parents didn't notice though. I would try to find somewhere outdoors to paint if you live in a dorm room and are also having problems with neighbors smelling it. Remember your body can only take those fumes for so long before you will have health issues down the road. I try wear a mask all the time when I paint now. Good luck!!!
  10. This is a really nice build, I like it alot I can respect the time and effort that went into it. It looks great!!! I'd like to see the outdoor pics to see that paint really shine. Do you have any engine pics?
  11. I don't have to big of a problem with dust. I spray my models on an enclosed deck with carboard laid down as long as it is at least around 40 degrees outside(I spray it quick and bring it inside unless it is around 70 degrees or higher then I will let it sit). I usually sweep the area clean and let the dust settle for a while before I spray. My personal opinion is tacking your model with a tack cloth really helps out with keeping it clean from dust and also the amount of distance you spray your paint from the model. I always use rattle cans and I usually spray fairly close with quick swift passes. The only time I spray farther away is when I sand the clear and put on a dry coat of clear on it so it doesn't run let it flash and then spray a wet coat. You could probably do this in a garage. I look at it this way you could be the best painter in the world with the best facilities but without proper paint prep your paint jobs aren't gonna turn out. Paint prep is the most important step in building any car because the paint is what everybody notices. Personally I wouldn't spend three to four hundred dollars on a paint booth for building model cars, but hey thats my opinion what do I know, do whatever you want.
  12. Cool concept!!! They should think about making these instead of the dakota the box is probably around same length as the crew cab dakota. I remember seeing a rampage quite a few years ago back from the early 80's, what a piece of scrap iron. This would be much cooler with the 6.1 hemi and it looks a whole heck of alot better than the old ones. Nice work!!!
  13. wow!!! mind blowing build. very creative, I never invisioned anything from the 30's looking like this. Awesome Man!!!
  14. I love these Henry J's there so different and cool. they make great little street rods, looks like you have yourself a nice one here. very cool!!!
  15. Wow dude this thing is dope. meticulous detail and it only took 3 months very impressive. That amp rack is pretty sweet!!!
  16. Each paint company has their own recommendations for what primer to use and what grit to sand the substrate to(in this case it would be your model). They also tell you what size gun you should use for your product, for primer the gun size is bigger in most cases from a 1.5 to a 1.8 and for base and clear its anywhere from a 1.2 to a 1.4 and in alot of cases its the gun you feel the most comfortable spraying products with. they also tell you about flash times between coats and dry times. Whoever supplied you with the paint should have the manufactuers paint pages as I like to call them if you follow their recommendations everything should be fine. When I painted 1:1 cars I used the ppg system so I can't tell you much the dupont system. When using automotive paints you will want to degrease the model, I used a product called dx 103 its made for plastics specifically you can probably get it at your local auto body supplier.
  17. This thing is just plain cool a two door sedan from five window coupe awesome. looks great!!!
  18. WOW !!! My mouth is watering. This is my favorite bodystyle of the charger and this would dream to have in 1:1. This car is gonna be amazing. Awesome Idea and great work!!!
  19. nice viper!!! I have seen a neon green viper this style going down the interstate. I like your choice in color its something different and different is good in my mind
  20. Nice builds!!! I hear you man on the job front I am in the same situation right now luckily my family is very supportive. I know for me building models keeps my mind out of the gutter, it keeps me focused on something I like to do instead of the bad situation with the economy.
  21. I am not a fan of these european style cars but man this is awesome. Those wheels totally set this build off. very cool!!!
  22. This is one of my dream cars right here and you did it up nicely. I love that hood and the exhaust out the side is a nice touch. Almost like I would want it. Nice work!!!
