  1. I picked up that book gasser wars I learned alot. Dick Bourgeois was the driver for John. Alright so I am I going to try and get this thing painted in the next month and hopefully finished. I'm going to build the 1966 (A/Gas) version of the car with the red headlight lenses and transparent orange windows. Thanks for your help guys!!!
  2. I found some pictures of some other models some guys have done It looks like they made the transition to more yellowish amber colored windows and clear headlights. I did find a few more pics of the willys with red headlight lenses even though a few of them were black and white. So I'm gonna go with the amber windows I have some transparent orange I'll test for the windows but I'm still debating on clear or red headlight lenses. Here are the pics of those models.
  3. The decals on your pic are fully accurate to the kit. I googled the name dick bourgeois which on your pic is below the passenger window and that decal comes with the kit but it says it is optional. All I found was that he raced funny cars in the 70's. I'll have to do more research I wonder if he was maybe the mechanic for John. I appreciate your help man, I'm not old enough to know the details about some of these older drivers so any help is well appreciated.
  4. I had not seen that pic kingiguana. The windows still look amber in your picture but the headlight lenses do look red. I'm sure he ran quite a few these willy's. I think the pic I had is probably a restored John mazo willy's. I'm guessing it is probably the one on display at the nhra museum.
  5. Alright so right now one of my projects is Big John Mazmanian's 41 Willy's. This kit comes with red headlights and a transparent red windsheild and rear window. I would like to replicate the real car the best I can. All of the pictures I can find of the real car the windows are more of an amber or orange and the headlights are clear like posted in the picture below. My question is has anybody seen the car in person or know about this car? Did Big John ever run red headlights and are the windows red or amber on the 1:1? http://i711.photobucket.com/albums/ww118/horsepoweraddict

  8. Very true Harry. I'll probably just cut a new windsheild using the original as a template like you say, but it might be fun to experiment with jbwelda's idea just to see if it would work. Thank's for all of the ideas guys I really appreciate it.
  9. This thing is awesome. very clean build. any chance we can see some engine pics?
  10. Very true I'm not going to use it anyway so I might as well take a shot at fixing it and if it doesn't work oh well. Thanks for the tip jbwelda I think I will experiment with that.
  11. Last week I opened my color me gone dodge 330 kit to find that the windsheild was cracked. Being there are some very smart and innovative minds here I thought I would see if anybody had any ideas on fixing a crack in a windsheild without replacing it or making one of my own. Just thought I'd throw it out there.
  12. Reminds me of the Boyd Coddington mustang. It really looks sweet I like it, great detail.
  13. I picked mine up from fairfield mint it was a little more money than $25 but I think its really cool, plus I collect alot of diecast cars.
  14. nice set of trucks you have there. I love building trucks there is so much you can do with them mainly because they have a full frame seperate from the floorboard. I prefer building the trucks over cars.
