  1. Once again, very nice! You might be the first modeler to correctly paint the rear bumber coves body colour.
  2. Amazingly, again no MkII Ford Zephyr!
  3. 53 Hudson, 50 Oldsmobile... are we on a path that might eventually lead to an MkII Ford Zephyr/Zodiac? (Or did I forget my pills this morning.....)
  4. Really nice! I've got one of these in progress and will use these pix as inspiration.
  5. Thanks so much for that list Christian. Some of these I know and I attend their meetings. The Friday Night Cruisers spring classic car meeting in Oensingen attracts on average around 2000 US cars and I never miss it.
  6. Very nice! Lots of detail and yet the overall effect is subtle and convincing.
  7. Thanks for the info but the IPMS Switzerland is very much for military modelers. I do check out what's going on occasionally but I still claim there are no model CAR shows here. (But there are some really good shows and historic race meetings for real cars).
  8. I played in bands from 1965 till into the 90s, professionally for most of the 70s. Still play my Telecaster most days.
  9. Another beautiful wagon from you.
  10. You are really one very gifted modeler. All aspects of your model are outstanding.
  11. I've never heard of a model car show being held in either country I've lived in. Sniff....sigh.....
  12. I'm not overly skilled but I'm something of a perfectionist. If I can't get it right I'll do it again and again. If I really get stuck I'll abandon a kit and start something else rather than build it badly. I guess you could say it's a strength and weakness.
  13. Getting the finished sub-assemblys, ie. interior, chassis and body to mate with each other often threatens to defeat me. Decals. I try to avoid them. Polishing out black or dark paint jobs. PS. That the Dr. and John Teresi say they don't know much about engines is VERY encouraging.
  14. You said it's only styrene but in your case that's like Picasso saying it's only canvas! Thanks for sharing your ideas, methods and general madness. May your insomnia find no cure! (Great photography too)
  15. So many things have been rectified over the years (eg. bagged glass, chrome and tyres) but I also agree with Bill here. I'd add flash on chrome parts too. (umm.. that is, I'd leave it off.. umm... you know what I mean).
  16. It's a shame about the Belvedere, one of my favourite cars. I would buy it again if AMT/Round 2 would deal with that bend themselves. The side trim and roof would have to be fixed too but it would then be one of their best kits. As it is I'll never build it. But I agree, the Savoy looks great.
  17. I built all sorts of subjects as a child in the 50s but it was Monogram's 1.24th 1936 Ford that really got me hooked. I was 13 and really stoked that I could build my own version. I brush-painted it white and used the red decals and all the custom parts. It was by far the best model I'd ever built. I bought the 34 Ford as soon as I was finished and the Model A's after that. The box art for all these was stunning.
  18. I agree with all of the above. Beautiful paint and foiled like a pro.
  19. Nearly all my builds don't wear the kit-supplied tyres. Either because the car needed whitewalls that weren't in the kit or the wheels didn't fit the tyres. Amazing how often one or both these things apply - I've got a shoe-box full of kit tyres.
  20. I was relieved to be promoted from "looker" to "member" recently. I had a guilty conscience being a looker. I felt like a voyeur or a peeping Tom!
  21. A man goes into a library, walks up to the counter and says: "I'd like a hamburger please". The librarian answers, "I'm sorry sir, this is a library". "Oh, sorry," says the man, now whispering, "I'd like a hamburger please". The same man then goes to a tobacconist, walks up to the counter and says: "I'd like a hamburger please". The tobacconist answers, "I'm sorry sir, we only sell things for smokers here". "But I DO smoke!" says the man.
  22. Thanks for your suggestions guys. I have ModelCarGarage gauges but found them too difficult to cut out nicely. Maybe I'll have another go with a punch. This is more or less what I've been doing for years, chopping up left over decals from car kits. It works fairly well - just don't look too close!
  23. I've searched high and low and found zilch..... ....who makes a sheet of under-hood decals (like warnings, oil filter etc?) Also a selection of (generic) dashboard decals would be useful. So many of my kits don't have this stuff.
