  1. Those are pretty different moods you get into Chuck! Specially love the Plymouth, one of my all-time favourite wierdos - and I have one in my stash too.
  2. Which is surely why Mobius chose the Hudson and Chrysler, and Revell the 49 Olds and 57 Ford sedan. All have a racing pedigree. So a 52/54 Lincoln can't be that far off, right?
  3. Me too..... my favourite thread right now.
  4. Beautiful, clean work and interesting variations. Great photography too!
  5. Great to see those bird kits again. I did quite a few as a kid and was planning on becoming an ornithologist. Then I got interested in "birds".
  6. Christian, if you were King of the World it would be a much better place!

Thanks for the info Big Daddy. Unfortunately I'm allergic to IPA but I'll experiment with something else.

Nice work, great paint! At first I was thinking Tamiya rattle can but then I realised X15 is acrylic in the bottle. Would you mind describing your method? Like what do you use for thinner and what ratio, how long between coats etc?
  9. I'm guessing these were all scale models.
  10. In 1975 I sold a 64 VW and saw it by chance 10 days later on the side of the road. The rear half was all blackened and still smouldering and the new owner too distraught to notice me sneaking past. Embarassing.
  11. Fantastic job! First time I've seen this kit built. I found this Dutch specialty site for 1.32 scale kits recently: http://www.hollandplasticmodelkits.nl/hoofdframe.htm Prices are over the top but worth a look just for the box art.
  12. Personally I think originality gets slightly overrated in the model car world. If you take an old perfume bottle and add tank tracks and an Allison V-16 it'll get featured in the contest annuals for sure. A realistic looking factory stock has less chance, although it may have required more creativity and skill to get it to look like that.
  13. Fantastic job! Beautiful colour, very effective and precise detailing, specially on the louvres.
  14. I agree 100%. Wouldn't this be the easiest and cheapest way to improve a re-released kit? (Johan did it with the last release of their 59 Rambler wagon - 3 new sheets of decals!).
  15. ...when you get into a bidding frenzy on Ebay, spend way more than you intended, but finally get that rare, holy grail kit you've wanted since you were twelve. And then they re-release it the next month with the original box art.
  16. I would withhold wages of the entire staff until they come up with PERFECT whitewall tyres for ALL kits, new or re-released. I would fire the guy who's been printing thin whitewalls off center for decades. Ditto for the guy who's never noticed that wide white inserts should have an offset curvature to them. I resent having to buy Modelhaus tyres for nearly every AMT/Revell/Johan kit I build. Having said that, the latest Round 2/Amt 25 Ford T kits have great pad-printed tyres and the Revell Rat Rod big'n'littles were a major leap forward.
  17. I would be wondering why the word "sealed" is in inverted commas. This COULD mean subliminaly "not really sealed" or "resealed". But that's just me - paranoid, suspicious......
  18. I remember enjoying the mag profile. Outstanding work on both of these.
  19. I wanted my avatar to have a hint of mystery..... ....and the foto was taken straight after the face lift.
  20. Sad news. I was just old enough to sneer slightly at the TV show but some of the songs were great and have stood the test of time.
  21. Sehr schön! You and Ben really nailed it. That colour is so right.
  22. Around 1990, as intersest in model cars was fast fading, I made an offer to a local model shop; If they would halve the price I would take all their Johan kits off their hands. I got about 20 models for 9 franks each, at the time about $6.50. There was one each of most of the then current re-issues - eg. 60 DeSoto, the Cadillacs, Dodges, Plymouths and so on. The only double was the AMC Rebel.
  23. Tommy, where did you get the wire wheels on that 32 Highboy (the Widow)?
  24. Looks to me like he's already shaved all the trim.
  25. I agree with everybody - beautiful, precise masking/painting, and the subtle alterations you started with were really worth the effort.
