  1. How about this one from The Vatican? (They have a surprisingly high crime rate.)
  2. That's the best fitting Carson top I've ever seen on a model.
  3. The best down-under-outstanding-and-unique-achievement-dog-story I know involved a Sydney truck driver who always took his dog on long hauls. On one trip he stopped for coffee on the way home, still 1200 miles from Sydney. As always, he left the dog in the truck but when he came back it was gone. He spent an hour searching but his tight schedule forced him to give up and drive on. 3 months later he hears a fimiliar bark outside his suburban Sydney home....
  4. My heart swells with pride at the outstanding and unique achievements of my fellow countrymen.... (Harry is just jealous)
  5. Corey, would you accept an arm and a leg for that Imperial?
  6. How about $1400 to fit a new starter motor.
  7. A Mercedes owner who takes his car for a service will look at the bill and realize he's also been serviced.
  8. Fantastic work as always! And I agree with Geoff - it would be great to have this in 1.24th plastic. (I do have a pretty nice 1.24th diecast.)
  9. Very nice work! (How I wish there were more English cars in 1.24th plastic. Surely a "Moggie" like this would turn a profit.)
  10. That is REALLY nice! Love the colour. One of my all-time favourite kits.
  11. Beautifully built Fords - all of them favourites!
  12. Great looking Epi! I also have the same "problem" - bought a 1980 Yamaha SBG1200 a month ago. Wonderful instrument, not way different from your guitar in concept and design and mine is also black with white binding.
  13. I never saw my grandfather drive but his secretary chauffeured him around in the company's 1948 Hudson. American cars weren't all that common in NZ and apparently the car could draw a small crowd in Wellington city. My father drove a 48 Dodge, also a company car.
  14. This house is on Front St. about half a mile south of where my brother lived until Sandy hit. His house is also unliveable, the ground floor and contents basically gone.
  15. I agree with you 100% Tye! I've bought several re-issues of kits I already had, but the Round2 version was so nicely restored and (retro) boxed I had to have it. And to anybody listening in at Round2 - keep up the good work! Let the others do new stuff, you've got enough goodies in the cellar.
  16. I really like this. Nice to see a rare kit built well. Great detail work, specially the grill and lettering.
  17. (Don't know how that smiley with shades got into the above post and I can't edit it out)
  18. To date I have bought 116 old and new kits and promos off US ebay with three mildly problematic transactions: a) A sealed 1964 Cadillac - but the parts were nearly all off the trees. Can happen but I'm still wondering if it had been re-sealed. B - A 1959 El Camino sent in an envelope - box got crushed a bit. My fault because I didn't notice the seller had said at auction he would sent it like that. c) A Camaro promo in decidedly worse condition than the auction photo and description. The seller had sent the wrong one and resolved the issue by paying return postage and sending me the right one. We all make mistakes and I actually felt sorry for him - instead of a small profit he had a substantial loss. All but 2 packages were sent without insurance, all were well packaged (except the El Camino) and arrived within a reasonable time frame. My latest purchase, an X-EL 59 Chrysler was sent to my brother's NJ beach-front house. (Many US sellers won't send overseas.) He had to abandon the house before he could post it on as Sandy rolled in. He sent photos today and the bottom floor is severely damaged, the entire contents washed away. He tells me the model is on the second floor so there's still hope I'll get it one day. Of course he has other concerns right now.
  19. This year I learned to be more content with the standard I normally achieve - ie, not to fret about the inevitable glitches that "grace" every model I've ever finished. That was more of a step forward than it might sound.
  20. Very nice work, specially your paint separation. If you like Bugattis and are visiting France the Auto Museum in Mulhouse is a must see. http://www.citedelautomobile.com/en/home
  21. The kit that really got me hooked was Monogram's 1936 Ford back in 1962. Not an overly complex kit but state-of-the-art at the time and the instructions have rarely been bettered. Particularly useful were the photos of the 5 possible versions and that photos of sub-assemblies etc were used throughout to compliment the drawings and text. Even a then 12 year-old couldn't go wrong. I think you have to fast-forward 50 years to see this quality again - the Mobious Hudson. I haven't built the kit yet but the instuctions make for a very good first impression.
  22. My brother lives in a beach house in NJ and has a Johan 59 Chrysler promo that he was about to send on to me. (Yes, I'm worried about his house too) Seriously though, my thoughts are with all those threatened.
  23. Very nice work as always! Will definitely order one of these now.
