  1. Sorry, no, I haven't photographed any of my models yet and the Jag is still in the box. But after checking it out out more thoroughly I see what Sonny means - less underside detail but I still claim it has the quality and character of the Fujimis.
  2. If you wish Fujimi had done a Jaguar XJS in this series then look for the Hasegawa kit(s). They have a similar parts count, quality and general realism.
  3. I guess nice paint comes first but when they stop making BMF I'll stop making models (or use the kitchen foil method).
  4. Very well said Tulio, I agree with all of the above. And your outstanding model proves your point.
  5. I really enjoyed that. Great coverage, thanks for posting.
  6. Art, speaking of versatility, wouldn't a 1952 Lincoln fit the bill? It could do everything the Moebius Chrysler and Hudson kits have done.
  7. Hi carsntrucks4you Thanks so much for all that info, much appreciated. BTW There's certainly no lack of interest in 1:1 US cars here and there are some great shows in summer. The biggest is put on by the Friday Night Cruisers in Oensingen, between Basel and Bern. On average there'll be 1500 to 2000 pre-1975 American cars there and I never miss it.
  8. Is there such a thing as a pair of tweezers that will actually hold a part and not propel it into orbit?
  9. Great to hear about car modelers in NZ and I've just signed up to modelpetrolhead. And thanks for the German link - will try and make it to Frankfurt next time. Can someone supply a date already? Car modeling seems to be pretty much a non-event here in Switzerland. The few specialist shops that there were are long gone and I've never heard of a model car club or show in 30 years. What models I have seen have been top notch but the emphasis seems to be on planes and military. But maybe my ear isn't close enough to the ground and I'd love to be proven wrong.
  10. 57-58 Studebaker Golden Hawk (that's two of us now so I expect to see it soon) 57 Desoto (from the AMT 57 300c) Morris Minor (Tamiya)
  11. Wonderful!!!!!
  12. Thanks Chuck. Hadn't thought of that but I have one and will check it out. I suppose I was initially too fixed on the idea that I needed to start with a 4-door.
  13. Thanks Bill. I have considered that kit and I have two of them so it might be the best starting point. I've also considered the 58 Plymouth which I'll never build anyway because of it's slightly wierd body proportions. Like I said, I'm not that concerned about accuracy and wouldn't bother about seat patterns etc. As long as can get something that fits without Juha Airio-style modification and looks more or less right for the era.
  14. I probably would build more models if I'd never discovered this site but they wouldn't be as good.
  15. Outwardly it's a 1955 Morris Oxford with a new front clip.
  16. I have an X-EL 1959 Chrysler 4-door promo without an interior. Does anyone make the original interior in resin? (Modelhaus doesn't) Or, can anyone suggest a 4-door interior that might work as a starting point? I'm not overly concerned about complete accuracy so any 4-door suggestions might help. I can't find anything even close in my stash.
  17. I don't come to the Big Boyz section often enough. The Merc is one truly beautiful model, the interior mods are specially tasteful and realistic.
  18. You must have been making models before you could walk to be that good at 18.
  19. First class! I bet I'm not the only one to see your model and think, wow, gotta get one of these.
  20. For some reason I also found that blue really annoying. After trying to calm myself with a whole bottle of whiskey I was in such a rage that I strangled our cat. Now I feel better and actually really like your model.
  21. Wow!! To get one of these kits to look that good takes serious talent.
  22. Why do some people think that I'm somehow morally bound to build every kit I buy? I ACTUALLY LIKE OLD UNBUILT KITS!!! I feel no shame in saying that out loud and now that I've come out of the closet I feel a great weight has been lifted from my shoulders!! I know that most of you will now look away in embarrassment when I post but I must live my own life the way I see fit.....
  23. Beautiful build-up Sean - gotta get one of these.
  24. I'm like generally you know like pretty tolerant of the evolution of you know the english language but like you know......
