  1. I am going to toss my hat in the ring. No promise that it will be done but I am going to try.
  2. I second the detailed gears for the belt drive and different tanks. I would like to see a carb set up so it can be seen.
  3. I am building the UT Opel and need some info. In the picture below, what color should the two electrical boxes be that are on the platform? Is there any decal that would make them look more realistic. Also, what is the thing that is at the left of the boxes. Plus the smaller box on the floor. Any color ideas or decals or wires or hoses that I should add. I just can't find pictures of the interiors of these cars anywhere. Thanks for any help.
  4. Thanks. I didn't realize that I had a space between them. That was my first test of paint flames for my son. He has a Scion Xb and wants some flames on them. Here is my second test.
  5. I can't get my pictures to show up when I preview my post. Fixed - Jairus
  6. It's the Tamiya Mazda 787. I used the photoected sets from both Scale Motorsports and Studio 27 and aftermarket decals that I got from Weber plastic in Kansas City.
  7. Thanks William. I put a space where an IMG should be. I hate it when I do that. Brian, These are great kits just like everything Tamiya does. I useed the photoetched sets from Scale Motorsports and Studio 27. Although they had some duplicate items there were still enough differences to make it worth it plus I have a lot of extra part for some kits that don't have photoetched available.
  8. I finished my latest build over the weekend. I am trying to do more detail and better quality work. Not so much for contest but for myself. The first picture is what I finished this weekend. The next are pictures of it setting next to the same kit that I built 12 years ago. When you look at the picture of the two engine bays, you will just have to remember that on the old one I wasn't going for correct colors. I have no idea where I came up the the green for the injectors and the blue for the air box. I honestly have no recollection of why I painted it those colors. Anyway, I am please with my new addition. There are things that I could have done better but over all it's a much better result than other one. I guess my involvement in the MCMA and this board has resulted in better building.
  9. Please go to the link to our website and click on the "Click Here" words to see the pics. We had some confusion on our meeting date so the turnout was a little lite but we still have a fun group. http://www.themcma.com/html/Gallery.htm
  10. Thanks for the pics. I think I can do the decals, at least the majority of them. It won't be an exact replica but close enough for me.
  11. Thanks for the quick reply even though it wasn't what I wanted to here. I think that car is so nice looking I would like to do a phantom C6 R in those colors. Thanks again.
  12. Does anyone know a source for decals for this car? It was blue with a white strip and red accent. Thanks in advance.
  13. Mark, He is just the Best of Show winner from Heartland. He does pretty good work.
  14. I've have tried to replicate every wire and hose on the engine but I don't have pictures of some of the areas to know exactly where everything goes. I am just trying to make it look as real as I can. I haven't got into making aluminum parts but that will be the next thing for me. I have found that research is the most important part of doing a lot of detail. My next attempt will involve much more work on the front end. I'm at the point on this one that I can see some hoses and wires in the pictures I have but I don't know where they are going so I am having to guess. But I have to say that I have enjoyed myself on this build and that is what it's all about.
  15. Actually, it's Cinnimon pearl if I recall correctly. Then I added some Ketchum Kopper to darken it and painted highlights down the middle and on the fenders.
  16. Same for me Bill. I have always thought it's one of the best looking cars ever. I just decided at the beginning of the year that I was going to build it and not put it off any longer. I had said for a long time that I was going to wait until I developed my skills more but I would never get to the place that I thought I could do the kit justice so I decided to go ahead and build it. If 10 years down the road I think I so much better then I'' build another one.
  17. A lot of different opinions and no real fighting which is nice. For me, I like Foose's stuff. He take cars that will never be finished by the owner and make a good $25,000/$30,000 car out of them. If they had to pay everyone for all the time and all the free stuff, I'm sure it would be well over 50K. So the owner gets a much better car than they had or ever would build themselves, the viewers get an entertaining hour and the workers get their 15 minutes of fame. I think it's a win win situation for all. My questions is about the paint scheme on this one. I like it except for the break line on the hood. It just doesn't look right to me going across the center of the emblem. I think the whole hood should be blue with the bread point in the middle of the light going down to the grill. That is my buck 75 worth.
  18. I would be awful easy for me to just build Tamiya JTC and DTM cars and never build anything else.
  19. I guess this should be posted in the Big Scale topic list but it is on my bench or at least under it. Tamiya 1/12 Lola T70 This was a paint test for some water base clear. That didn't work but I like the color so I used Matrix clear on it. It will just be a slammer or curbside for the shelf. Here is a Tamiya Mazda 787. I built one several years ago just box stock. I am trying to expand my detailing ability so I am trying some new things on this one. Paint should be on it in the next week or so.
  20. I've lost your email address or at least the one that I have is wrong. I have wanted to send you notice of our contests here in Irving. We missed you in March. Dennis Koleber needed some competiton. We will be having our 2nd NNL on Nov 4th. We'd love to have you stop in. You can check out what's going on at our website. www.themcma.com Hope to see you then.
  21. I'm not going to call them finished but I'm not doing any more work on them either. Kind of a back story. Last year I decided that I would build a model for each class we have in our March contest. That's 28 class. I actually finished a total of 34 models between Feb 05 and March 06. Not the best quality by a long short but I did it. This year has been totally opposite. I haven't finished a models since the last one I did for the contest. Normally I at least crank out one a month but I am doing more detailing and scratchbuilding on my current projects so still have a ways to go on them. Our club has a Red, White and Blue mini contest at our July meeting and so I decided the Monday before to build something. The race car below was an old build that I had stolen the wheel and tire for another project several years ago. I stripped the paint and shot it with some blue and stuck some decals on it. All toll, it took about 3 hours. Stole some wheels and tires off another car and there it it. The coupster was a test mule if there ever was one. I scratchbuilt the chassis, something I had never done. I did detailing on the engine I've never done. Open the doors which is new for me. Just a lot of first time experiements which most of you know generally are not the best quality. I didn't want to redo everything multipule times to get it right so I just through it together. Both are fantastic 10 models, good 5 footers and well, we won't talk about what they look like at 2 feet but I hope you enjoy anyway.
  22. I guess if you can put up with him, I'll be fine. I see a lot of names that I recognize. Good to know your all still around. Looking forward to catching up on what everyone is doing.
