  1. It's been said by several others already, so I'll say it twice...WOW-WOW!!!
  2. Talk about 'jumping in with both feet,' huh? My guess is you'll be at sensory overload by about 11am.
  3. A quick tip: if you still have the molded 'sunroof' part left over from the PL kit, it fits the Tamiya '66 Beetle very well.
  4. I like the dryer sheet idea as well....that's 'thinking outside the model box.'
  5. Very subtle and low-key; nice build!
  6. I stand corrected, the stuff I have is from Model Car Garage: MCG underhood insulation modlbldr(Tom) - I'm adding it to the pair of tires I've already promised to send you.
  7. Detail Master marketed black 'underhood insulation' a while back, and I know I have it unused in my stash....If It's something you can use, Tom, I'll toss it in the package I'm already prepping to mail out to you. Email me a nudge, and I'll look for it.
  8. Totally 'off the wall' and well done. I like it!
  9. I agree, it's a sad day; I don't pray very often, but today my prayers go out to her and her loved ones....also to those who did whatever they could to help. Both accounts may be right. She may have been killed instantly, but the responding paramedics may not have been allowed to make the declaration; I'm sure they did everything they could en route to the hospital
  10. I really like this Bug, even though the engine's in the wrong end.

A guy in NV who does some crazy custom VWs made a 3-door Beetle, just to be different:
  12. They do look good, but again the holes are more square than those on the movie car pictured above.
  13. Nice model...er, diorama...well, it's cool no matter what it's called. I like it!
  14. If a model of mine wins an award, I 'retire' it from that event. If that model doesn't win, I may or may not bring it back again....usually I don't. An NNL is cool, because bringing a model back is OK....no awards to be had.
  15. My homebuilt booth uses the same filter as my furnace, so I bought them in bulk.
  16. Those are nice for sure, but the holes are much too 'square' for the application. They look similar to the Willys ones you already posted, which more closely resemble Halibrands than Ansens. I took a look at Comp Resins' site, and their Fenton front wheels would do quite well for the application:
  17. I genuinely feel bad for the guy, and hope he makes a full recovery. I'll continue to use my homemade booth, thanks. I hate to say it, but his choice of equipment was the cause of the accident; a kitchen exhaust fan isn't normally subjected to flammable vapors, so their exposed windings are not an issue. A brushless fan motor will help prevent such an an awful thing from happening to anyone else
  18. Those Arii sets are cool and probably have the nicest set of BFG's ever made, but I agree with Dave Z; those wheels look more like the stamped steel slots than the cast ones, due to a lack of depth in the edges of the holes. I have to say the wheels that look the most like the ones on the movie Duster are the ones that came in the old MPC(and recently reissued) 'Smokey the Convoy Chaser' Dart Sport: Some silver paint and a shot of DullCote, and voila!! Ansen Sprints.
  19. Very slick!! I wish Hasegawa came out with a double cab...or even a Binz.....in kit form.

I never get tired of seeing this model! The body work is top notch, and the accessories really add to the car's "story." In the early 50's, the German coachwork firm Rometsch(pronounced "RAH-metch") made taxis out of Beetles:
  21. I too have a set of Dennis' white metal BRMs, but I'd love more of them....those Americans and Radirs are something I'd be interested in for sure!
  22. I tore a hole in mine at the new job last month - the new one is showing up just in time.
  23. All I can say is awesome.
  24. I never thought it would happen, but I agree 100% with Bob.
  25. As soon as I got out of the car yesterday afternoon, I grabbed my shovel and began scraping snow & slush off my driveway...my sister-in-law called me 'superman.'
