  1. I've never used a mechanical shaker, but I've always had good luck using a couple of Crosman BBs in each of my paint jars.

Very clean and imaginative build...it looks 'right' as you've done it, like a factory job. I really like the engine access panel(with Bus handle), tailgate logo, and the rear fender stoneguards.
  3. Makes me wanna go camping. Me likey!!
  4. I like it a bunch!! I'm curious what paint you used on the wheels, as they 'look the business.'
  5. One of our local Michaels' stores has horses, and I got one for a project at our sole local A.C. Moore craft store....if memory serves correctly, it was no more than 2-3 bucks. Brizio - If you strike out, I can do the 'leg work' for you here.
  6. I like the finished model, regardless of how much it fought you along the way.......by the plate, can I assume your friend is in NY?
  7. Cliffo - What can I say that hasn't already been said? I also love the color combo, and it sure looks the business from where I'm sitting. I'm really looking forward to more updates. Not trying to split hairs here, but...I'm pretty sure the Cuda wasn't an E-body until 1970; that one is still on the A-body platform.
  8. Sounds like a good tip, but I've been perfectly happy using misty coats of Testors' DullCote on my pastel jobs; it's a flat finish that has yet to yellow on any of my models, and it's more versatile for other model uses as well.
  9. That's a really cool set, and the seats & steering wheels didn't even get mentioned on the box.....bonus!
  10. Steve Stanford has a ton of cool ideas, and you made this one come to life. It's offbeat, and totally cool IMO.
  11. Trogdor the burninator.....welcome aboard, and I love your screen name!! I wore my Trogdor beanie walking the dogs this morning
  12. I love that stuff....but it's not smooth by any stretch of the imagination; after curing you can dry sand it to make it a little better, however. My goal for the Monte was a ratted-out version of my buddy's beloved muscle car, so it served the purpose.
  13. Very funny and cool build indeed! I really like the 'riveted' patch panels......being here in the salty northeast, I've seen plenty of those kind of repairs in 1:1. It seems we have a similar sense of humor, although your build is light years ahead of my 1990's BBQ vehicle:
  14. I used rubber cement for the 'reveal' painting technique on my junkyard Monte's hood, with the 2-part "Instant Rust" faux finish kit from Michaels craft store as the base:
  15. Tamiya TS-14 gloss black is the way to go IMO.
  16. As most body rust occurs from underneath(in the northeast, at least), I recommend doing the Dremel work from the inside; the plastic gets thin and actually 'bubbles' like rusting metal, then I pop the holes open from the outside with a dental-style pick.
  17. I use my trusty 36" nylon 'light cube' setup I got off Ebay a few years back, and I'm very happy with it. It's very similar to this one: (image liberated from Ebay) The cube cost me about $30 shipped, and I got a mini tripod for no more than 7 bucks. I agree that a tripod is necessary for better pics as well.
  18. PE flanges are a good option, and I'm a huge fan of the aluminum 'armature wire' from my local Michaels store. I used aluminum tubing to make collectors on these headers, but they only had 2 pipes per side: I'm keen on trying the heatshrink tubing collector idea. I figure you could use these 'bead cones' as collectors as well, by lightly crimping the big end around the pipes going into it, trimming them to length and attaching PE flanges:
  19. Nice work on the Satellite, and I agree the light yellow will be a great color for it. Sounds a lot like the '78 Lil' Red Express hood debate he started....deja vu, eh?
  20. I'm still going through WRC withdrawals.......
  21. I use an upside-down AMT showcase as my stripper vat; the base becomes the lid, and it seals pretty well. When the stripper is cloudy, I use a small flashlight to find small parts on the bottom.
  22. It's already been said by ohters, but my resolution is to finish more than 1 model and get my homebuilt spray booth up to 100%. The booth is pretty large, and I need to change it to a downdraft system to suit my needs.
  23. I agree that it's a nice kit and expensive, but it's a styrene model.
  24. Another gem, Tom; I like it a lot.....and I'm really-really hoping it's coming to Jersey with you this spring
  25. It's good to see that show is still going on...and going strong, apparently. It's been a few years since I've been able to attend, and I do miss that event; it's a real 'must' for anyone into big trucks/heavy equipment, as the turnout is always impressive. Thanks for sharing the pics!
