  1. If anyone needs them for reference, I can get good close-up photos of any area on my friend's '59 FC-150. He lives less than 10 minutes from me, and I have full access up until winter storage time arrives(sometime between Halloween and Thanksgiving, depending on the weather).
  2. There's one about 5 minutes from me if you need any pics, Billy; I've been looking for a reason to stop at the guy's house, as he has an old fenderless hot rod pickup I've been dying to see up close. Email me if you need any pics.
  3. I might have a few issues of PF stashed away as well, Billy. I'll probably be interested in letting go any that I wasn't in(that means most of them ).
  4. I'm pretty sure Joe lives in the St. Pete area, but I'm not 100% on that. Keep an eye peeled for an 80-something guy tearing around in a blue R32 Golf.
  5. You said it, brother Billy. I replaced all the fuses in the Manx and cleaned every terminal I could get at.....the headlights work again. Visiting you in LG is a possibility, and maybe I'll try to drag Matt up there this time.
  6. Welcome aboard, Bill; it's nice to see so many familiar names here. Posting pics is pretty easy....if I can do it, anybody can. 8)
  7. And if you stop at the Saratoga Museum again Billy....call me. I'm only about 20 minutes south of it, and always willing to pop by.
  8. Very nice build, Ray; welcome aboard! That's one of my favorite kits, and I really like the chromed beltline you did on the body against the orange color. 8)
  9. Dave - I actually got the JL EMPI Buses from a friend who works for Darrell Vittone, and he had them autographed by Joe & Darrell; at my last job, we did a lot of business with them, and I was in touch every day. I told him I was interested in buying one shortly before my wedding in October of 2003, and he sent the second one along as a wedding gift. It's kinda cool that they have the 2 different wheel variations. At the moment both of my dune buggy books are in Darrell's hands, and headed to visit Joe in FL. I already got Bruce Meyers to sign them when we visited him & Winnie at their home, and I figure having the Vittones add their scribbles oughta make my books a little cooler. 8)
  10. A few of mine are here: http://public.fotki.com/vwdave/my_model_cars/ And a couple more are here: http://public.fotki.com/VWDave/my_model_car_projects/ I've got 2 of those Revell AG splits, as well as the '56 Ghia awaiting my attention. Very nice kits, although doing a custom seems a little scary......scratchbuilding would be the only way to come up with the parts
  11. I'm a big fan of the .005 pens as well, Bob; India ink is an old favorite of mine, but the pen gets it all done in one sitting. I did so much bodywork and sanding on this one that I wound up freehanding a couple of the door lines after paint.
  12. Dave - Welcome aboard! We can always use more Daves IMO. 8) The Sears Rascal was one of the better-quality 'clone' buggies, and they're plenty rare nowadays too. Regardless of pedigree, buggies are a fun car. I do post on TheSamba, as a matter of fact; over there I go by 'plasticman1432.' I was signed up on the DBA list, but left after they boned me on their 2006 calendar.
  13. It's actually an Imp, Dave....but I still think it's crazy & cool regardless. 8) EMPI Imp:
  14. Charlie - Thanks for thinking of me; the SSB is one of my favorite SoCal VWs ever. Gregg - Any other pics of the one on the far right? Looks like a chopped top, if thyne eyes do not deceive. 8) Here's the most current pic I have of my 1:1 Meyers Manx and my '68 Beetle project car together(Oct. '04, I think): (Fotki seems to be a little lazy tonight; might have to copy/paste to see it)
  15. OK, I'll play. I really need a few better pics of this one, but this is my '64 Impala at a very famous NJ landmark. And my model A truck might be a step beyond 'beater.' And here's a peek at my in-progress '55 Chevy stakebed truck. All three of the above models are slated to live on my friend's G-gauge railroad layout.
  16. Had a great time at the local auto museum on Saturday; they finally had a show that accepted kit cars, so me and the missus brought the Manx out to play. Including the Manx and two recently finished repli-Cobras, there were three entries in the 'specialty' class. Imagine my surprise when they announced the trophy was going home with us. Here's my album of the show: http://public.fotki.com/VWDave/car_shows__...oga_museum_hot/ And here's the museum's website: www.saratogaautomuseum.org
  17. Thanks for the kind words, you guys. That '66 is one of my favorite builds, and it was once misjudged because it was mistaken as a Franklin Mint model at a show. I really need to shoot some better pics.....that main one was done at my old work, and my departure from there is still a thorn in my side.
  18. More than likely many have already seen this 'how to' of mine on other boards, but I really enjoy sharing it. I came up with it on a VW Beetle, but it really can apply to most cars. http://public.fotki.com/vwdave/how-tos/vw_beetle_pop-out/
  19. It's been a very long time, but I'm pretty sure my first build didn't look that good....keep at it, and you will impress many people(including yourself). Learn from your mistakes, and your work will improve with every build. 8)
  20. This guy found a great use for his spares: A garage I deliver to for my new job has this fella keeping a close watch over their parking lot. I've got 6 pictures in total in my newest Fotki album: http://public.fotki.com/VWDave/sightings/non-car_sightings/
  21. I loved that one even in primer, David...and painted it's even better! 8)
  22. I was born the same year that this 4-4-2 paced Indy. A week before Santa shows up this year, I'll be 36.
  23. Thanks for the welcome you guys. Lyle - My last name is harder to spell and pronounce than 'VW,' so I fell into the habit of just using my screen name everywhere. My secret's out now.
  24. Glad to be seen; thanks, Bill. 8)
  25. Jairus, I agree with you on the Bluesmobile mall scene - classic stuff right there. There's plenty of quotable lines in there too, like: *'The new Oldsmobiles are in early this year.' *Lots of space in this mall.' Signature tuned up as well; thanks for the tip.
