  1. Interesting 351... KW sleeper on it sort of fits. The wrecker body is by Don Hines of South Union Body Works. Sometimes called a Hines Stick or Bakersfield Boom. Each one was custom built by Hines' shop in Bakersfield. The last one was built in the 90's according to Hines. Tim
  2. Cool. I'm surprised Ertl never did an old 'binder like the Loadstar or Fleetstar. Tim
  3. Somewhere, someplace, someone probably did this in 1:1. Nice. Tim
  4. I have built one. 100% box-stock. Tim
  5. No, the box-art is just for retro-effect. Tim
  6. Probably AMT's best truck kit.. The only problem with the kit is that the hood is removable, not tilting. As said above, the sleeper is an option. When you build the cab, install the rear window "glass" and leave the sleeper off, install the extra deck plate included and you're all set. The 1st version of the kit was issued as a day cab. Tim
  7. Nice. On the stripes, once you lay down the masking tape, spray or bush a light coat of the main color that is being masked (in your case red and white) along the edge of the masking tape. This will help prevent any bleed under by the stripe color. As for the stripe peeling off, was there an extended period of time between painting and removing the masking? The masking should be pulled off after the paint becomes tacky. If you let the paint cure before removing the masking, the paint will peel easier. Tim
  8. Interesting avatar photo you have there... My 351 logger.. Tim
  9. Nice looking tri-drive you've got going there! Tim
  10. Kurt I have a special rider on my homeowners similar to a jewelry policy. Breakage is covered, but not on a per-piece basis. More of theft, catastrophic damage, fire, etc. The adjuster about blew his lid when he saw the collection "you're not looking for coverage if you break a part off are you?" ha. The rider costs me $20-25 a year. Tim
  11. Very out of focus. These were shot with a Kodak Z740 that dislikes ANY movement. Combine walking, talking and holding the "record" button and you get a myopic view of everything.
  12. Thanks. The website www.timstrucks.com is back, you must have an old bookmark. TimsTrucks Tim
  13. I'm not sure why AMT forgot the grab handles and molded on the wipers, yet molded a nice AM radio antenna on the chrome tree multi-piece mirrors. Decisions made 38 years ago that we'll never know the answers too. Tim
  14. Nice lookin' largecar you have in the works. Tim
  15. Tim The unbuilt kits total: 348. The builts must be close to that if you include doubles trailers.. Tim
  16. I made a video tour of my truck room today and posted it on YouTube. I also posted a dozen short clips showing future projects. Tim
  17. Tim You are not alone in your dislike of the 3 piece cab. AMT did that so they could offer the non sleeper and the sleeper versions without having to make entire cab toolings. I discovered on my recent W-Freightliner the same thing that you did, the sleeper section of the interior tub is too wide. I ended up carving off the sides and inserting the sleeper tub after the rest of the interior was in place. AMT's instructions back then were vary vague - which left a lot of installations up to how the builder interprets the instructions. I remember on my first AMT Peterbilt 359 I somehow installed the headlamps upside down. (it must have been the glue fumes). Tim
  18. A true-to-the-look 70's truck. Tim
