  1. Mark You should be able to find the tanker at hobby shops as it was released as the Skelly tanker, and the chrome plated version should be out too. Tim
  2. That's gonna look cool. Tim
  3. Chris Great work on the B-train. Tim
  4. Purely by hand. An old soft T-shirt and lots of elbow grease. Tim
  5. Update Pics Here's the 386 after clear coating and before polishing. Here's the 386 after polishing with 3M rubbing compound, 3M cleaner wax and Mother's Carnuba wax. Tim
  6. The 903 is a Cummins and red would be correct in an International. Tim
  7. See the engine threads... Blue for an International brand engine, red for an outsourced engine like a Cummins or Detroit Diesel. Tim
  8. He scratchbuilt everything. Simply amazing work. ! Tim
  9. Copper and black - very traditional colors. Tim
  10. Kostas, Yes, that's Rory. I noticed that she was centered in the sleeper opening so I called her name so she'd look up, then I snapped the pic. This weird green now has its 3rd coat of clear on it and will cure before I do anything else on it. Tim
  11. Here are some updates on several projects: The Hybrid Peterbilt getting polishing a bit after curing for a week. I polished the cab with 3M rubbing compound and 3M cleaner wax. Next is the 386 with full chassis fairings. This has been a perplexing model - first fabricating the chassis fairings, then finding the correct color. I had ordered the paint from Tower Paint in Oshkosh, Wisconsin but never heard anything from them.. and then did some research and found that the business is closed after a devastating fire in early February. I found a company in Louisiana called Automotive Touchup - a division of Microfinish LLC. For a bit more than Tower's prices they mixed the color I needed. Here's the base coat on the 386. I was quite concerned that the color was too dark for what I wanted. Even after applying the clear coat, the color still looked too dark - until I took the parts out into natural light (overcast sky). This is quite the funky color! It seems to have a mind of its own. The paint from AutomotiveTouchup goes on nicely but requires multiple coats to achieve coverage and proper metallic. I ordered this with small metallic flakes to look more in scale. Additional pics are on my "On the bench" page on my siteTimstrucks.com. Thanks for looking. Tim
  12. Jeff The chassis the mocked-up cab is sitting on is one I use for test fitting - it's a former built-up that I bought a while ago. I had left it on my workbench and it has become the test-bed for most SBFA Pete's that I'm working on. The wheels on the chassis are the old-style Italeri wheels that have had the chrome stripped off. Update on this one: I've just finished applying the 2nd coat of clear on the body. The chassis will be a real bugger to paint as the brand of paint doesn't like to settle into the nooks and crannies. Tim Sergey I will use the Italeri Peterbilt style wheels to match the tractor the trailer will be paired up with. Tim
  13. "give me forty acres and I'll turn this rig around.." Big Bunk ! Tim
  14. In the 1960's and 70's PACCAR ordered it's engines for Peterbilt and Kenworth in PACCAR White. Kenworth stopped white engines in the early 70s, Peterbilt continued into the 80's. White motors Tim
  15. Kurt Yes! Same can of Tower Paint's Viper Green. Tim
  16. Here's what has been on and off my workbench all weekend. Peterbilt 330-family straight truck with paint applied -Viper Green from Tower Paint (which is now closed due to burning down last month Next, something I started in 2008 but got sidetracked, the Lindberg Exterior Post Van Trailer And an AMT Wilson Livestock Trailer. Both the livestock trailer and the Lindberg exterior post were painted with Duplicolor 1200 degree "High Heat" Aluminum paint. After a week of curing, it doesn't seem to want to show fingerprints or smudge as easily as "Bumper Chrome." And it reflects nicely too. Thanks for looking. Tim
  17. Yup. I don't know who suggested this a while back, but it sure makes the roof light look better. Especially on a light colored roof. Tim
  18. I'm not sure why they called it a Cat or painted it yellow for the box.. but it is a Detroit Diesel. Tim
