  1. Several resin casters offer low-profile tires. Check with www.kitformservices.com And http://sourkrautsmodeltrucks.com/ Tim
  2. Thus why I have a bunch of trailer kits unbuilt and only a handful built. Where would I display them? Tim
  3. As soon as a creative builder gets ahold of a test shot to make hoods, etc - and then cast the parts. I'll bet it won't be long! Tim
  4. I agree with Chuck, the multi-piece cabs seem to lend them selves to better/crisper detail than the "tubs" of the old kits. I'd rather see 1/24th also as there are no other modern truck kits in 1/25th. The newest model kit was the Volvo VN and Western Star Constellation both almost 10 years old now. Before that Italeri introduced the two Peterbilt kits around '96. Modelers are asking for new trucks. I sure home the Lonestar kit is the spark that ignites the fire for more new truck kits. Tim
  5. I received an email from the parent firm for Lindberg today. Ernie Petit has retired, and all production and product development has been suspended. This is not good news at all. Tim
  6. Art, you can't just swoop in and drop a bomb like that without leaving a hint photo!! Tim
  7. Nice big drom Pete you've got going. Tim
  8. Are you going to cut the rest of the sleeper off the donor cab and make a daycab? Tim
  9. Straight from Cedar Rapids "We are Alive and Well." Tim
  10. You'll need the resin low roof from Eric, the square horns (Sourkraut?) and the 377 roof lights and you're good to go! Tim
  11. Kurt, The work you do is simply outstanding. Tim
  12. Casey, wasn't your dad's a long hood 379? If so, there are several resin hoods available to easily convert the 378, move the cab and sleeper rearward, extend the exhaust and air cleaner piping, move the battery and fuel tanks back and everything should fit - just on a shorter wheelbase for a long hood. Tim
  13. Jim, Nice. Is the black metallic? Tim
  14. Here is the new version of the 378 kit. New Box The small sleeper (Freightliner) cab box The original version of the 378 had an incorrect Freightliner 34" sleeper and sleeper mount, no quarter fenders and the dash decal was inaccurate. The new kit has a Peterbilt UniBilt 63" sleeper with sleeper extenders, grab handles for the back of the sleeper, chrome plated quarter fenders and a new decal. This sleeper makes the kit much more accurate than the original version. Here is the brochure the box cover photo came from: I'm sure various retailers will have lower prices than the suggested retail price. Is the kit 'worth it?' That depends on your point of view and how thick your wallet is. This kit has 9 trees of parts and a larger decal sheet. The older version has 7 trees. You could buy both the 377 and the older 378 and have spare parts, but then you're dealing with red and white plastic parts which is a problem for many builders. I am told that there will be a price increase in June. Kits aren't getting cheaper! Tim
  15. This kit should be at your USA retailer today. The kit features: White molded cab/ 378 hood/sleeper Black molded frame/suspension. 63" raised roof Unibilt sleeper. Chrome quarter fenders. Fresh decal sheet with silver and red stripes, Great Lakes Motor Transport door signs, A new accurate dash decal, more accurate chassis warning decals, updated instructions. There is a drawing error on the sleeper instructions, the drawing shows the sleeper extensions mounted backwards at the bottom, but correct at the top of the piece. The chrome looks very smooth and blemish free. Aside from the photo on the box being the wrong model truck, the kit is very nice and will build into a perfect 378. Let the building begin! Tim
  16. I've seen these before - it raises the 5th wheel. Tim
  17. That looks good. The headache rack will cover the daycab plug. Tim
  18. Similar to this one (again without the aero-shields on the mufflers, no cab guard, no 4 straps on the tanks, and no Ultracab (raised roof on the cab). Tim
  19. Aside from the aero-shields on the mufflers, the chain hangers, the wheels and air horns - it's exactly what is in the kit. Tim
  20. Whoa! The photo on the emodels page is way off from what the kit will be. That photo is 100% wrong. Don't go by that pic at all. Again, the truck is a 378 with a 63" stand-up sleeper. Tim
  21. The kit is the corrected version of the original 378 kit. It contains the correct style sleeper (Unibilt 63" stand-up sourced from the 377 tooling) along with quarter fenders and a new decal sheet that features a stripe and new instrument panel decal correcting the old decal. The box features an incorrect truck photo on the cover - a 379. The kit is not a 379, it IS a 378. The US importer's retail price is $92. Their retail price is always higher than the price of the on-line stores. Tim
