  4. In the 377, the engine should be Detroit Diesel Blue. The Alpine Green was used on the older engines. Tim

  8. The video would have been longer but I ran out of space on the memory card and the wind was picking up, causing the 'road bed' to rock and sway so I ended the photo session.   9. The tires are the worst part of this kit. The tires don't like to stay seated on the rims without the help of a thin bead of superglue. Tim
  10. There was a resin crewcab several years ago by a company called Pinecrest resin. I don't know if any are still floating around anywhere. Tim
  11. I modified the front springs slightly as the axle sits slightly rearward on 377SFFA than a 378. The chassis itself is the same. Tim

I mixed up the newly issued Italeri Peterbilt 378 "Long Hauler" with a resin hood from Plaskit and leftover parts from a Peterbilt 377A/E kit to make a 1987 Peterbilt 377 SFFA (set forward front axle) tractor. Here it is in primer And here it is finished In order for the decal stripes to lay flat and allow me to wax the Future clear over the decals, I sanded most of the huck rivets on the sleeper down to be barely noticeable. This way I wouldn't wax/polish through the clear and expose the rivets. I used the kit stripe decals but cut the hood stripes and "notched" them for a more late 80's look. I also reworked the sleeper mounts and sleeper extenders for the pre-Unibilt style. The bumper and headlamps are also the pre'91 style. The grille screen is mesh from Plano Model Products (I love this stuff!).   14. A couple of things on the AMT Peterbilt 359 that need work: 1). The tires. There is a nasty-bad mold seam in the center of each tire. I use 220 grit sandpaper and a sanding block and sand the tread flat to eliminate the visible seam. 2). Before you glue in the rear axles, test fit them to the frame with wheels/tires on the axle to make sure that all axles and tires are level so your tires all touch the ground. 3). The underside of the roof has some large round mold marks (can't remember the technical term). These interfere with the installation of the glass tub and need to be removed so that the glass slides all the way into the cab and the interior tub slides high enough into the cab. Tim
