  1. That's great, Bob. Sidenote: I vividly remember stopping by the local Rexall drug store over forty years ago and checking that model out. They had a small area of models close to the end of one of the aisles. I think I was around eight years old. When I went back on Friday, allowance and lawn monies in hand, it was already gone. That boxart left a lasting impression. I'll send you $10 tonight. Thanks, ron
  2. Got the contact info, Bob? i wouldn't mind one of those prints...
  3. Thanks Bill. I'm with you. One of my favorite Caddies...
  4. Hi David, I talked to the owner last night. He's in his twenties and he is driving the Speedster across country to Indiana for the model T 100th anniversary! Then on to Atlantic City, to get its wheels wet in the Atlantic!
  5. Or, what I did on Wednesday night. The weather has cooled down, so this was a beautiful night for a car show. Kohlweiss Car Show Tough to pick a favorite (besides my A100), but this original paint Vette might do... or Mark's Model T Speedster. He's DRIVING this to Indiana for the Model T 100th Anny, leaving this week:
  6. I too assumed that's what Rants and Raves was for. I was a little irritated when people began to object to posts that were off the subject of model cars. We've all got enough "PC" in our lives. I didn't tend to agree with most of the off topic posts, but found most postings to be acceptable. Personal attacks certainly should be avoided, and as with most public fourms, if you attack someone, YOU LOSE!
  7. I'm going with real, those wheels look great!
  8. Great day! Mid 70s, after being in the 90s Friday and Saturday. http://public.fotki.com/Truckaholic/car-sh...alto-concours-/ I went to a car show, Palo Alto Concours de Elegance. Corvette and Alfa Romeo were the featured marques. I somehow managed to get very few Vette pics. And i managed not to get a pic of my favorite, a windowed '57 Chevy sedan delevery. 1 0f 97. Perfect. Like a 150 two door wagon with no back seat and a one piece liftgate. 6 cyl. Too cool! Ron Garbez Menlo Park, CA
  9. I went to Mopar Alley's Mopar Rally at Olone college in Fremont CA June 1st 2008. Took a few pics, here they are. Mopar Rally My A100 pulled 3rd place in its class, out of 5 trucks. Enjoy, Ron
  10. Jacques Littlefield's Military Vehicle Collection in Portola Valley, CA. In the hills a little west of my place. I've known about this place for a while, but it isn't easy to weasel in. Lots of Tanks. Four barns, stuffed. I spotted a Dragon Wagon in the corner as we were being shuffled out, got a couple of quick pics of it. We might have a winner in "The one who dies with the most toys wins" contest. Also, there are some Ramblers and Mopars pics, if you just can't stomach tanks. I might have trouble walking past the military stuff in Yanni's Hobbies without looking, like I need to expand. Enjoy, Ron Littlefield's Military Collection
  11. Yes, THANKS, Milt! That turned out well! A great way to spend an afternoon!
  12. It would be a long haul from Fontana. I don't think it is going to look like a big show. Not like NNL. More like a meeting. At a pizza parlor. At the cost of travelling, I don't want to discourage you, but; FOUR BUCKS A GALLON IN MY TRUCK? I'd have trouble going much further than San Jose. 30 miles... Ron
  13. Yup, thanks again. And I wish you could all make it, it is sounding like fun!
  14. Thank you, Sir! Just what I needed....
  15. Hey Milt, post the name of the place and address again, will you? I'm too lazy to search the board. thanks, ron
  16. I plan on being down there.
  17. Oh, I'd say about the closest is the place Brian mentioned, Yannis Hobbies in Mt. View: 4846 El Camino. I only had a few minutes to check it out Wednesday, small, but first rate and definitely a welcome addition. I certainly hope he can make it work. I will spend some hobby dollars down there soon!
  18. Pretty cool party you guys have put together. I'm really looking forward to it. And Milt, you are likely NOT to be the only bald guy in a black t-shirt. Sigh... Ron
  19. Hi, My name's Ron and I am a Plasti-holic. And a truckaholic. And, OH heck, I already posted to this thread! (But it is still one of my favorites. Good one Steve.) Ron
  20. R/C Unlimited Hobbies (per the flyer Randy handed out). 14910 Camden Ave. San Jose 408-377-3771 I need to check it out.
  21. I don't know where you are, Ron, but J&M Hobby at 1660 Laurel St. in San Carlos has a pretty good paint selection, along with some Plastruct and other supplies. A fair selection of kits, too. And a bunch of stuff for the wife to go through. Pretty cool OLD store. I used to ride my Sting Ray to this place. I just put in a Tower order this morning. My recent experience is that it will be here tomorrow. At least it is painless...
  22. That's it! Alan! Thanks! CRS slowly creeping in... I'm pretty sure I've got the flyer at home from Randy. I'll check the address...
  23. I'd be interested. With people talking about such distances, Menlo Park isn't so far. BUT I have to add something. D&J HOBBY. I don't know if you guys got a chance to get in there while you were down for NNLWest, but the model selection is WAY DOWN. With Randy and (I can't remember the other guy's name) leaving, the model car selection is down to one section on both sides. From what, six sections? And yes, I now have far more car models than D&J. Kind of sad. The guys left don't seem very interested in model cars either. Now with San Antonio Hobby gone and D&J like this, ordering online shines. Just so you are aware.
  24. I'm going with model. But very well done! If real, the fear of screwing up the paint would be too great to drive it!
