  1. Thanks JayVee! Wierd, I just finished putting on the rear fenders today. I used Crafter's Pick fabric glue (It's available at Hobby Lobby or fabric shops.) It's a thick water-based glue that dries clear. I brushed it on from the inside. I like it because it's just thick enough so that it won't seep into the joint, so it's not visible from the outside. Here's another progress photo, with rear fenders in place.
  2. beautiful build and fantastic paint job!
  3. outstanding job!
  4. Thanks! I primed with Variprime and shot the cinnamon pearl directly over the Variprime.
  5. Hi, here's a '40 Ford convertible I'm working on. This is the fourth (and final) paint job I've gotten from one 4 ounce bottle of House of Kolor Cinnamon pearl. I bought the paint from Black Gold. I'm building it pretty much straight from the box, except I've filled in the bumper bracket openings in the front fenders and rear panel, and the gaping hood hinge openings in the firewall. Here are some photos of some other Fords from the forties I've done. http://www.bikelab.net/models/fords40.html
  6. Cool use of original colors. Looks great!
  7. Wow, the Corvette color looks like it was made for a '58 Chevy. The silver roof sets it off perfectly! Gorgeous paint work.
  8. It's fantastic to follow the high quality work being shown on this board. Lots to learn from!
  9. Yes, "Edselish" it is! Great restoration work.
  10. Looks great so far! I can't wait to see the final product.
  11. Thanks everyone for your kind comments! KHart, you asked about the color. I shot Tamiya pure white spray over Tamiya pearl light blue spray. I wasn't able to find out much about the original color, except that it was an off white pearl with a little blue tint. I think Ford called it 'ice blue pearl', or something like that. Here's one of the better photos I found:
  12. Hi, I just finished this box stock version of the Lincoln Futura reissue. Kind of a neat and nostalgic kit. I think I'm hooked on the early Monogram kits, especially the '30, '34 and '36 Fords. The Futura is a quick build with pretty good fit, but it could benefit from a scratch built antenna and some rechromed side trim.
  13. Wow! fantastic job.
  14. Beautiful work!
  15. Beautiful paint work! Thanks for the tip about using a blue or brown base. I'll definitely give one of those a try.
  16. That's fantastic! What else is there to say, it absolutely looks real.
  17. World class work Peter! Thanks for posting your article.
  18. Peter, Greetings from the USA! Thanks for the excellent review and for posting your progress photos.
  19. I'm sure glad I joined this forum, if for no other reason than to follow the progress on this model. The '59 Buick is one of my favorite designs, along with the '34 Ford. It's sheet metal with sex appeal.
  20. That's absolutely gorgeous.
  21. Yes, I also like building cars that bring back family memories. Beautiful job scratch building the rear fenders. The stance and the wheel/tire combo look great.
