  1. Boy that color looks perfect on the model, beautiful workmanship!
  2. Sure glad to get this one finished, I about burned out on all the foiling. The paint is Tamiya gloss aluminum topped with Tamiya clear. I used Micro-Mesh pads and tamiya polish to smooth it out. The wheels are rally wheels with some bigger tires from my parts box.
  3. very crisp and tasteful. a real beauty.
  4. Thanks Charlie, I didn't use primer. I sprayed Tamiya gloss black directly on the plastic, then the mica red.
  5. beautiful work!
  6. Yes, the paint job and wheels really set the model off. Gorgeous workmanship.
  7. Now that's what I'm talkin' about. A masterpiece in every sense of the word!
  8. Thanks Peter! I hadn't noticed the missing mirror. It must have fallen off while I was photographing. The wind flipped the model at one point, and I'll bet that's when it happened......bluemoose
  9. Here's a Johan 1968 Chrysler 300 curbside I just finished up. I painted it with Tamiya mica red over black, and used some Modelhaus tires.
  10. very impressive work you've done there. Looks great!
  11. Thanks Captain Obvious, no, I didn't modify the stance.
  12. Here's the new Tamiya kit I just finished. I painted it with tamiya gloss black spray, and as you can see I departed from the factory stock colors for the calipers and engine cover. The decals included with the kit are OK, but not as good as the ones Tamiya used a few years ago. The registration and glue are not up to the former standards. The insert engine the kit uses doesn't look half bad, but that's kind of what it is, half-tooled. The parts visible from under the hood are nicely tooled up, in fact it's enough to completely fool me, but that doesn't take much. It's a time saver for me and and I'm sure a cost saver for Tamiya. But personally I missed building a 10-20 year old tamiya kit with a stand alone engine and high quality decal sheet. I suppose that's the way the old ball bounces.
  13. outstanding photography! thanks for shooting and posting. With some fresh 800 paper, and a fair amount of time, I was able to kill that mold line with no damage to the fuel door.
  14. beautiful work, great colors!
  15. Here are some photos I took of the contents of the new Tamiya kit. First thing I want to do is paint the body.
  16. fabulous work, gorgeous color!
  17. Here's the Revell '66 Impala with the body now painted. The paint is Tamiya gloss aluminum topped with Tamiya clear. I used Micro-Mesh pads and tamiya polish to smooth it out.
  18. Thanks W-409! I think it's an excellent kit. The engineering is different than any kit I've built before or since, which I found refreshing. Only disappointment was the lack of three dimensional side trim moldings.
  19. Thnaks Dan, I can't remember this part of the build, but looking at the suspension, I think I just mounted the spindles upside down. The rear is probably just stock ride height.
  20. Here's a box stock version of the Galaxie '48 Chevy I built around the time the kit first came out. Just now got around to shooting some outdoor photos. The paint is Sassy Grass Green from Model Car World.
  21. Samantha, that is a beautiful job! I sure hope to see more from you. You've got amazing artistic flair!
  22. Beautiful! I love the stance, color, and the photography is stunning.
  23. Thanks Harold, yes, that the flathead that comes with the kit.
  24. Thanks Speedster, I thinned down the paint with about 50% lighter fluid and 50% paint, and brushed on just one coat letting some of the gray plastic show through. Then I cleared with Tamiya semi gloss clear.
