Project looks great! Do you happen to know the exact diameter of those wheels? Ive been eyeing that set for a while now.

Stalled projects; we all have them.
seanyb505 replied to whale392's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Right when I got my second model when I was 8 my dad told me, "Only do one at a time, or you will never finish them." I'm proud to say I have no stalled projects, and work in alphabetical order so as to not show favoritism, or avoid building a particular kit. If I get an idea for a certain build I write it down on my master build list. Having said that, Dave that is a very large collection; I counted around 80 including background cars. You seem to enjoy mockup, but painting throws you off lol. Get to working! -
Congratulations, that is a great looking piece of art. Definitely one of my favorite builds Ive seen on here, and very inspiring.

As a Mopar guy, this gets me going! I've been planning to do something similar; take a SRT10 coupe to a GT1-spec car. Also thought you might want to know that Chevrolet is bringing a Corvette Zo6X track car AND and Camaro SSX track car to the SEMA motorshow. Looks like Chevy beat you to the punch!

Which Plymouth Prowler?
seanyb505 replied to seanyb505's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks for the replies, I ordered the Revell kit #85-0874. Plan is for a twin turbo salt flat racer. Unfortunately "Plymouth Prowler" is about 13th down the list alphabetically. I may have to finally start doing more than one at a time... -
I'll be adding a Plymouth Prowler to my Mopar collection soon, but upon my searching I've found two versions, both with trailers. Out of the Revell and the AMT kits, which is better? Better fit, accuracy, overall quality? I'd be willing to sacrifice ease of build for a better looking, more realistic model that doesn't look cheap and toy-like. I'm not opposed to the Snap-tite, I just figure that would definitely be more toy-like. Thanks!

Piecing it together before paint would have fixed a lot of my issues, rather than dealing with the parts while painted. Everything else was good, though I have learned some things for the next build. The edges of the decals are peeling, and my painting technique needs attention. This one got three different shades of blue before I found a paint I could work with. The rear three-quarter shots are my favorite, I can't get enough of the stance!

Just finished this one. Im really happy with the way it came out; this was some of the most work I've put into a build. I lowered it and used modified rims from a Shelby GT500. They were dechromed and the outer part of the rim was painted silver. The spokes are actually unpainted, but since they were the color I wanted and still had the chrome base on I left them. I think the stance and wheel/tire package came out great. Nothing is plumbed and there are no wires, but I did manage some engine detailing. The way the front bumper and hood come together came out wrong, and the whole front grill doesnt seem to fit the front at all. Good from far, far from good. Comments and criticisms welcome, hope you enjoy! Finally get some pics up!

Has anyone seen LeMans style rims and slicks?
seanyb505 replied to seanyb505's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Actually a Mercedes CLK-GTR would be perfect. It looks like the wing is somewhat universal, but then Im left with CLK-GTR that I cant complete...UNLESS...Buy some of the five lug BBS rims and build it as a street version(even though the street version also had single lugs), sans wing, but that could be scratch built. I dont know if I can bring myself to pay that much for a kit, knowing Im going to have to throw more money at that one just to finish it. -
How long is everyone using Dawn power dissolver soaking the parts for?

What do you mean by shooting the second color "from behind the tape side?"

Just ordered my set lol. How can I know what to buy it for if I dont know what it is?

Pro Street Chassis Back Half

Do want. Ive been wondering why there was no "universal" tubbed rear end. One I could buy without having to buy an entire new kit. -
Thanks for the replys everyone! I see what's being said about the label thing. I also like the idea of treating every part and assembly as though that itself is a model. I like trying something new in preparation for the next model, but trying taking my time combined with trying something new for each part would definitely yield more improvements! I can more accurately describe the direction I want to go in as "more detail." From my 1:1 hobbies Ive learned I can pretty much do anything as long as Im willing to slow down and take my time until it's right, instead of just filling a time requirement. We have a Micheals, but I havent seen any chain stores, which is why I asked about preferred online vendors. I found a better LHS, and grabbed a few items. BMF, new blades, some sheet styrene (I do want to replicate a IMSA Fiero in time) and some Tenax7r glue, which I read here it was common on several benches. I also decided to add another model to queue, Lindberg's Little Red Wagon. Something different, and a Mopar so it had to be added:)

I’ve been building models since I was around 12 (1998), mostly out of box, stock mopars, nothing special. Compared to most of the builds I see here, my shelf looks like garbage. I’d like to give my models more details, but my 4 LHS all focus on trains, planes, and R/C cars. None of them really offer anything besides paint and glue. What are some of the more popular online outlets? Something that carries tools, supplies, customization items, and kits, too. I know I can use google and come up with countless sites, but what do the pros at MCM use? I’d also like to venture into pro street versions of cars, since that’s the next logical step from stock builds – buy a stock car, mod it until it’s barely street legal. I can see point A - a Revell Roadrunner or Viper even, and point B - the awesome finished products displayed here, but I not seeing too much in between. Are all the frames scratch built or resin? Is it possible and within reason to turn any car into a drag car? Also for some reason I feel like the standard curbside kits and other model stuff available at the LHS are more geared toward me when I first started. Paint, glue, done. Would I be correct in assuming this? What are some of the more quality brands? All fairly vague questions, I know. Im just looking into making the transition from boring same old, same old kits to something different and eye catching. Any help is appreciated.
