  1. Beautifully done Bill! I agree with you about the Crown, one of the finest fire rigs built. The Dept. I work for had one until 2002. Wish I had pictures of it. I thought that someone at one time made LACOFD decals but I don't remember who. If I had any I would send them to you. You might try the internet for some images and make some. If I turn something up I'll PM you. I like the outdoor pictures too.
  2. Very nice Scott! The colors are right on. I am a little prejudiced in this case since T and T is just down the road. Here are a couple of pictures of T and T trucks that I took on Highway 99.
  3. Dennis that turned out very nice. Looking forward to seeing it with the trailer.
  4. Bill, I like the look you gave this old kit.
  5. Here is some of what is in progress on my bench. White Freightliner DD, trailers for my System 99 IH, dozer that has been in progress for years, Italeri container trailer, Ford C cab in the background from Models by Dave.
  6. Got the idea for this project from Ron Adams Trucks Of The 1970s.
  7. Jim, sorry for the slow reply. Here is a photo I snapped with my phone while I was making the first set. The chain is from JoAnn's fabrics, craft section. The 34 guage wire I used to tie the cross links together can be found in the same section. I then painted them with Tesors Burnt Umber, Dullcote, and dusted with pastels while the paint was still wet.
  8. Very nice with the logs! It helps to have access to some real trees. I have identified some Redwoods that need "trimming" for a few projects.
  9. Thanks Chris. The chains are cheap and easy to make, just time consuming. I wish I could mass produce them to hang from more of my trucks.
  10. Thanks Dave. I would like to see outdoor pictures too, but I don't think the weather will cooperate for awhile.
  11. Thanks guys for the comments. Trailers are coming, though I have another couple of tractors ahead in line. And uh, yes they are cabovers.
  12. Finished this IH COE this evening. System 99 was an LTL carrier based in Oakland, CA. I remember seeing them a lot as a kid on Highway 99 through the Central Valley. The inspiration for this model came from a picture on Hank's Truck Pictures and from Lance Gregory's CF model. I used an Ertl International Transtar II Eagle kit. The frame was cut down and I used a rear axle and suspension from a Ford Louisville kit. The wheels are Ben Wicker two hole Budds. Air deflector was from the parts box and was modified slightly. Front bumper was seperated from the grille, then cut down. The cab hoist was removed from the battery box and relocated to behind the cab. Battery box was moved rearward and steps were added. Marker lights were also from the Ford and the horn from the parts box. The modified pintle hitch, gladhands, electrical conector, hubometer, and battery box latch are all detail items from Plaskit. Chain hangars, and a few other detils were made from styrene parts. Colors are Dupli-Color Cherry Red over Dupli-Color Red Sandable Primer. The Detroit is Alpine Green and the air deflector gloss White from Dupli-Color. The decals are from images printed off the computer and dry rub letters and numbers. Several paints and artist pastels were used for weathering.
  13. Very Nice!
  14. Tim very nice build. I like the rugged look of this truck.
