  1. Excellent work, beautiful finish. I'd love to have it on my shelf, but $34,500 is a bit steep for me right now.
  2. I built the Revell version when I was a kid, and it was one of my favorite models. I don't know what the scale was. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=1%2F16&_sop=10&_osacat=2580&_from=R10&_armrs=1&_pcats=1188%2C220&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.Xsuper+g+constellation+model&_nkw=super+g+constellation+model&_sacat=2580
  3. Tons of books, shop manuals, parts manuals, driver's manuals, etc., for the cars in my stash. I have originals of all of the above for the Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing and Roadster, plus an original Rolls Phantom II operator's manual, lots of original sales brochures, plus a few 1:1 parts and trim.
  4. I think you will find that Russia and the former Soviet bloc countries and republics are at the top of world alcohol consumption rates. This does not include my house, or the US would rank higher. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_alcohol_consumption
  5. Totally terrific, as usual. But I sure wish you'd get back to stock vintage classics.
  6. Superb job, excellent detail in every area. The only thing I could add to Harry's comment is that perhaps a little extra gloss could reduce the effect of the metal flake.
  7. I, too, am interested in how Jürgen built the wheels. Here are some different techniques for different wire counts in larger scales that may be helpful... http://www.freewebs.com/martsmodels/howtos.htm
  8. Yes, it makes sense, and it is a very eloquent explanation of your intent, which I now see in a totally different light. Welcome, hang around, and show us more of your work.
  9. Thank you, Tommy. I had forgotten that Little Debbie was part of a fifth column that sought to attack our soft underbelly during WWII with her succulent snack cakes (probably using German recipes). She's so cute, like Shirley Temple, it was easy to be misled. I really needed your wise counsel. But the point is not that I recognized what the Nazi elements were - and I don't give a rat's patootie whether you or anyone else made the connection or not, it was to identify them as classic Nazi propaganda that I knew from college courses in advertising and political science, and to wonder why they are the unfortunate core of Alex's graphics -- as a German, he certainly knows the context.
  10. I'm the only one making this statement. Your work is outstanding and I want to know more about your techniques and I hope you will stay. But I am saying that, in my opinion, your use of the materials I cited is in poor taste. Let others respond I might add that you were correct to introduce yourself as a new member in the original post, and it makes no sense for that post to have been moved down here into a totally different subject, where your aftermarket parts were mentioned by someone else. Totally silly.
  11. The trailers for "Rush" look amazing, and I know Ron Howard will do a great job with it. I wonder in how much detail the movie covers the dramatic story of the life of Niki Lauda's rival, James Hunt, whose life is worthy of a miniseries: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Hunt
  12. Okay, I just have to say it, and more explicitly than before. Does it bother anyone besides me that Alex's (Uschi's) avatar, web home page and packaging depict adolescent Nazi girls promoting Hitler Youth? I'm okay with swastikas and the like on WWII models because that's part of history, but this creeps me out since it's part of his public persona. "Youth serves the Führer:"
  13. Another spectacular build. I wish it were available in 1/16 or larger.
  14. That doesn't mean you can use an Easy-Bake oven that only uses a light bulb. I had a secretary at the office who actually burned and charred a chocolate cake in one.
  15. Welcome, and that's beautiful work. What technique did you use for the rooftop? But...what's up with the Hitler Youth pictures on your avatar and website?
  16. I assume this is the same as the Entex Rolls kit. More expensive than yours, but it's still a pretty good deal. Your Entex version is boxed as a 1905, but the Minicraft reboxing of this and its Silver Ghost partner say 1907; I wonder why? http://www.ebay.com/itm/MINICRAFT-1907-ROLLS-ROYCE-TOURING-CAR-1-16-SCALE-NEW-IN-BOX-SUPER-NICE-KIT-/200945692263?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item2ec94bee67
  17. Hmmph. Anne, who initiated this thread a few months ago, seems to have disappeared, But the advantages of washes have been well covered on this forum. I'm surprised there isn't a devoted tutorial thread related to this. But this may help.. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=74940&page=1
  18. In case the builder doesn't see this, he mentioned in post #27 that it's Duplicolor Brandy Metallic Lacquer.
  19. Very slick, excellent job. Great detail all around, but have you got any interior shots?
  20. You have over 3.000 posts and you've never seen Harry's builds? He's one of the best builders on the forum. Maybe you just never look at Big Boyz, because he mostly does large scale. Here are two of his most recent threads: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=75837 http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=76320&page=1
  21. I build 1930s European cars, and I track down paint options online so I can get a certain idea of what was available for each car in those days. The color sample images are often degraded because of age or poor scanning, but at least I have a good direction.

    1957 Pontiac

Looks pretty well done, but it would be good to see a lot more pictures from different angles, plus engine and interior shots.
