  1. Last time I was at O'Reilly's they had the interior paint in a different section of the store. Here's a link from their website: CLICK ME
  2. You can also go to the auto parts store or one of the Mustang supply houses (like LateModelResto) and get a can of the tan, or any other Mustang color, that they use when restoring or recoloriong the cars' interiors. The yellow coupe in my avatar came with the tan interior and I bought several cans to use on it, and I still use them for modeling. Same deal with all the different shades of black I got from Eastwood when I was building the car.....you'll find them on most of my models since I never used them up when building the yellow car.
  3. Looks great, Eric, especially that interior. You almost make Porno Red look desirable!
  4. Sorry - didn't mean to hjack your thread.
  5. Actually, it may not be definite bad news. I was in there yesterday and they told me that the owner is selling and looking for a buyer to keep the place open. The guy I spoke with said that they've had a few good bites and he sounded fairly optimistic about the chances that a buyer will be found. So, keep your fingers crossed!
  6. Don't wait too long if you're going to order from King's - they're closing their doors at the end of the year.
  7. Thanks, Chris. I'm still working on it - haven't given up yet. I've bought several aircraft kits but what looked like it might be a good impeller has so far turned out not to be. And I've been to every toy store and thrift store in three counties, looking for a Matchbox car or something with a usable wheel. so, I think I'm gonna try making one from scratch - again.
  8. Here's one I just finished a couple months ago. It's mostly box stock AMT Double Dragster, with scratchbuilt headers and wheels/tires from the old Edmunds modified kit. Instead of getting all wrapped up in superdetailing, I only added plug wires to it, along with belts and a couple other items.
  9. Doh! I should know that....I've got another photo of that powerplant as my wallpaper! That's Spiro Pappas' car, isn't it?
  10. Good luck with those turbos. I finally gave up trying to find something usable in scale (big rig trucks, F1 kits, etc) and made my own. It still needs a bit of finishing, but it's close to being ready, though I plan to make another impeller. I made it from a 1:87 scale wheel but the 1:1 impellers have six vanes, so I need to find a six-spoke itty-bitty wheel and try again. Now I plan to tackle a couple of projects similar to that Mustang.
  11. Thanks for the info, gang.....I'm glad I asked. It does sound like it's got no good applications in model building, so I'll just use that 2 square inches of desk space for something else. If anyone ever does find a good way to "expand" resin parts, I'd sure love to hear it. I had a friend (used to be fairly well known in the resin industry) who said he'd found a technique, but he wasn't talking and I never did find out just how much it would expand stuff. What we really need is a way to CONTRACT parts......as in from 1:1 to 1:25!!
  12. I picked up a bottle of this stuff quite some time ago, but I haven't ever gotten around to trying it. I noticed that the bottle warned that it expands, and that's kept me from experimenting. Can't think of a lot of applications in modeling where expanding cement would be useful. But I thought I'd ask and see if anyone has experience with it, and what, if anything, they've found it useful for. Does it really expand, and how much? What does it bond well with, and is it better for shear or compressive strength? Thanks!
  13. Don Emmons and Hank Borger.....they got me started down this path 30 or 35 years ago. Mark
  14. Those are Borlas in the Saleen kit.....nicely done, too. Mark
