Where ya goin' Hot foot?
Ryan S. replied to RJWood's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I drove a '94 Honda Civic Hatchback CX with the puny 1.5 litre engine back in high school and college. Some time in 98-99 I took a solo trip to visit family in southern california. On my way back home to nor cal, south of King City on HWY 101 I decided to see how fast she'd go. With the stereo cranked all the way up I put the peddle to the floor. It topped out around 95-100 due to a fuel regulator or some governing from the computer but I kept on it and was able to get just about to 110 on the speedo before I decided to back off of it. Shortly thereafter I noticed the 'ol blue and red's spinning in my rearview mirror and got a nice fat ticket from the CHP. He clocked me at 96mph but wrote me up for 85, which was cool. The $400+ ticket was not so cool. I had a Mercedes C230 as a rental about a year and a half ago which I got up to 105 or so, accidentially. That car was so smooth and just wanted to GO that I didn't even notice I was going that fast. I was on a highway and DIDN"T want a ticket so I didn't push it. -
Yeah, I'm with the real crowd.

This looks real to me too. Real.

I'm thinking it's real. With the amount of customization being done to Scions these days, someone has to be crazy enough to do this. Real.

Lookin' good man, I'm loving the flames. There's just something proper about flames on a racecar.

What a beauty! Well done, that this is fantastic! I love the grill and how it all flows! How much BMF did you go through?

The New A-Team!
Ryan S. replied to Custom Hearse's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'll admit, it looks better than I was expecting. At least they've got the van. I'm not sold on the characters though. I grew up watching the A-Team and it just seems like everyone is trying too hard to be the original guys...It might be too cliche. Who knows though, it's only a 1 and a half minute trailer; I might be surprised. ...too bad Mr.T is so busy playing World of Warcraft... -
These sure are fun! I'm going with model on this one.

That there is the real deal, yes sir.

This is looking real good so far. I love the stance in the mock up pic, and that motor is going to look great. Quick question, is this 1/25th scale? Something about it makes it look like a larger scale to me, I was just curious. Keep up the good work!
-
Looks good. You can't got wrong with red for those '32's. Nice choice of rims too, I might have to look for that kit just to get some of those!
-
Yup, I'm going real on this one too.
-
I'm going with real.

[Ed Mcmahon] YES! You are correct sir! [/Ed Mcmahon] It is a 1/24 motor. It's going to take some shoehorning, but I'm determined to make it work. Or does it look too out of scale? I think it looks ok, and I'm certainly not trying to win any contests with this thing so dead-on accuracy isn't a big deal. Plus, I think it being bigger makes it look more menacing!

So I've got the interior pretty much finished. The dash isn't glued in place yet and I'm contemplating giving the gloss green on the seats a dullcoat. I gotta say that the interior on this baby sure went together smoothly. Here's where we're at. For what its worth too, this is the car that has kind of been my inspiration. Thanks again for all the comments and for following along, I really appriciate it! Happy holidays everyone.

It does look like a future Batmobile... Allow me to geek out for a sec...the Tumbler got trashed in the Dark Knight, but Bruce Wayne still has that Lambo...some time in the Batcave and some modifications and maybe this is what he'd get for the next-gen Batmobile...I like it!

This is looking very cool! I like the blower; think of it this way, maybe the owner has a buddy who works at a parts store and wanted surfing lessons and they worked out a trade. A little extra muscle for maybe 4-8 lessons. Good trade and the owner isn't out any cash...bingo, you've got a blower!
-
Your's looks real good too! Love the red. Nice job on the BMF work. Thats probably what I'm most worried about, I haven't used it a whole lot and really don't want to mess this up! Any tips?
-
Thanks for the comments all! I'm pretty excited to get this one coming along. Still contemplating getting 572 heads for the BB to give the impression of even more muscle. Yeah, I wanted a lower stance, but not dragging on the ground low. Took some work to do it though. Scratch built new front spindles and put a lowering block between the rear leaf springs and the rear end.

Beautiful build of a beautiful car. Well done. I can see some Corvette in there in the windshield and the front and rear fender curves in the side view. Slight, but I can see it. Deffinatly a Maserati influence though.

Thanks for all the comments! The final color is going to be Boyd's Lime Pearl for the majority of the body (the part thats white right now) with the traditional white back-half (the part covered in tape right now). I'll be working on moving the motor back a few inches and relieving the firewall where the heads hit it. I'm not sure if I'll just tweak the kit firewall or scratch build a new one. More to come soon, hopefully!

I've got a problem with trying to do too many projects at once. Oh well, it's fun. Here's a mock up of where my Nomad is at right now. I've been working on getting the stance right and I think I've nailed it and was even able to maintain some ground clearance for the front end. I was able to mock up the engine bay with the big block and looks like I'm going to have to massage the firewall and rework the placement for the radiator so that there's clearance for the belts. I'll probably go with an electric, radiator mounted fan too, if I can find one. Thanks for looking, comments appriciated! <img src="http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r185/rpsilva7/RM%201956%20Nomad/DSCN2070.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /> <img src="http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r185/rpsilva7/RM%201956%20Nomad/DSCN2071.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /> <img src="http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r185/rpsilva7/RM%201956%20Nomad/DSCN2072.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /> <img src="http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r185/rpsilva7/RM%201956%20Nomad/DSCN2073.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

Best/Worst Winter Vehicles!
Ryan S. replied to Chuck Most's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Being in the Bay Area (California) we don't get snow, but I snowboard so I'm up in Tahoe enough to know what driving in snow is like. I drive a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer and I love it. It drives like a car, tight turn radius and smooth handling but the inline 6 that it's got really has some balls. I've got the 4WD package and I have never had to put chains on it even in some pretty aweful conditions, it just chews up the snow and spits it out. Worst in the snow I've driven; my parents used to have a 92 Ford Explorer POS. That thing was horrible. Drove and rode rough, more like a truck. The traction and 4WD was rough and tricky to get in and out off. I just hated that thing. My 94 Honda Civic HB was better in the snow than the Explorer was. I don't miss it. -
Marcos, that 'Vette is just cherry. I love it in the silver with the red interior. What kit is that? It's a '62 right?
