Good luck to our northern neighbors
shucky replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I wasn't so lucky to "just" get the 22 inches of snow, the wind whipped up to create a massive 40+ inches in my driveway and 5 feet on my back sidewalk! I dragged the wife out in her jammies to get that last pic -
Oh my those are nice! I didn't know Modelhaus had those. What's nice about the Modelhaus tires, at least all the ones I have are that they are hard black resin not rubber. This allows you to increase the diameter slightly quite easily with a dremel to fit a variety of wheels if need be. I was able to fit some slot car billet wheels (fronts and backs) in white wall skinnies and white wall slicks this way. I'm gonna have to order these...

That looks beautiful, nice job!

Resin Prochargers available NOW!
shucky replied to shucky's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
In order to satisfy everyone I've updated my pricing on my Fotki for A La Carte pricing on the superchargers! By ordering a full kit you will save $.50 cents over purchasing everything separately for all versions. However, the A La Carte pricing option allows you to purchase whatever you want to mix and match! Blower only (use your own pulleys), pulley kits (drag cogged, street narrow, street wide), or blower belts (drag cogged, street narrow, street wide). 2 piece blower only - $4.25 cogged pulley kit - $2.00 cogged belt 6.5 inch length - $1.75 standard pulley kit narrow or wide - $2.00 standard rubber belt material (enough to make many!) - $1.00 Cogged drag full kit remains $7.50 Standard street full kit narrow or wide reduced to $6.75 Anyone who already ordered at old price will be contacted immediately. Hope the new price structure and "a la carte" menu is appealing to everyone interested now. Thanks everyone for the support! Lets build some boost! Mike -
Resin Prochargers available NOW!
shucky replied to shucky's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Emails replied. Also, some have commented on the price. Please know the belts are manufactured for me to my specifications which mate perfectly to the pulleys I mastered. This is a detail I could not do without and the goal was the ultimate in realism for these kits which is something I strive for on my scratch built items. I would not feel comfortable offering anything less which would cheapen or degrade the quality of the product. Know that I have 2 1/2 months so far in this supercharger project and I do it to not only ensure I can utilize these unique products on my own projects but more importantly to offer the same exact products to fellow builders, not a watered down version. If at some time I can reduce manufacturing costs on the belts I will pass the savings along to you guys with a reduced price and also take care of existing customers. Thanks all, Mike -
Resin Prochargers available NOW!

IM's replied to. Folks, please note shipping on all resin orders is still a FLAT $2.00. My Fotki states shipping is $3.00 but that will be updated tonight when I get home. Thanks so much for your interest. Mike -
Hello folks, the wait is over! Good news for those who have been so patiently waiting and inquiring about these. My resin centrifugal "Procharger" style superchargers are NOW available. There will be 3 versions (cogged drag, street [wide belt], and street [narrow belt]) The 2 piece supercharger is my finest resin cast item and is entirely scratch built and mastered by me. I also was not convinced by the current offerings of cogged pulleys and belts therefore I decided to craft my own. Much time was invested to create these "true cog" pulleys but the result was well worth it. The cogged belt mates perfectly with the cogged crank and s/c pulley for the utmost in supercharger detailing and realism. Please disregard the small pulley in the pictures. I decided to master 2 new sets of street pulleys (both wide and narrow) to make this unit more compatible with various projects. Pics of the new street pulleys will be posted in about 1 week. So each 2 piece supercharger will come with a crank pulley, supercharger pulley, and belt. You'll need to craft an idler pulley which can easily be done using styrene tube/rod or aluminum as well as a mounting bracket (styrene) to mount the s/c to your engine. The cogged s/c pulley is pre-tapped for a detailing mounting bolt and the face of the cogged crank pulley also features this detail with provisions for mounting hardware if you so choose to add it. Additional cogged belts, regular rubber (street belts), and various pulley kits are all available separately. Thank you guys for being patient. My Fotki has been updated with pics, pricing, info, and some new products.

How do you guys make a fuel block?
shucky replied to Bernard Kron's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Same here. That ones fairly easy to make using spare styrene bits and appropriate holes drilled. -
That interior looks fantastic! Very nice clean job so far. Cant wait to see more updates. Also, the black wheels are definitely the business. Your doing an incredible job! By the way, welcome aboard!

Cesar nice job! Always looking forward to your next update. Merry Christmas buddy.

Need help - color of 94 Mustang GT chassis?
shucky replied to shucky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Guys thanks very much! I'm not sure I'm feelin' the factory primer grey undercarriage for a model car. Guess I'll need to experiment a bit and see what I like best. Appreciate the detailed photos, they'll be a great help on this project. Thanks! -
If you plan on chopping the trans off anyways, I would do a 1 piece mold with the back of the engine laying flat on your work surface (that is if the block is 1 solid piece). Any mounting holes, etc you could fill from the backside (inside) with clay or tape. This way you have zero mold lines and zero clean up that you might normally have on a 2 piece mold. You could also cut a small slit in the mold to help you remove your master and copy. I would probably leave off the intake mani so detailing it is easier as a separate piece.

May I ask what those covers cost you to have him machine 1 off's for you? Usually custom orders of 1 off's are quite expensive. Do tell.

'56 Ford Sedan Delivery / '40 Coupe Gassers

Where are those wheels from on the '56? They look awesome! -
Sometimes where you think the pour/vent holes are supposed to go doesn't always wind up that way. Sometimes it is trial and error (plus some good old fashioned experience) lol. I will snap a couple pics tomorrow for you of a couple two piece molds. It's hard for me at least to say one way or another where exactly the pour and vent holes should go. It's not exact science and can vary by specific part/mold your working with. It's just been my experience thus far that these holes / channels need to be VERY close to each other to avoid filling problems and giant bubbles. Perhaps it's just because of the items I've been working with, I don't know, but that's been my experience so far.
-
Just as Ryan mentioned, you may have trouble filling the mold with the vent lower than the pour hole. If it fills, in between these 2 tubes is where you'll most likely wind up with a bubble. I try to keep my pour/vent holes (on the inner part of the mold, where the void that your trying to fill up with resin) within 1/32 of an inch of each other.
-
If you dont mind a lil advice ... I would put another "key" (locating hole) in the upper right of the mold and move the blue tubes you have there for venting/pouring closer together towards the top of the wheel. You could remove the blue tubes all together and carve your pour/vent channels after the mold is complete with a sharp Xacto. Also, thats a very intricate wheel design with very many thin area's. I hope you have the area behind the spokes completely sealed against clay or something, otherwise you wont get the wheel back out w/out cutting behind every spoke.
