  1. Or Revell already filtered out what they wanted and gave Drew the remaining 28. 28 entries is very hard to believe.
  2. What is the best product (liquid decal film) to spray over the Keith Marks decals? Any recommendations?
  3. David T. - did you spray the duplicolor chrome over a black base or ?? It looks great. David E. - I use the same primer on everything over bare plastic and never had an issue.
  4. Where I'm at now. More shaping of the manifold and planning my detailing items to ensure everything is going to fit. Made the distributor from styrene and aluminum tubing. More mock up's. Next up is fine tuning the intake manifold, building an inlet/throttle body, fuel injectors, fuel rails, and the Procharger mounts. Once I'm certain the blower lines up and everything sits nicely in the car I'll soak the engine in hot water for a tear down, get everything in primer and start detailing and putting this thing together. I tend to take my time when I build so there aren't updates 3 x per day lol so thanks for your patience. Thanks for looking!
  5. This project hasn't stalled, I've just been spending much time with measuring, mock up's, and the over all layout of the engine. Right now I'm building up the main parts of the engine with white glue. Here is what I've been working on ... Was playing around with my Micro Mark punch set and came up with a quick and easy valve cover breather solution. These are discs punched from aluminum sheet and then I punched a slightly smaller disc from craft foam (hobby lobby). These stack up nicely and the foam comes in many colors and gives you a nice realistic texture to boot. I may not use these on this build, but thought I 'd post the pics nonetheless. Next up is the intake manifold that I started with (Nascar kit). It needed lots of attention! I stripped the chrome in the purple stuff and sanded the sides down carefully using a micro disc sander until it fit my engine. To build the manifold back up I strictly used styrene bits.
  6. Mark, well said. I was nitpicking the contest aspect of it. It was a great PR campaign though.
  7. I'm sure it was hard to pick winners. Not because of the photos or so many wonderful builds but because they had to pick the best of the average? Lol ... Great they sold some models and got some exposure for the hobby but that is only half the story here. I'm glad I didn't enter as I had a feeling this was going to happen. They should fire the panel of "modeling authority" they used for advice.
  8. Than it wasn't a skills contest nor a contest at all really. Picking "average" or above average is not picking the best. Great of them to get more people to build and spend money on their products but the rest is a farce.
  9. Does this stuff rust tools like balsa foam? Also there does not seem to be a place to get it in small modeler friendly sizes, at least from the research I've done. And the bigger stuff is not cheap.
  10. Wow, no offense to the winners but not too impressive considering this was a "skills" contest.
  11. Tonio your painting skills are off the hook! Thats awesome man, keep up the outstanding work.
  12. Mark that's really looking nice. Sorry if I missed it but what is the trick to making the appearance of bubbles?
  13. Darin, thats pretty awesome. Thanks for sharing. I've always wanted to try making a wheel myself just haven't gotten around to it. I'm convinced you can pretty much make anything with styrene, lots of time, and files. Really nice job you did.
  14. Got into using thin strips of bmf myself. Then flat cut beading wire is used to make the adjusting screw which is epoxied in place.
  15. I just picked up some mold star myself to try out. Hopefully will work with it this week. What kind of issues are you guys having with the Alumilite stuff? Curious because I was thinking of trying some SmoothOn resin myself. Been through a bunch of batches of Alumilite white with pretty good success. What is it that your liking about smooth on as opposed to Alumilite? Steering wheels lookin good by the way.
  16. I like the new direction. Looks good. Keep it going.
  17. Brett, I have to admit that I wasn't sure the body was going to come back together when looking at the early shots but you pulled it off nicely! Its looking really sweet man, super great job!
  18. Some heads and valve covers fresh out of the mold. Masters are in front. Now its time to get to work on this thing. More to come!
  19. Wow Jeff your doing some major surgery to the diecast and it looks awesome so far. I found some 17 inch spindle mount fronts in billet (slot car stuff) that would look killer on here. I'll send ya a link. Nice job so far!
  20. Well no pics but the head and valve cover is in rubber. Should have pics tomorrow. Hope to have time to cast a few sets of each to play around with. Thanks for watching.
  21. Tyrone, that looks killer. Should be another awesome drag car from you. I'll be watching!
  22. Justin, pretty cool sled. Nice job. I like the color and interior and it sits just right.
  23. Thanks guys for the kind words. Brad, the mock up definitely has massive rake. I actually think it's kinda cool but I'm sure when the rear bumper goes on and I raise the front slightly it will not appear so drastic. Sam, the mini disc sander can be had at a few different places. I picked mine up from Micro Mark when it was on sale.
  24. Jeff, most of the slot car wheels I have come from here: http://fasteddiesworldofspeed.com/ He has an ebay store but if you need something special or in a special color he can get them.
  25. Nice work Jose. Can you show us the Krylon clear you overcoat the decals with?
