Agree with everyone else. Looks awesome! Love the rear tires too, I was gonna ask as well lol.
  5. Looks awesome! Nice job.
  6. Greg, I've been experimenting with resin for about 2 years now and have done pretty well with it but tires have been hit or miss with me. Thanks for sharing that link. Very interesting stuff in there. And not to hijack Franks thread, your stuff looks really nice too. Tires are looking good. Very informative post on so many levels. Thanks guys.
  7. Wheel score off Ebay. 24 Sets of wheels. They scale out to about 22's. Will probably trade or sell some off and keep a bunch. Mini Countryman All4 kit by Hasegawa. Awesome quality kit. Going to build it box stock for my wife since she just bought the real thing. Plus the new Camaro SS kit which is probably one of the nicest new kits I've purchased. Finally a Maisto diecast Mustang that I plan to rob of its wheels and make resin copies.
  8. Greg thats a funky mold. Can you share how you made it that way? I dont see any mold lines or pour/vent holes? Looks like you made a mold of the inside of the tire and then a mold of the entire tire encased in silicone? Curious to hear how you did it. Thanks.
  9. Bob where is Cedarville? I think I seen you at DuPage this year??
  10. Jason I have not but you can easily make the comparison between their offerings and what smooth on has and match up the products. I think most folks suggest to avoid "starter kits" because of the materials they include, as in, they try to give the user the basic ingredients to begin resin casting. Although some of the "basic" starter materials may not be the greatest in the long run, however, they may be the "easiest" to use for a beginner. I would suggest buying resin and rubber separately instead of a "starter" kit so you can pick and choose what you'd like. You can buy small sizes for experimenting from Alumilite or Smooth On of resin as well as rubber. I have used Alumilite white for about 2 years now w/out any issues, although it doesn't give you much working time which some people do not like (I dont mind). I'm going to try some of Smooth On's products next to experiment, perhaps something that allows a bit more working time. I also have a sample of Mold Star 15 Platinum from Smooth On at home that I plan on trying this week. Heard good things about it. Its 1:1 mix ratio so a measuring scale is not necessary. If you can get your hands on it, I'd suggest getting the Alumilite DVD. Its pretty informative and will give you the basic understanding of resin casting, mold making, materials being used, etc.
  11. Dr. Cranky ... this is one of the coolest paint jobs that I've seen yet. Very creative and far out (literally!) Awesome job Virgil.

    62 Impala

Awesome looking Impala. Love the color combo.
  13. I agree, rake looks good but I think the back should sit a tiny bit lower.
  14. Micro Mark IS relabled Smooth On.
  15. Got this in the mail a couple weeks ago. Read all the way through it in one sitting and it stays on my coffee table for frequent browsing. Absolutely love this book! Lots of inspiration, eye candy, tips, tricks, and over-all modeling goodness. Thanks Dr. Cranky for being who you are and inspiring so many to just build models and try new things. I couldn't stop talking about this book and Dr. Cranky to my wife (she thought I was a lil nutzo!)
  16. Frank, Alumilite is showing all the Flex series as "out of stock." I'm wondering if there is a problem with their latest formula? I'm not a fan of the flex series at all. In particular Flex 40 has massive shrinkage after a number of months. I have tires 40% smaller than when I cast them. Not a very reliable product. Try getting with Carol at Alumilite if your having issues.
  17. Nice start! Everything is looking great. Tuned in for more progress.
  18. ?? what exactly is wrong Frank? What kind of mold rubber is that deep blue stuff ??
  19. Well thats that lol . I'll run a dedicated vent just for the booth. You guys are bringing up all the concerns I had as well. That settles it, back to Home Depot. Thanks MUCH fellas.
  20. Hi guys, yesterday my Pace paint booth showed up. I've wanted one for years and finally bit the bullet. I'm really stoked to get it hooked up and running. My questions are about venting it to the outside. My plan is to Y pipe the cloths dryer vent and run a flexible hose to the paint booth. HERE is the important question .... will any of the fumes get into the cloths dryer?? My wife is spazzzing a bit and worried the dryer may smell ?? Since I haven't tried it yet I just dont know. Anyone have any experience doing this ?? I was thinking I have two options to prevent this (if it will happen at all). Make an internal "flapper" that I can turn by lever open or closed to block off the dryer portion when I'm using the paint booth. OR worst case I'd have to disconnect the dryer portion and cap it off each time I use the paint booth. I'd rather NOT have to go that route. Anyone share any experiences on this with me ?? Thanks fellas.
  21. Art very nice and clean. Nice job.
  22. Luke, these are just awesome! The wheels on the very first picture, do you recall where they are from?
  23. Sorry then. I'm here everyday and didn't see those posts.
  24. Very nice Dr. Cranky. As usual ... awesome. Glossy or rusty, no matter.
