I just took a pencil and passed it right over the lines as you can see here, I think it gives it just the right sheen, you just have to be careful not to handle it much.... For your valve covers, after you paint them black, preferrably Flat, you can use these pastes that I bought at Michael's Crafts Store. What you do is just dab a little bit on top of your workbench, put a little bit on your finger and after using your other hand as a pallete and taking some excess off just rub off the paste above the raised lines of your valve covers, you should be able to clearly see the lines without messing up the valve covers. You can also do this with a flat brush! At the end, if you want your valve covers with a bit of a semi gloss look you can always spray them at the end.

You did an excellent job on this my friend!!!! I like it very much!!!!

Hey Abe, I really think you will like this!!

Listen to Bill on this, I use the same system and it works great!!!Thanks for the tip Bill!!!

Thanks Jay, yes, this is the Fujimi kit and a nice one at that. The stance that you see is the final onobstructed one, these Japanese kits are usually good when it comes to that. The texture that you see painted in red which will mount on top of the engine is slightly done by shooting it at a pretty far distance to recreate it.

Never been a fan of open wheel racing but I am a big fan of excellent model building craftsmanship, this is fantastic work my friend, always enjoy your work!!!

Thank you for the comments fellas. Here is the model after painting it last night, got to bed at 5:00 in the morning but it was worth it. I am not too happy with the panel lines around the doors so I will be working with them a bit more. I will have to wetsand it and polish it once it's nice and dry so I still have a bit more to go. I am currently working on the interior, not much more to go after that. Hope you guys like!!!!!

Looks like an interesting project my friend, when you put this much detail into a model it's hard for people to find it boring so you go ahead and post your progress pictures, I am sure everyone in the forum will agree with me 1000%!!!!!!!!

David, your work is always top notch man, this thing is awesome anyway you look at it, WOW!!!!!!

Like I said, the car is in the spray booth as I speak and later I will post more pictures of the progress. Thanks for looking my fellow glue sniffers!!!

These pictures show the parts painted and the parts w/ added pastels for shading and simulation of the leather look I am going for.

Detailed some of the very few engine parts like the ones shown in these pictures. I like using the Citadel line of paints in conjunction with the Testors Metalizers to simulate the variuos metallic parts around the engine.
-
I Alcladed the Discs w/ Aluminum Alclad, I like the contrast they will have against the Aluminum rims that come w/ the kit. I painted the calipers w/ Testors flat red, brushed two coats of Future floor wax on them and finally placed the Ferrari decal logo.

This is something I decided to do just to kill some time before making a final decision on which project to attack next, might just be the new Revell Nova, at least that's the first one on my list. The paint will be Tamiya Chrome Yellow w/ Tamiya clear. It has a very simplified engine, I consider this to be more of a curbside than anything else which is perfect considering that it's a time killing build just to keep me busy. I love the bodylines on this car, then again, which Ferrari isn't considered beautiful? I decided to go with waterbased Acrylic paints for the interior while at the same time using pastels for shading and finally emulating a leather interior, something I saw in a model magazine a few weeks back and decided to incorporate into this build. The car is being painted as I post this message and the corresponding pictures, hope you guys like it!!! The first thing I decided to start with is removing the simulated plastic mesh and eventually add some leftover mesh I had in my spare parts box. I will have to cut it to size once the car is painted.

It makes me a little sad to hear the negative stories about some of the moms around here but not everyone is perfect and I think I understand. As for me, I thank God for giving me the most beautiful gift of all, of course my beautiful Mom, there is nothing in this world that I love more than her, she is my friend and the most important person in my life bar none!!!

Very cool man, try taking photos outside but not in direct sunlight, it will look better that way believe me!!!

Hey Jay, thanks man, those are the ones I use myself. Well, what can I say that has not already been said around these parts concerning the application and polishing of paint! You will see that a lot of the guys have their methods, some similar, others slightly different but when it comes to a good paint, foundation is the key. First of all, I personally like wet sanding my paints, I think it's something you should try but after you have mastered the art of drysanding first. You didn't say if you have a clear coat on your model or if you are just sanding the basecolor itself. You should have enough paint on your model so that you don't go through your paint and onto your primer while polishing. Learn to keep away from the sharp edges as paints never really settle around them in the first place. If you turned out with a slight orange peel on your finish, there is no need to start with the 3200. Be patient and make sure that you constantly check your progress. I suggest that you have a few bodies around before attacking your first project and practice, practice, that is the key. I am going to stop here and hope that some of the experienced guys join in and help you with your question, it will show you the diversity in which everybody goes around doing this. You can also go to italianhorses.net, they have a nice tutorial on painting and also lots of other cool tips. Also, if you go into the General posts section, you will notice that Bob Downie just put up 2 really cool links to aid you with your questions. Other than that good luck!!!

Welcome, as you can see the modelling gods have spoken!!! Great advice from all of them. In my humble opinion, joining a model car club is always of great help, you will positively learn quicker and better by doing this but to tell you the truth, just keep up with this forum, it will be your best teacher. Lots of talented individuals here ready and able to answer any questions and concerns..... -
