  1. Hey Lyle, can you see up the figurine's skirt? I hear you detail that part really good!!!! I have some left over flocking if you want to use it, it is neon pink but then again you know these women are dying everything nowadays!!!!
  2. I use the Devcon myself and never had any issues, works great for me. Just make sure that the parts you are putting together are aligned and ready to glue, you have to work quickly with this stuff and like Clamm says, don't get anything generic, always pay a little extra and go with the name brands, that's why they cost extra!
  3. Here are some pics of the embossing powder look.....
  4. Very nice choice of rims there, I have always loved that year Corvette!!!!

Oh come on!! I am sure the first time came out nice you are just a picky son of a gun!!!
  6. Welcome Ed, always excited to see new people in the forums!!! You will like it here and certainly will make a lot of good friends!!!
  7. Terrific job my friend, you nailed the classic look on this model!!!! The scallops are great in conjunction w/ the rims!!!
  8. Thanks for chiming in Bill, I bought about 5 bottles of this thing also, I know how well they perform and it's exactly what I will use to paint that roof. I like the fact that you can brush it, that way I don't have to go too crazy with masking but I still might decide to airbrush it, you know how it is, once you get used to the benefits of an airbrush you are least likely to go back to the old fashion ways!!!

Congratulations guys on a job well done!!!
  10. That's really cool man, nice work!!!!!
  11. As per Jairus' advice, I went out and bought this 3M Spray Mount adhesive to replicate the vinyl roof I intend to put on this car. I loved the results. My boy Luis in Puerto Rico uses the Detail Master vinyl tops that they sell but I got kind of intimidated with the way you have to lay them down, I just wanted something a little easier.
  12. Jairus, you are a genius man, I decided to try the 3M glue trick for the vinyl top and I am absolutely in love with the results man!!! It went on perfectly and once I laid my semi-gloss coats it really popped!!! I laid 2 soft glue coats within 1/2 hr. of each other and the rest is history. People, go out and try this!!!! This is how the can looks, I got it at Michael's..... If this is not a vinyl top look I don't know what it is!!!!! I took a picture with a lot of light bouncing off the spoon, it is less glossier than this. I used a mixture of gloss and flat back for a semi gloss look, I can always play w/ this mixture and ultimately come out with the glossy or satiny surface I want.....
  13. Just when we think we are getting better at this modeling stuff along comes an alien like that and blows us right back into reality!!! That is simply awesome!!!!!
  14. I like that Harry, the less work, the better. I thought about that but didn't think the orange peel would be convincing, seeing the picture of your model proved me wrong! That's how I like it, w/ pictures!! Thanks!!!
  15. I have heard from the masking tape trick to the textured paint, how would you guys go around doing this???? I want to do it for the first time either w/ my current build or on a future '69 Nova project!!!
  16. Vinyl top looks good, how are you planning on doing it? Textured paint? Masking tape? What medium? I want to do a vinyl top on mine but I would like to see different inputs on this...
  17. I thought it was a GTX, he used a Charger in the first movie.
  18. I agree with Jairus, can't see anything working better than BMF, I have tried a few things myself and nothing else really works like BMF......
  19. Excellent, I have the Pearl Ex pigments too, got them from Michael's, just have to put them to use one of these days. Again, cool build Peter, pretty unique and one you won't see around the contest tables!!!!
  20. I decided to start on this '68 Charger after much thinking instead of the Nova, I think I want to see a couple of the Novas put together, it will give me more ideas later to see what I want to do with mine but in the meantime, I think I am going with this.... First thing I did was remove the awful mold lines just above the back wheel humps right next to the windows, it will be the first thing you notice when you buy the kit. It is good to have a variety of sanding sticks, from the round to the flat ones to get into the little crevices around the areas without compromising details while sanding them. I also went ahead and as usual scribed all the panel lines and darkened them even before priming, I will do this again after priming... I am thinking of painting the Charger with Tamiya's Light Gunmetal and I am also thinking of implementing a black vinyl top which means I will have to get some plastic stock to achieve this. I am also thinking of a darkish red/burgundish interior to go with the exterior color. I am also adding these simple dog dished wheels w/ redlines, I want that sleeper look because I am still adding the beautiful headers that come in the kit probably onto the stock engine, I can still see me changing my mind on this. Those tires came from the Lindberg '66 Chevelle kit and make the perfect redlines, all I did was add flat red Testors enamel paint into the lines already etched in the tires and just remove the excess paint w/ mineral spirits just before the paint dried.

I love what you did with this one Andy, one of my favorite kits!!!
  22. Somehow, I don't think that's gonna happen John, just make sure to bring your big scale stuff together with your regular builds, I am sure you will going to wow a lot of us up here!!!! We have our annual picnic next month, if you are interested in coming just PM me the week before the meeting, the guys would love to meet you, and yes, we display our models on the tables just like in our regular meetings!!!
