  1. Mazda is Aoshima, thanks!!!
  2. I did the Mazda about 5 months ago, you probably didn't make it to the meeting when I brought it. Hey Bob, you are correct about the Tamiya cans, I also decant them but also finish my last clear coats w/ the can......
  3. Have you tried using Tamiya Smoke? Comes in the spray can and goes on well. You just have to make sure to mist the coats as you apply it, this paint will run on you really quick so you really have to mist it until you get the desired shade. I have had great success w/ it.......
  4. Thanks for the pics Dan, cool stuff there man!!!!
  5. If it can't take closeups up the figurines skirts you might as well return it and keep the old one!!!!!
  6. Hey, don't get it wrong, I am just "detail" oriented" okay!!!!!!
  7. Hey Lyle, can you see up the figurine's skirt? I hear you detail that part really good!!!! I have some left over flocking if you want to use it, it is neon pink but then again you know these women are dying everything nowadays!!!!
  8. I use the Devcon myself and never had any issues, works great for me. Just make sure that the parts you are putting together are aligned and ready to glue, you have to work quickly with this stuff and like Clamm says, don't get anything generic, always pay a little extra and go with the name brands, that's why they cost extra!
  9. Here are some pics of the embossing powder look.....
  10. Very nice choice of rims there, I have always loved that year Corvette!!!!

    Shelby Fastback

Oh come on!! I am sure the first time came out nice you are just a picky son of a gun!!!
  12. Welcome Ed, always excited to see new people in the forums!!! You will like it here and certainly will make a lot of good friends!!!
  13. Terrific job my friend, you nailed the classic look on this model!!!! The scallops are great in conjunction w/ the rims!!!
  14. Thanks for chiming in Bill, I bought about 5 bottles of this thing also, I know how well they perform and it's exactly what I will use to paint that roof. I like the fact that you can brush it, that way I don't have to go too crazy with masking but I still might decide to airbrush it, you know how it is, once you get used to the benefits of an airbrush you are least likely to go back to the old fashion ways!!!

    1961 Impala

Congratulations guys on a job well done!!!
  16. That's really cool man, nice work!!!!!
  17. As per Jairus' advice, I went out and bought this 3M Spray Mount adhesive to replicate the vinyl roof I intend to put on this car. I loved the results. My boy Luis in Puerto Rico uses the Detail Master vinyl tops that they sell but I got kind of intimidated with the way you have to lay them down, I just wanted something a little easier.
  18. Jairus, you are a genius man, I decided to try the 3M glue trick for the vinyl top and I am absolutely in love with the results man!!! It went on perfectly and once I laid my semi-gloss coats it really popped!!! I laid 2 soft glue coats within 1/2 hr. of each other and the rest is history. People, go out and try this!!!! This is how the can looks, I got it at Michael's..... If this is not a vinyl top look I don't know what it is!!!!! I took a picture with a lot of light bouncing off the spoon, it is less glossier than this. I used a mixture of gloss and flat back for a semi gloss look, I can always play w/ this mixture and ultimately come out with the glossy or satiny surface I want.....
  19. Just when we think we are getting better at this modeling stuff along comes an alien like that and blows us right back into reality!!! That is simply awesome!!!!!
  20. I like that Harry, the less work, the better. I thought about that but didn't think the orange peel would be convincing, seeing the picture of your model proved me wrong! That's how I like it, w/ pictures!! Thanks!!!
  21. I have heard from the masking tape trick to the textured paint, how would you guys go around doing this???? I want to do it for the first time either w/ my current build or on a future '69 Nova project!!!
  22. Vinyl top looks good, how are you planning on doing it? Textured paint? Masking tape? What medium? I want to do a vinyl top on mine but I would like to see different inputs on this...
  23. I thought it was a GTX, he used a Charger in the first movie.
  24. I agree with Jairus, can't see anything working better than BMF, I have tried a few things myself and nothing else really works like BMF......
