MAMA's 18th Anniversary meeting pics
cruz replied to Lyle Willits's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hey, with the way this Shapiro kid builds I see him as president very soon! Congratulations to our Godfather Norman Veber, couldn't imagine going to these meetings without him being there, we love you Norm....... -
Hey bro, are you far from York, we have a great club there, love to see new members. Central PA model car club 8)

Hey Dave, why not try the Tamiya X-22 clear and airbrush it since you are handy with the airbrush? You saw how nice Bill Geary's brown car came out with that clear. I tried it on a hood of a mini cooper and Bill saw it so I think it would be the best way to go. Personally I think Future is a little to thick and even though you might be able to thin it I still say it should be kept for what it was meant to do, floors....... :?

Hey brother, personally I have not had any problems with that line of paints and I can guarantee you is not the paint. What type or brand of primer are you using? Are you giving your primer enough time to dry? Personally I like to give my primers 24 hours for drying. Are you misting your first coats? It could be a million reasons but don't put it away, sand it and restart bro, you might have better luck the next time around. Good luck....

It's not how old you are, is how much longer will we be able to build these models with these old eyes and shaky hands  44 years young! :?

Airbrush and Alclad....
cruz replied to slotbaker's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's what I have, a crescendo too. I shoot my alclad at 12 psi with the big tip. I don't worry much about tip size but about pressure and a very glossy wet coat for the black. I make sure that the paint is very warm before I shoot it and I always put at least 4 coats before I shoot the Alclad. I make sure that the paint is dry 24 hours before alclading, I think it works best but mainly because after 10 minutes of shooting the alclad I take a flannel cloth and kind of polish it lightly, I love the results. -

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN: Presenting: Finished Z06 *PICS*
cruz replied to ismaelg's topic in WIP: Model Cars
http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/model_clu...2/dscn1448.html Here is another Vette from my collection, I think I will be putting that new Vette together soon, it is a nice model. -
http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/model_clu...4/dscn2177.html Aside from the usual drag racing cars that we like in Puerto Rico this is one of the most popular in the island. Down there they will race anything from piston driven cars to the all popular rotary engines. I decided to use the chassis from the revell Berreta so I had to shorten the front to fit the tires and also a bit of roll cage reduction to get it in there, other than that it went pretty and surprisingly well. Hope you guys like it

Thanks Steve, I was browsing through your personal pictures and you do very good work, I loved that pickup you did. 8)

Hey Steve, nice to meet you. Actually that is not red but Hugger Orange from the new Testors Lacquers. For some reason the picture came out dark when they shot it.

http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/model_clu...5/dscn6375.html I love the European models also, big fan of the Porsches bro 8) 8)
-
Is that the choice of tires and rims for this project? If yes, sweeeet! 8) 8)
-
Thanks Manny. Hey bill, it took a lot of fitting and testing to get this one done. Those rear tires and rims are from a Hot Rod Celica from I believe Hasegawa or Fujimi and the front rims are from a resin cast from Norm after I Alcladed them. A lot of other parts were also Alcladed, these kits are a nightmare with their crazy and full of mold lines chrome.

Just to let you know when I purchased the system it states that you should use the white base for pearls and the silver for candies. I don't usually use these paints from House of color but this is a line of paints that wal-mart was selling and I decided to use them. You make a lot of sense when you say that I have to make sure to use the right base but I used what the system reccomended. Like I said I am happy with the results, my big doubt is if anybody has used the same color and what did they come up with. Thanks for your concern man! 8)
-
Thanks Manny, I used their 3 step system which is the white base first followed by the base color which is Tangelo and Clear coat from the system. To tell you the truth I think that this is what Tangelo is suppose to be, something like a butterscoth look but I was talking with Billy Stillwagon which is one of the most awesome painters I have known and he told me that I might have grabbed a defective or wrong colored can. What do you or anybody else think? I mean, I am happy it came out like this because it is an unusual color but can anybody out there tell me if they have used this paint and Tangelo color?
