  1. Man you get a lot of usage out of that hex rod material. Beautiful.
  2. I vaguely remember seeing similar in a Tommy Ivo TV show-how nuts am I???
  3. Harry who??? Beautiful work Frank. What original kit was this from? You 2 brass guys are burying us sports racers guys... Ooops-I see it in the title-ITC...
  4. I'd say 1/2 round rod, angle cut on the ends with a black paint stripe for the 'opening'. They look great.
  5. It did tun out very well Thomas. Weathering is my favorite and you nailed it. Think like the air...
  6. I don't Skip would mind if you used the less accurate but more detailed Mercer and I'd build it that way. By your track record (pun intended) you're gonna reinvent the wheel (pi again) with all the detail you're slathering on this thing-build the simpler to assemble highly detailed Mercer instead of going nuts to correct it to Stutz. Besides, maybe only Skip would know the difference between the Stutz and Mercer 'plants...it won't detract from the excellence you make of this. My .02.
  7. Har-What diameter drill bit do you use for most of these pin-tigether parts? Also-somebody wake up Skip and tell him that school's in session!
  8. Well said Harry but an understatement at that. Skip is a marvelous archivist of wonderful, tasteful cars of distinction and historical significance. He collects reams of stuff of interest to him and becomes expert on every subject he chooses. But as Harry said, beyond all that, he freely shares as a contributor here and contacts many individuals to offer reference assistance on complex and obscure builds. Harry's Rolls, Teresi's Benz hauler, several Gullwing builds and many large scale models over on SMC are but a few examples. He's a talented and kind man who deserves recognition like this. More of us should share as he does. Harry-do your usual over-the-top and show Skip how this should look. It's a great 'thank you'.
  9. Great engine bay. See my comment in your Cobra thread.

Please take more and better quality pictures. Your excellent work on the 3 models screams for it.
  11. Perfectly said. This generation's favorite cars (if they even have any) are not what's being manufactured today and they don't relate. Revell et al are only selling to the 40 to 70-age generations and ignore that we want the quality that the a/c and armor guys get.
  12. Anyone notice how lavish and exact the detail on much of the aircraft and armor stuff is compared to car models? Yes-the price is higher but you get more than what you pay for with them. This Typhoon will only sell for near $125 at street price. Pocher's new Lambo isn't this nice in accuracy or detail. I wish the model car manufacturers had this mentality-despite the carping here about prices. The engines in general look like BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH compared to this-even in 1/12 scale.
  13. So what's the bad part?
  14. Cameron, If accuracy is paramount to you, be careful of the reference sources you select. The photo you provide is most likely a Superformance MK III replica, not a CSX 4000 as labeled. The forward-on-top radiator, sharp nose lip and a non-original hood scoop suggest that. Many Cobras posted on line are replicas and the posters don't know that. The magnesium Halibrands shown by JC are nicely done. However their 1:1 dimensions are 7 1/2" F, 9.5" R. They have different backspacing. Aluminum replicas made by Trigo and Vintage Wheel are dimensionally correct, but you can spot them because the valve stem is in the web, not the rim face as Halibrands. Real Halibrands and Trigo replicas are 6 pin drive, Vintage's are 5 pin with bolt on adapter. GT-40 wheels are noticeably different than Cobra II's in the web area.
  15. How about a PRE-brass era for your next project? http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2014/01/28/first-porsche-resurfaces-after-112-years/?intcmp=features
  16. Beautiful job Har-first ever in history 'pimp my ride' car??
  17. Yep that's it-thanks.
  18. Just to be clear-so you're saying it is enamel Harry?
  19. 'Paint + primer'...enamel Harry?
  20. -and then there's the group making '69 Camaros... A complex and not enticing build prospect. There is nothing in those shells. Edit: Dynacorn ,I believe is the company-also off-shore.
  21. Yeah-I'd cut the top 3" and add a Boss 429...
