  1. Man, bare-bones, stripped-down racecar. Bring it to life Rick.
  2. Fantastic post-thanks Frank.
  3. You guys have (for me), made this the best category on the forum. Great contributions of history and methods, big talent, no controversy and cool cars that have been largely forgotten. Not any more.
  4. Don't tell me you edited-out the 'build' line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Beautiful-but don't call it a 'build'....
  6. Very cool using pop rivets for brake bleeders. Not too out of scale. Excellent work.
  7. Thanks Frank. About the Alfas-that deep red-brown always reminds me of dried blood. Imagine Duplicolor coming out a color called with 'Dried Blood'??
  8. I especially like the maroon Frank; what make and type paint is that? It reminds me of the Alfa racing color of the early '30's.
  9. I'd go with dark gray...
  10. It's apparent why they were called 'brass era cars'-you needed BIG BRASS ONES to drive 'em 100mph!
  11. Man-think about flyin' down the road about 50mph perched on that thing. It wants to throw you out, the wind wants to rip you out and the motors tryin' to deafen you and the chain is roarin'. All the controls and pedals have high efforts and what's worse it doesn't wanna stop when you try braking. God I wish I had one.........
  12. Hoooray! And keep posting those beautiful snaps!
  13. Spoken like the four-decade plus wordsmith you are.
  14. That's where you paste the code you got from P'bucket!
  15. Frank-p'bucket is easy. I open a thread here and hit the reply button with 'more options'. That gives you the full editor. Begin a post so you can insert your picture in your post. In another window, I open P/B and follow the prompts to open an album. Then select 'upload photos'. Your picture folders will be listed and select a file (picture) you want. Upload it in a 'medium' or 'large' size. When the picture appears on P/B, there's a small 'gear' icon on the upper right of it. Click that and select 'get links', At the bottom of the list, left click that and it will illuminate 'copied'. Then go to your MCM post and look for an icon across the top that shows a 'link-or lock'. Click that and then right click and paste in the code you got from P/B. Them select 'preview message' and your picture will be there. HTH-'cause your stuff's too good not to be seen here.
  16. That's what I demanded in post #172.
  17. I saw that car in a local shop at various points in the resto. You are right, it was amazingly good before work started. But the shop owner (long-time Ferrari specialist) bent backward for accurately fabricating some parts that were beyond useable or safe. He had a mandate from Loren to do that. What you don't see are things like rotted chassis braces, crossmembers and pedal pivots and some wonky wiring. The good news side of these types of resto are: A. No modifications B. The car will survive long after Loren and the next two owners-worth having in my view. But I certainly agree that, in general, over-resto is undesirable. Can't generalize that all top-flite restos are not warranted for preservation. I hate that in Cobras-cars owned or sold by Bruce Meyer and Bruce Canepa are examples that bear their personal ideas of what Cobras should look like today. Much better are the 'survivor' cars with use and patina.
  18. Delicious after the dehydrator...
  19. Haven't seen much of that fad on musclecars on the east coast here. No intent to offend you Austin. Actually, I used that term because it's more forum-acceptable than the slur I normally use to describe the vast majority of modified imports.
  20. All minus pin stripes...
  21. You can write in Martian if you like-your building skills are off the scale. Truly excellent and continue to show us progress.
  22. Loren's taste in his cars' selection and presentation is beyond reproach. I do agree that some owners have less good taste and can not only de-value a subject but just make it look dumb. The current rage in restored Cobras (not so much replicas) is the black wheel treatment. Many are buying aluminum Trigos (replicas of mag Halibrands) and 'murdering' them black-like the ricers do. Bruce Canepa seems to have started this a couple of years ago and many that his shop restores or fluffs- up leave with them. Not what purists dream of.
  23. Actually, Bernie will find out and let him know. So he can line his pockets better.
  24. I think lowered a bit that would work beautifully-especially with the Duvalle. Man you can't beat the beautiful pics on Conceptcarz...
  25. Erik, Perhaps along the lines of the Cobra LeMans hardtop?? Only lower. And vee'd slightly to match the windshield. It tapers into the rear deck and may require sectioning the rumble seat or trunk opening:
