  1. Actually Bill, thats a pretty darn nice version of that kit.... But yes, that kit is a disaster to try and work with. I built the coupe version years ago and it was awful....just awful.
  2. That sounds pretty bad, Drew. I've thrown 2 models in the trash....One was a multi-botched paint job that I just didn't feel like having to redo a third time....It was like the body was cursed or something. I had another kit on hand so the project eventually got done, but that first body and chassis was just a nightmare. It was like the plastic was bad or something and it just wouldn't accept primer or paint for some reason no matter how clean and smooth I got it. The second model that got tossed, was a TKM resin. TKM's are absolutely the worst resin bodies I have ever seen. I built one up several years earlier with acceptable results, but this particular one was so bad, that it simply couldn't be built and into the trash it went....I really don't know what possessed me that day, to even try to work on it.
  3. Well, unfortunately it seems pretty obvious that he hasn't sent it yet. Having to wait over 3 months for a resin product is absurd, and the lack of communication sure as hell doesn't help things. Thats just terrible business practices if you ask me. I'll bet " Mr. Reliable" didn't wait 3 months to add your money to his bank account. I'm sorry to hear this man, hope it somehow works out for you.
  4. Good points, Andy. Yeah the Heller kits seem like real monsters. The instructional booklets are nearly a quarter inch thick of reading material!. I've never bothered to build one however. The Pocher kits on the other hand are quite complex, but go together well....[at least thats what I've been told]. Your right though, we should try and seperate the kits that simply look awful, from the one's that just can't be built without serious hassles.
  5. Thats true....I forgot about that one... Yeah, that body looks absolutely terrible. It's not even close. The guys in the tooling department must have been on some heavy drugs and booze that day....
  6. That came out nice.... I built one of those several years ago....but yeah, the overall kit leaves alot to be desired.
  7. We've been hearing about some of the nicer kits out there, but out of curiosity, what's the worst kit you've ever built? You know, the one that just didn't want to go together very well, and had poor fitment, poor accuracy, and ended up as more of a division 1 NCAA wrestling match, rather than a nice and easy modeling session? Ive certainly built up a few reject kits over the years but a certain rally car I built several years ago from Italeri, [sorry, I can't remember the kit number], was absolutely terrible!! I had to literally shave off 1/16- 1/8 of an inch of plastic from nearly every major part in order to get it together. The front and rear window "glass" was warped, too small, and did not fit at all. The side glass didn't allow the body to sit all the way down on the chassis and had to be trimmed in 1/16th of an inch, otherwise it would have left a huge gap between the body and floor. The roll cage also needed serious trimming because it came in contact with the inner roof. To make matters worse, the dashboard bottomed out against the inner front glass long before the body was all the way down and mated to the chassis, and required yet another annoying trimming session. The engine looked nothing like the protoype, and the upper cross brace did not allow the hood to shut. Even with the cross brace eliminated, I still had to shave an additional 1/16 of an inch off the hood lip to get it to close.. The chassis also didn't allow all four wheels to touch the ground without heavy modifcations to the front and rear suspensions.....I have never had to do this much work on a box stock model.......... Any horror stories of your own?
  8. I noticed that as well. I recently stripped some old and new chrome parts, and the older stuff didn't appear to have any sort of undercoating at all, just bare plastic, whereas the new items where obviously covered with heavy globs of a yellowish clear base coat.
  9. Welcome aboard, Dante. I think you'll like it here. Theres lots of great builders and lots of helpfull advice. I should caution you however, that at times, we do have a few crazies running around loose but the orderlies usually have them rounded up and back on their meds, fairly quickly....
  10. Thanks Ron, have yourself a wonderful holiday as well.......Kind regards, Jeff
  11. Sure, I could have gone into a little more detail, but here on an open forum, I have little doubt that a few of our resident "short bus riders", would have jumped in and posted their mentally challenged responses, resulting in yet another moved or locked thread. The original question I had asked here, was actually in regards to a buddy of mine who wants to leave, and not myself..... [Hope this explains it].
  12. While we're at it, maybe we could also ask which bible people here prefer...........The old testament, king James, book of Mormon...... Then we could move on to which mortgage companies offer the best rates.... Let's get it all out of your systems in one super, duper, thread!!
  13. Who said I was going anywhere? I simply asked a question about closing out an account.... You all can now stop dancing around with great joy, and please put away the party hats, whistles, and champagne bottles......I AIN'T GOING ANYWHERE!!.......Sheeeesh.
  14. Some forums offer an option to close out a user account, but since I don't see that offered here, I'm assuming that only the mods can retire an account?
