  1. Fantastic build David and I love the Firefly connection. I loved that show! Great mix of cars and the machine guns and hatches are incredible!
  2. Thanks for the idea Harold and not a bad idea at all. I don't want to ruin this frame and I do want more detail even though its going to be in the weeds. I've seen a newer 2 in 1 kit and I'd like to have extra parts and check out the drag set up for other builds.
  3. Thanks again for the compliments. This was a fun build and I love the car as well. David I'd love to see your car at the Desert Scale Classic I found one similar to yours 4 sale and I wish I had the money grrr. I also need to bring the cars for the trade as well. Thanks everyone I'm glad this car is liked by you all as I know it's different but I think I did justice to this overhaul. - Happy Hobby'n
  4. Hey guys I have to say I'm sorry. I had a lot of stuff get in the way of my project. I did bite off more than I could chew at the moment at left it in a box. I will certainly get back to it but I feel bad for not posting anything in a long time. also any ideas for a roll cage for this would help. I'm ready to ditch this car due to I've built 4 cages and the roofline and I do not get along. So those met the garbage.
  5. Jason here is my test run on future. The shine is great but it left bubbles everywhere. You can see model boxes in the reflection. Maybe its the brush I used? I won't give up I think I was actually to sparing and did not put it on thick enough to 'level" ?? I am just tyring to figure out how to brush to cause this seems to be a subject most leave alone
  6. Mark I am so glad to know I'm not the only one that thinks tookpicks are paint brushes and Jon the template is awesome
  7. Great job and congrats on the win! The color almost forces texture and looks very good! The restore process with fresh chrome always makes people ask questions. I bet you loved building this one
  8. I was in you shoes a couple months ago! Great job getting one and when you get that first kit with that first check make sure you post it!
  9. Thanks Aaron! I have a bunch of 80's Monogram fighters that I need to somehow figure out slip between my cars
  10. I know of mainly work bench ones like Post Apoc, Muscle car, Import Drag, TV and Movie car, I think It's Jeep 4x4 and Truck. Oh and Lee's Order as you would build/ replica build. I think if these were grouped it would really help as Highway said. I feel the builds are great and gets a lot of members into it but what happens is you get some guys that are starting as others are finishing. Then you get a lot of projects in limbo and they fall fast down the pages until someone goes and updates. The search engine here works good but I know sometimes it's off and I can't find things. So new people would have no clue to look into, let alone join the builds. I personally think if we do this more would make builds. ( Just thought of group 5 build off) A central location would be nice. You could start a thread asking everyone that started a community build and go from there.
  11. Thanks again for the compliments. I have to say now looking at my pics that the black is not orange peeled. I have to figure out Future. It bubbled like crazy and I do not know why. She wears a true triple black that only had one fault until I brushed on Future. I like the shine but it ruined texture.
  12. I do agree on the community builds. There are great builds in several locations and to make a group is great. I admit I flat out forgot about one and had to get a white board to remind myself. It's easy for say like the 4x4 thread to get lost when it's started and a few get done and then there is a few months before the next group of guys are done. I'm glad you brought this up Highway I gotta go say sorry to the Import Drag guys
  13. I have checked out some other forums and have found in my opinion that this is the best and easiest to use. I have registered with some others before my comp crashed and I'll go back and find them again. However I almost live here. All the new tips and advise and eye candy I need is here. My other one I talk on is more local so I can talk to club members not on here. Now my question though is since planes were mentioned I'd like to know of good plane forums and model trains. I know it's not the car scene but I have a few older fighters begging for attention and my poor trains are collecting dust. Also I once found one that had a good Hot Wheels forum and I lost that with my old comp. Some help there and all the above would be nice.
  14. I know the reasons and all but forget face palm "head desk"
  15. This is cool old school drawing. I have a lot of old ones like this from when I was younger. I never used tools either. I could never get the handle of a compass I do it with short strokes. I like that Skyline truck and the Iroc-z the most however I give you props on the angle you have on Suzuki. That is a very hard angle to obtain! The Jag looks great!.. And the CRX... I am impressed most though with that Suzuki front angle. I can't capture that no matter how hard I try. I'll have to dig out my old stuff see if you like it. Most of mine is concept though
  16. Did Dan just say "Yo"?
  17. Hey can't blame a guy for trying I love it Harry you bring good things to the forum and not only is this going to be a fun game but it will teach us and show us cars that a lot of us had no clue was around. I'm looking forward to it more for a learning experience
  18. I like the idea. My only thing is I know your busy but could you do both each week? They are both fun ideas but I don't want to loose rom either. I know it alternates but but but..
  19. Nice idea I see for the instructions Nick. The binder looks like a great way to protect them. I as well never get rid of mine.
  20. Not only the huge mass of these cars was something of pure amazement but the smooth ride as well. One of my friends parents had one of these growing up and I rode in it a couple times and I think I'd fall asleep behind the wheel of a stock one
  21. This is coming from someone that loves Dare to be Different kind of rides and wild as well and this thing is flat out AWESOME! Great detail and great work! Neat to capture the aftermarket detail in the engine bay too!
  22. I was curious about this one too cause one of my LHS' has a couple of these and was wondering how the fade would look. Great job! This is a re-release based on the old Warren Johnson car I think?? I want to get one of these since I still have the Warren body with decal I build along time ago. This looks really sharp and it's cool to see someone do a box stock paint on this.
  23. Thanks guys! As far as the vents go I decided to use ink on them. I use it for the grill and hubcaps or wheels for most of my kits so I thought it might work and wow. I painted the silver first then did black ink. Then simply wipe off with a damp rag ( I use blue shop towels). It only costs a buck too.
  24. Great pics and thanks for sharing!
