Tha South Has Risen frum tha Ashes Yall......
Jello replied to a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks for the comments! I know its a senstive subject these days but I don't go shy when something needs to be said about it. All that PC ###### is for wimps and if folks can't stand the heat, then they best just shutup huh? I have black friends and I treat them just like my other friends whatever color they may be and many of them understand whats going on out 'there' and don't agree with it. I judge a person by their actions, not by the color of their skin, education, money, skills or whatever. I can't for the life of me understand why certain groups of people feel the need to open old wounds, say stuff that upsets others and they do know what they are doing too. Just think how much better off everybody would be if we could get together and solve problems in the schools, communitys, states? But from the looks of things, thats never going to happen and someday, something will have to give.. When Obama's preacher started running his mouth, it was back to square one for those folks and I for one, is ###### sure not going to vote for him cause of that no matter what Obama said & done about it afterwards. The fact that language like that is still being used today tells me a lot about the state of things in this country. Theres lots of good people out there no matter the color or where they are from...the Mex farm workers ( theres thousands in my area) do work hard and I admire & respect that and sure theres a few bad apples just like in all other kinds of folks but they don't sit on their butts complaining and hoping to get something free cause they are too lazy to work hard for something. Some of these certain folks and some white folks too! could learn quite a few good lessons from the Mex farm workers! 'Enuff said. ~ Jeff -

Welcome aboard! We have a great bunch of guys in here to help out anytime and do feel free to ask questions! Theres no such thing as a silly question cause we have been there & done it. I have been building models for over 42 years and I still learn something new almost everyday! Don't get discouraged & frustrated..it takes practice & patience and you will make mistakes as we all do. Hope you will enjoy the hobby and remember, its just model cars and you are suppose to have fun! ~ Jeff -

I do love watching the LeMans race..got started watching that many years ago after seeing that old Steve McQueen movie! The Corvettes are fun to watch too. The Grand Prix is too fast for me to keep up and the cars are butt ugly! Tho, that Lewis Hamilton guy did a nice bang up job today! I use to love sports car racing when Greenwood was racing the Vettes and it got boring when the Poor-shees won everything.. Napscar has lost its luster when they started allowing the circu$ in to play! Nothing been right since ol' #3 has been gone. June Bug still don't have it yet and that 'kid' Kyle Busch is doing circles around him all day. I been collecting M&M stuff for years and wish Busch was driving something other than a toyota! Thanks to all the pills I take, I get dizzy all the time! ~ Jeff -
Sounds like a COOL idea! I got a couple of those kits myself. One question here, are you trying to go for a caricature look or a more serious look? Two rear slicks & one front bike tire? Keep us in the know! ~ Jeff

The rest of the world thinks us Rednecks, Crackers and whatever else they call us are bad people and I even hear they teach that in dem 'scools these days too. Course we know what goes on in dem public 'scools today with dem teachers rewriting the civil war which explains why dem kids hate us so much. My folks ( we are railroad people) moved to south fla in the early '20s ( from GA) and moved to north fla later and back then, there lots of dem wooden cracker houses and even my G'ma owned one when I was a kid. Back then that was good living and everybody helped each other and was always polite even to strangers from out of town and we always had food on the table but not always had money..nobody went hungry fo sho! Life was hard no doubt but there was always plenty of work to do. We took care of our people and even policed them..those that stepped out line got themselves a good whopping and if that didn't work, you never saw them again! Theres still plenty of us around today and we are doing well and we still care about others, always have food on the tables even for strangers. Always plenty of fresh biscuits, homemade jam, bacon, grits, fry chicken & taters with peach & blueberry pies! We can't no longer watch over all the people and theres always those 'fake' rednecks making things harder and spoiling it all for everybody by waving rebel & nazi flags acting like they are real southern people which they are not..folks like are dime a dozen and easy to spot & smell miles away! For some odd reason, certain groups of people think we owned slaves and that we shall be punished for it...truth be told, no southern people actually 'owned' slaves..it was less than 7% of the poeple living in the south that 'owned' slaves and that 7% was foreigners as in nonsoutherns! That how the slave trade started in the first place. No decent Irish/Southern people would even think to "own" a person and we did our own farm work..history shows that if some of y'all could be bother to take the time to read all about it..forget the internet, its full of BS! Even those Southerns who were not Irish didn't have slaves either. And yet, 'certain groups' blame us....I don't have the best education in the world but I can read & write and I do know my history as well. I spend all my life working hard for what I have now and nobody is going to take that away from me or the other Southern people. I don't like it one bit when people try to change history to justify their action$ and no thanks to old dishonest Abe for throwing in the first lie about Southern people cause nothing has been the same since. I'll cut this story short for now. There, now I said my piece! ~ Jeff -
What and when was your very first model?
Jello replied to Uncle Mike's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
We never forget out first one huh? The first kit I ever had was a MPC Military Jeep with a trailer around 1966 or so...later this kit became the AMT Hogan's Hero kit missing lots of parts from the original kit. Unless there was more than 1 Jeep kit. Even remember my 2nd kit cause it was a whopper for a 6-7 year old kid, AMT Pete long nose semi truck..so many darn pieces and I just put it together without even painting it! I doubt it looked very good at the time! I still remember the box art showing a brown color truck. My dad got it at the Army PX store. Next kit was the Revell '54 Chevy panel, one of the many I put together cause I really enjoyed that kit very much and still do. ~ Jeff -

Jello replied to a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hopefully he is on a roll now and can keep it up! Too bad I can't watch the races now cause its not on Fox anymore...I sure hate it when they do stupid things like changing the networks right in the middle of the season! Money rules eh? ~ Jeff -
No doubt Lindberg will lose money on the Gremlin kit and I also believe there was plans to release that Vega kit too? but what worries me is this, if Lindberg loses money on kits that will not sell, are they going to assume business is bad and not sell any kits at all?....seems silly to try to sell kits that anyone can tell you if they will sell or not and then blame the lack of sales of that bad kit on a bad market for model kits today. I hope not as I don't plan to buy the Gremlin or the Vega for that matter but the other Lindberg kits such as the '64 S/S cars, Ford truck, '61 Chevy, Dodge A-100 and L-700 truck I have got several of each one. I wish Lindberg would tool up some new kits rather than waste money on kits that will not sell and of course, the way things are today, I can understand not tooling up any new kits. ~ Jeff

I'am with you on that but in todays "PC" world & cheap sleazy lawyers good at finding 'holes' in laws, the use of deadly force language needs to be more clear and thats why Ga & Fla updated the laws. I recall a situation in Fla years ago when the homeowner woke up after his wife heard someone in the living room and the gentleman fired at the 'shadow' ( crook) in the living room and killed him. Sounds like a open & shut case right?... it was no such thing as he was charged with killing the guy whos backpack was filled with stolen stuff and after a year of BS & sweating it, the charges were dropped but his family filed a civil lawsuit and won 100,000 bucks and the original suit was for 2 million.....The homeowner later died & his death was caused by all the stress & ###### he got for protecting his home.....which he later losted in court.....Sadly, Stuff like this happens all the time in American. ~ Jeff -
She is looking great! Nice work so far and that body style always makes a good gasser. Keep up the good work. ~ Jeff

I was not planning on buying the Challenger kit but after reading the comments and seeing the pics, I will grab one and check it out more! Thanks guys! ~ Jeff

Great job! Looks fantastic and you did good! I got a couple of the kits myself and the Mustangs too..heck, I keep buying all those kits! Hope mine turns out as good as yours. ~ Jeff

Jealous as hell of all you out there

Rule #1, find a GF or wife that knows you need the time away from ...ummm "doing your job" and your model building is a very important part of your life and you need to smell the paint fumes every once in awhile! Also, support her hobby really helps you more than you will know! Rule #2, see rule #1 and everything will work out just fine! ...Hmmmmm, come to think of it, that explains why I'am divorced and never been on a date since... ~ Jeff -

I was born in GA but spend 45 years living in Fla til I moved back to GA 5 years ago and good to know Fla. fixed that law too! My Father is a retired Police Chief & living in north Fla. The use of deadly force language was never too clear in courts and nice to know its a lot more clear now. GA passing that law is updated from the old law that you can use deadly force to protect your family, home and self anywhere in GA as long as its a justifiable situation and guarantees you will not be charged with anything while using deadly force to protect yourself & all. Its clear enough for me now! In most states, protecting your family, home, vehicle ( carjacking) and self might land you in jail if the language is not clear and also allows the crooks or their families to suit you for millions just for killing the little roach while he/she is robbing you. I agree, a .45 does indeed do a better job and its the weapon I prefer the most. As for the young ladies carrying their weapons in purses or ..in some other area on them, anybody that does not teach their daughters & ladies about the use of weapons must not care much for them and I'am all for civilians carrying weapons for protection and it does work cause when the crooks know decent folks are armed, the crime rate does go down. Thanks for the Fla update! ~ Jeff -

Amen Zeb! Thank you for the wonderful history lesson. Unfortunately, far too many people jump on this issue without thinking and try to change history to fit their idea of what it all means. Here in GA, we have the same gun laws too but it goes one step ahead than Fla, in GA you have the right to protect yourself in public places and if you think your life is in danger, you have the right to shoot. That law was passed last year. Try doing that in some other state besides Texas & a few others and see happens to your butt! So, ya'll come on down & visit us sumtime folks and enjoy the grits! We really are nice peoples..really.. ~ Jeff -
I seen on the news the other night about how GM vehicles like the new Impala are selling like ice cream on a hot July day in China and the Chinese folks don't understand why us Americans don't buy enough Impalas....They think we actually build the best cars in the world!?!! Did I miss something here?.... I couldn't believe it myself til I saw a news clip showing a Chinese guy going nuts over a new Impala in the showroom that looks like any American new car showroom except its in China...oh yeah, he bought the car & seemed very happy with his purchase. Everywhere else in the world, lots of people are buying American 'made' vehicles and sales are great for GM & Ford except in American...? It wouldn't surprise me if China buys GM....and do remember, we help them with a lot of this new technology and they are killing us ever so slowly... The problem with Nov coming up is that its the same old story, we will elect another turkey to drive us all out of business cause American people have gotten lazy & toooo comfortable with the lifestyle of DVDs, computers, SUVs, fast food, new phone technology, video games, overpriced new houses, endless credit cards...so why rock the boat? Soon they will find out why they should have rocked the boat and paid very dear for not doing anything about it. ~ Jeff
-
Its no surprise there at all..what is a surprise is that its still producing full size trucks & SUVs! Ford & Chrysler too. I expect things to get a whole lot worse over the summer and lookout for more announcements coming! I expect some real summer & fall sales deals with full size truck prices slashed by half or more. Chrysler will get hit the hardest for obvious reasons. Toyota even cancelled building a full size truck plant in Mo. last month. Hmmm...not good if Toyota is feeling the blues either eh? Good thing I drive a '05 Ranger! Even if it 'only' gets 20 mpg with the AC on. Thats a lot better than the full size Ford truck I had 2 years ago and it only got 13 mpg ( 10 mpg with AC) but it sure was one fast pick'em up ! I see on the news a lot lately about folks riding horses to work....Looks a lot like things are coming back to a full circle. Anybody got a low miles Donkey with 18" rims & a rollbar for sale hmm? A saddle is a must tho! We having fun yet? ~ Jeff

That "E" was ditched long time ago....when the magazine was sold to a company that prints magazines and knows nothing about model cars..its been all downhill since. ~ Jeff -
Well, you guys know how it is these days...The Indy car series has been quite boring over the last few years and now they throw in a few gals to stir it up which so far, seems to be working and theres always a few guys that don't think girls belong in the sport of car racing and getting beaten by a girl is a wee bit too much for some to handle! Theres always going to be a few 'jerks' to test them and see how far they can push them. Just look at the history of women trying to race in Nascar to see where this goes. A lot of hard lessons were learned. Danica has just as much right to be there as anybody else does and as far as I'am concern, she is a better driver than most of the guys and once she gets her head out of the clouds and gets down to the nitty gritty of racing, she will do just fine. For now tho, Indy car racing needs the exposure and $$$ Danica & others brings to the sport to stay alive. It takes guts to be talking to your crew chief while driving 220 mph and telling him the car wouldn't go faster! That radio would be the last thing I would thought to mess with while driving that fast! ~ Jeff
-
Thats the way I like my ladies! I sure was hoping she would grab him and beat the *$@!~^%! out of that guy in front of the whole country! Yup, that security guy was a brave man! ~ Jeff
