Inspired by a thread not too long ago describing what a gasser is I decided to do the following
Take an unbuilt AMT 63 Corvette stingray I had
And take a built up rat packer I did a while ago
I've got some trimming to do on the back of the chassis you can see the pencil line I have drawn already, and I have to cut the interior tub down, but it will fit
And hopefully it will all come together
made a little progress..........................I started cutting up the frame and interior tub. This actually went better than I thought. I was a bit worried at first because everything was already put together so I had to be very careful holding everything as I made my cuts. Also this is the most I've ever done as far as modifications. I know this is child's play for you guys, but being my first attempt I was very cautious. I used a fine tooth hacksaw to make the first cut across the back, then rounded the corners so they would fit into the rear of the vette. Had to cut off the rear window shelf and lower the tub sides by about 1/4" so it would tuck inside the new body. The dashboard had to be lowered, and the roll cage re-worked.
And as of tonight it looks like this, I still have a lot more I want to do with this including getting the rear end to tuck more into the body but the decals got me excited enough to post it up
A Big Thank you goes to diymirage for making the Rick's Speed Shop decals for me. Check out his thread over here http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=40009
He got them done quick and they were packaged very well. I will be ordering more from him for sure.
I'll need a high res image of that Monster drink hood, for, errrrrr, um,,,,,,,research purposes, yeah that's it research.
Seriously, that is some fine work on all 4 cars
WOW, I have the original AMT 67 Camaro Pace car kit. I hope mine comes out as nice when I finally build it. This by far my favorite of all the Indy pace cars.
