  1. Yeah the box "artist" simply airbrushed over a photo and didn't even bother to change the background. I miss the days when the model companies hire real artists to create original artwork for the boxes. The reason the box art car's wheels look different is because this was copied from a picture of a Callaway modified Impala, that used similar, but wider wheels. The kit has a stock 1994 Impala SS in it rather than the Modified 96 Impala pictured.
  2. Holy carp! the sky is falling again? seems to happen about every ten years.
  3. I agree, take as much time as you need to, as long as it comes out right. I've got plenty on may banch and not enough$$$$$ for all the kits I want to buy.
  4. I don't care if you call it a "gasser' or not. I want to build it!
  5. My only gripe is i want these now!...lol. Seriously though as much as I want you to make these as accurate as possible, I appreciate any new plastic you give me to glue. Even if the kit came out horrible, I could turn it into a radical custom, and that would be ok too. But I've been pretty happy with everything you guys have done so far, so I'll assume you guys will do ok again. Sure a Big block would be cool in the Nova, but hey I've got plenty of those I can drop in. My only request, since you are doing a small block, is a while back Revell tooled up a really nice set of BB Chevy Moroso valve covers. I don't even know if they are period for that car, but a set of SB chevy moroso valve covers would sell a few more of these kits to me.other than that carry on. keep up the good work.
  6. Sorry, I thought you going all caps, and calling us "inconsiderate beings" meant you were upset. I apologize for taking that incorrectly. I'll also try not to misunderstand you calling us narrowminded, and the fact that you are "highly irritated" as you being upset. I will just assume all is well. I bid you good day.
  7. And all that stuff gets loaded onto your truck with pallet jacks and forklifts, and I have no interest in building models of those either. If you are feeling under-appreciated in your job or somehow unfulfilled in your chosen vocation, it's not up to us to make you feel better about it. It's great you enjoy building Model trucks and there is a whole section on this forum dedicated to your interests. Getting upset because the people in the "model cars" section of the "Model Cars Magazine" prefer to build model cars is frankly ridiculous, and you are being way too sensitive about it.
  8. I like the Truck a lot, But I really love the Novas. I'll need a few of those.
  9. The washer and Dryer two kit set will only be available through select retailers.
  10. Why couldn't they have done that in 1/25 scale? And who wants kits on new washing machines? I wish they would do a 1977 Maytag top loader! If we get a second kit they'll make something i want. Does anybody sell Avocado green in hobby sized paints? Perhaps next they will do a refrigerator, that would be cool!
  11. This is why I posted this this early to help me catch some design issues early on.
  12. I think you are right. I used this measurement so I could use the original front seat but I think I'm going to adapt a different seat and lengthen the doors.
  13. I tried that but decided to go with the same roof height as the original Ala Kart. to keep the proportions the same.
  14. This is project I've been wanting to do for a while. The Idea is to do a variation of the Barris Ala Kart, as a woody. The plan is to use only period parts but perhaps change up the engine and suspension to make it as I would have done it back in the day. What do you guys think? I figured I'd get an extra set of eyes on it. Do you like the proportions and the design? any suggestions?
  15. even if you can get away with copying over somone elses professional photograph through some loophole, I still think it's dirty pool. I often work from photos as I can't always have the car in my driveway to look at, But I either work from my own photos or photos I've had taken for me when I can't make it to where the subject is. Maybe it's an artist thing.
  16. Well that, and it is a 96 that is illustrated. If they were going to airbrush the photo they could have at least illustrated the correct side mirrors for the kit.
  17. I knew the box art for Revell's '94 Impala looked familiar. It is an airbrushed tracing of David Freers photo from an article on the Callaway Impala SS in the May 1996 issue of Motor Trend. As an artist this leads to some questions. 1. Did Revell know this is not an original work? 2. If the were aware of the Photo and had rights to use it, why not simply use the photo rather than an airbrushed copy of it? 3. If an illustration was what they wanted, why not hire someone to do an original work? After all these cars aren't exactly rare, the artist could have photographed one himself to trace. Anyone know the back story here?
  18. I think it is interesting that everyone is assuming the 1969 Boss 302 is a modified reissue of the Mach 1. Given the changes to the body, and the new engine tooling, I think it is likely this could be an all new tool. This would allow them to update to a better chassis design as well rather than the really simplified 1982 vintage chassis tooling in the other mustangs.
  19. The killer bunny is in primer now. There are still some more bodywork to finish up, but all the major stuff is done.... I was able to retain the opriginal hood hinges and they operate the same way they did in the original Rabbit kit.
  20. The original Revell Porsche 928 engine bay was plain and not terribly realistic. The only element of the original engine bay that remains hear are the basic inner fender structure. It was very basic, but was a great basis to build onto... The 928 chassis actually looks pretty good, and should really look great once I paint and detail it. There are several ejection pin marks that need to cleaned up but other than that it shouldn't need much work. I'm trying as best as I can to duplicate all the detail of the real car, some of it likely won'y be visible when I'm done but what is should help the realisim.
  21. I never had good luck with them. I'd contacted them several years ago about a purchase, what responses I got were rude and unhelpful. I spent my money elsewhere.
  22. I've made more progress on the Build this weekend. With the help of Revell, I was able to do the hood. The only part of this build that required sacrificing more than three parts was the hood. I wrote Revell, and told them what I was up to and asked if they could spare a hood, and they got one out to me. It had to be lengthened as well as widened. I offset the seam in the front for added strength. I also managed to widen the front bumper. The under hood bracing was added to both stregthen the hood, as well as replicate the original hood's under-detail. In enlarging the hood I was able to save the original hood hinges and retainers, so the hood will hinge like the standard kit. The hood has the correct number and spacing of vents, just like the Original 1:1 car. I'm still working on the engine bay and interior. I should have updates on those later in the week.
  23. Sorry it took a while to do this update this but I was measuring for the hood and grille, and found that I had made the passenger front fender 1mm too long, so I had to take it apart and re section it then reassemble it. I did however get the grille widened and it fits perfectly.
  24. I have the front valance widened and installed.. Next up is the grille and bumper. I thought the grille would be toughest, but the hood is going to be a huge challenge I figured out to get every thing proportional I'll need at least 4 hoods to cut up. The tightest cut will be the hood vent area.
  25. More progress on the Killer Bunny. I have the front bodywork roughed in. There will be a lot of filling of gaps and sanding of cut lines but the basics are all here. I made a patch panel for the gap in the rear fenders. It's really starting to come together... I also widened the head liner to make the finished model look like it came this way. I know this is just the beginning, I need to make widened bumpers, front air dam and valence. Widening the grill will be a huge challenge.
