  1. Joe... Those bead locks look killer.you are doing a heck of a job on this. Looking forward to seeing what you are gonna do for the front rims. I do have to ask on the 3D rendering you showed for a future build of yours... Is that a pro stock camaro body by chance? If so hopefully they will be available in 1/16th scale too.... Lol I have always thought it would be cool to build a pro stock in 16th scale.
  2. Scott.... i love your work man. This is some mighty fine work and looking killer. Keep up the great work.
  3. Art... Thanks brother for letting me know what color that was. That has to be one of the best looking tan colors for an interior. I know what you mean when you are looking for that certain right look and you nailed it buddy!! I am going to have to use this color sometime in one of my builds. did you mix it 1:1?? I can not wait to see what you are going to be working on next. Don't keep us waiting too long...lol I also meant to tell you that I can't wait to see this one in person. The pics of it at the NNL's that John took looks killer.
  4. John... thank you for sharing that video of the car. That was awesome to see it. Very Cool car for sure.
  5. I was just at hobby depot today and they wanted 74.00 for this kit...lol
  6. Niko....Thank you for the kind comments and for following on on this buil. I am really glad you enjoy following along. Hey what's one more project to start.... . You don't know how bad I want to start a few other builds but I am trying to keep myself focusing on this one because It needs to be done by end of summer... Well sometime this I won't promise any dates...lol Scott.... Thank you my friend. I am trying to knock it out hahah Steve.. Thank you. I can't tell you anxious I am to see this done. I have a vision in my head and I can only hope it turns out as good as the vision I have had for this one. Amo.... Thank you very much. Johnny boy.... Thank you my big brother. I just got done working on a project for work. Now it's time to eat and then once Inam done eating I will get to the bench . You weren't rude at all. I know you were focusing on what you were working on. Ithe kind words mean a lot coming from you. Thanks Brother!
  7. James.... Thank you for checking in on this build and bringing this post back from the dead so to speak....lol I actually pulled it out last night to set on my work bench in hopes to do a little work on it this weekend. I have mostly been focusing my bench time lately on my 1/16th scale Army Vega Funny Car but I have been wanting to do some more work on this one and think I may just set some time aside later today to tinker on this one. Danno.... Thanks for the page buddy. This is another one is going to get some dust knocked off it. I need to finish this bad boy don't I...
  8. Johnny boy..... Now this is what I am talking about. I have been waiting for you to start this build. This is going to be another Bad A$$ replica that you will do with your talents Brother!! I can't wait to see it come to life.
  9. Next I went on to drilling the rivet holes in the windshield: Then I took some tamiya tape to mark off some of the body that needs to be removed to line the blower clearance hole up with the windshield: Here it is: And now with the windshield in: As always I had to test fit it on the chassis with the engine in place:
  10. So I worked pretty much all evening on more of the tin work and fell I made some good progress. might not look like much but I am chipping away at it. here are some pics..... I started the evening by removing the extra material inside of the dog house: Then I started sanding the dash flat from some of the filler pieces that were glued in. I still have to add another piece of plastic to the dash to create a shape in it like the real one: Then it was time to cut the windshield. I set it in place and scribed a line to follow to cut the extra that needed to be removed: Here it is after removing some of the glass material:
  11. Jonathan.... Thank you John... No worries, Thank you for the kind words on this build. As for piano hinges pretty much all that I have used will go 0 to 270 degrees. Steve.... Thank you sir. when are we gonna see you start building another 1/16th scale build?? Joe... Thank you very much my friend. they are gonna be a you know what when it comes time to cut them down and glue them in...lol John.... Thanks my big brother. gotta make you proud of me...lol they will be counting for a little while...haha I should of gotten stock in Scale Hardware...lol JIm... you know the sad thing is when I get the body tin work done. I know I will count them to know how many are on it... Danno.... how did you know that's where I went.
  12. Dave.... Thank you very much. I will be adding rivets around the dog house around the windshield. just haven't gotten to it yet. Here is a couple of pics I am using as reference. It looks like there isn't much on the interior portion of the dog house though. Its really hard to see any rivets in the 2nd pic I posted. Let me know your thoughts. But I still have some work to clean my Tin work up and have to trim part of the dash out of the area that the blower sits in. Steve.... Thank you Sir. I believe off the top of my head that I was using the .7mm rivets from Scale hardware. I do also have some .8mm rivets too. I can verify for you if you would like. THey come in brass and nickel silver. I used a .016 drill bit to drill out the rivets as well. some felt tight and I would try to open them up just a bit more. It was more of practice for me when pushing them in and I still need to go back and trim my rivets down on the front window and rear window panel. Johh..... Here are the reference pictures that I have used for the escape hatch and piano hinge, I have also included a link to a youtube video that is about 3 mins long that prudhomme talks about the car., Its a very cool video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Jt2y6pacQE
  13. Dave... thank you Scott... thank you very much Brad.... thanks buddy. You know I am itching to get back on the engine. I had a couple more things I wanted to get checked off the list before i get back to the engine. You are right I need to stop stalling in this tin work . i will try to get to it this week.
  14. Danno... Thank you buddy!! Tyrone... Thank you my friend. You know me on this build, I am trying to hit every little detail that I can...lol
  15. Mark... Outstanding work. This is just gorgeous.
  16. Joe... you are a natural. Man do those rims look good. I can't wait to see what you turn next. Job well done my friend.
  17. So I was able to get a little more done to the interior tin. I ended up adding some material to the tin work to blend it into the body with a smoother transition. It will still need some final sanding and bond but here is what it looks like: I started out with some hex rod that was bent to shape to fit the body: Did the same on the other side: View from above: here is a side view with the tin into the body. It will look much better once I get some bondo on those pieces:
  18. Here is an early morning update of what I finished last night. I still have more work to do but its getting closer to having this done. Here are a few more pics to share with you. Here is the dog house glued to the dash: Here is a front view of the dog house, I still need to sand and trim the dash back to the inside of the dog house to make it flush on the inside: Here is a back view. I think I may be adding a small rod (.020" or so) to use as a filler piece. and then I will be adding another filler piece that will go from the dash to the body to make a smooth transition there Another view:
  19. Bob... Thank you very much. I enjoy showing my builds as a step by step process. if some one can use something that I have done I think that's great. I have learned many things from all of the builders here Larry... Thank you. Jason... Thank you so much. Its getting there....lol Danno.... Thank you but not quite there yet. There are still a few more details to add to it and to work on the the dash
  20. Very nice build. This looks great. I would love to pick up one of these kits some day
  21. That Z-28 looks sweet
  22. Here is the part next to the make shift template I made up: Here is the underside of the Dog House: And as always I had to test fit it in place, Its not glued in yet but making the final fitments before I decided to pull the trigger and glue it permanently: Opposite side: Well I am heading back to the bench. Hopefully I will have another update with pics for you later this evening.
  23. Johnny .... Thanks my Big Brother!! I appreciate it!! Ok so here are some pics to show my progress so far for the day. I am not done at the bench just yet for the day. Will be working pretty much the rest of the night on it hopefully. But after I post these pics its time to cook some dinner. So I have started off by working more on my template piece trying to figure the right size for everything: Test fitting it with the windshield in place: So after I got my template made I decided to take some measurements of it and draw it up in Solidworks and print part of the drawing 1:1 that I could make my parts from it: Here are my main pieces to make the assembly. I had to glue 2 3 different sizes together because I didn't have the right size: More pics following....
  24. Danno.... Thank you very much my friend. Brad.... You are right that it has been tricky. for such a small part one would not think it would take this long...lol I almost have it done though. I am at the stage of fitting it and sand a little more fit sand fit sand....lol Pain in the butt.. Dave.... Yeah that can be tricky as well to get the windshield off too. I pull the rivets out one by one. I will start by pushing them from behind (from the inside) typically will try to get all of them from the inside first and then I go back and slowly pull them out. I have learned a few trick since I did the back windshield the same way. Shaun.... Thank you sir for the kind comments. Mark... Thank you very much. I know I have been spending a lot of time on this tin work for the body. but I think in the end it will all pay off...Hopefully...lol Guys stay tuned I am downloading pics right now and will have some up in a few mins for an afternoon update to show where I am at with this.
