  1. John... Holy Crapola.... I just wet my self . That engine is looking Killer Brother. Dang it sure came to life with some Alclad and a little weathering. I love it
  2. Scott... I dug a couple of the parts out to show you for the studs. Now these are from Tuner Model Factory. The Dia. of the stud is .7mm = .0275" which is equivalent to .6875" (11/16") in 1:1. I think 1:1 sizes are around 1/2-20 threads. these would be a smidge big but I think will work perfect you could set it up where they are made to size and just glue them in the wheel with the amount of thread sticking out or you could make them functional to take on and off or maybe just functional and never take off...lol. I have to give you props for detailing the heck out of a 1/25th scale car. I know what I have been doing is tuff at times in 1/16th and know its even tougher in a smaller scale. Here are the pics:
  3. Now that is going to be cool. Crazy amount of time and engineering have gone into that machine. Thank you for sharing
  4. Scott.... beautiful work. I love the attention to detail. As far as the studs go in this and I just have to give my honest opinion. I think you should add them and reason being youbhave put sobmuch work into this and its just a little more to make it pop even more. I will have to get some pics of a stuss and bolt I have thaybmay work perfect for the studs for your car. Now nothing says you have to make them removable bit i think having an individual stud and nut would look killer. The parta I am thinking of are from tuner 2B or something like that. I am using these parts ony steering gearbox mounts on my funny car but will get some pics of the parts for you. Keep up the great work. Seeing your progress motivates me to get more done on my funny car.
  5. John... thanks Brother. I am happy with it so far. Now I need to get the bottom to look just as good as the top...lol but I still have some blemishes that need to be fixed on the top side. I am also sure I am gonna hate cutting all of the rivet down to size and sanding the edges from the cuts...lol bit to be hinest I cant wait until I get some black paint on this tin work. James... thank you for the kind words. I am hoping that it turns out as well as I have visioned in my head. I think once paint and the rivets are in it ahould look pretty good. Danno.... thank you. I was pretry sure I could save it but it made me mad i messed it up in the first place. actually now I think that rear portion is much stronger now. Scott.... thanks brother! Glenn.... thank you. I am very hopeful to have it done later this year. At this moment i really want to get back to the engine... lol
  6. Scott... Phenomenal work my friend. Love the progress you are doing. I admire your talents for sure. Keep up the great work!
  7. Thanks Joe... I got some black primer sprayed on next and now it is ready for some steel color for the base. I need to break out the airbrush and mix some paint up and then gonna attempt some weathering via the salt method. Hopefully I don't mess it up too bad or that it is easier than I think. I need to read up on the technique first. But getting excited about it.
  8. So I was able to get some time last night and sanded my bondo and shot a few quick coats of primer on the top and firewall. Pretty happy with it but I still have some work to do on it and I still need to work the bottom side of the tins. Here is what it looks like now..... Top side back in primer: Here is the Dash, there are a few spots that I have noticed that need to be address again but it looks much better: The top end of the tins. I need to go back and scribe a line to separate the panels out a little bit and the very top edge needs some work as some of it popped in the primer: Here is the fire wall with some primer on it. It still need some work done to the seam right down the middle still shows a little:
  9. Mike.... Thank you. Its getting there little by little...lol John... Thanks buddy for having faith in me. Mark... Thank you. I think you are right after it has some paint on it no one will be able to tell. James... Thank you very much. I am sure you are right about the cars back then having many repairs done to them. Its turning out ok so far on the fix. still needs more sanding for me to be happy with it...lol
  10. John... this is looking killer brother. I have Sidewinder on the brain my friend. Been itching for an update, hoping a monster hasnt tied you up .... lol
  11. I ended up getting a little more work done to the cart of this build. I added some bondo to it got it sanded down as well as got some primer on it and gonna sand the primer down next and add a black base before I paint it a steel color or the base Here is the bondo applied: Here it is with primer on it:
  12. So I did some work yesterday on this and happy with the little progress I made. Hoping to get to work on it more today. If I am lucky I will be shooting some more primer on it today. So I started out by removing the tin from the body and coating the top of the joint on the tins with super glue on the top side: Next I sanded down the glue going on the bottom so I would have a flat surface to glue to: I then added the stiffening plates on the bottom of the tins at the joint: You can really tell from this picture but I added more bondo to the top area to clean it up: Added some more bondo to the dash area: And then added some to the firewall:
  13. Lee... Thank you for the kind comments and I am LMAO about taking a small insurance policy on this once its done... May be worth it Dave... Thank you. No need to be sad when this build comes to an end one day. I can't wait to have it done because I have many more cool builds I want to start. I think the next two or three builds I have in mind you will like. I know I am super stoked for sure on one of them. and yes these ones are all 1/16th builds Danno.... You know I have been dreaming of the day when this bad boy is done.... I am curious how it will turn out
  14. Brad... I have tear drop trailer on the brain... Any new updates on this diorama?
  15. John.... you are a true artist my brother.... awesome work and proud of you. This is an amazing build. that detail to the injector hat and valve covers.....WOW!! Looking forward to more on this one.
  16. Dave... thank you my friend. I wasnt gonna let this little bump in the road get in the way. I was just really hard on myself when i broke it and was mad at myself. I know it will feel good when its all fixed. I am gonna try to get the fix done this afternoon once I get home from work.
  17. Bob... Thank you. It's on it's way and hopefully it will be done soon. Mike... Thank you for the kind words and support Brother. I have to give God the credit and glory on the talent although I know there's are so man better builders than me.
  18. Wow.... This is an impressive build. I am digging this one. The engine is just awesome among everything else. Nice work.
  19. Rom... thanks man. I appreciate it. I never thought this build would have this many pages. I am pretty sure there is a side bet on how many pages there will be when this build is done...lol
  20. Well fellas.... I wanted to let you know that I got back to the bench on this build tonight for a little bit and went straight at it with fixing the tins. I just needed a day or two away and missed this build too much...lol I have started on the fix and although its not 100% fixed yet but its on its way. I did get the tins glued back together but I have decided to leave it in the body over night before trying to pull it out and put glue on the other side. Although it probably won't go anywhere since I decided to fix it with super glue...lol Here are a couple of pics to share.... Here I have placed the 2 pieces of the tins in the body to see how I will do things: Next you can sorta see some of the super glue that I used on the top portion of the tins. I put some super glue on the edges that were butting up to one another and then I went back and went along the seam with super glue then hit it with a little kicker to make sure it had a good bond. Then I decided to put another little small layer of super glue on it again after I had both sides done...lol: While gluing the pieces back together, I really wanted to add a stiffener in the mix just to make sure it doesn't break on me again. So what you see is an idea that I am going to take a piece of plastic that is .010" thick x .188 Wide I am going to use as a stiffener. I will bend the piece to fit the contour of the tins and I will superglue in place. Then I will go back and then drill the holes back in for the rivets. It should be much stronger when done:
  21. Brad... Thank you for your support. You are right that it is not much to fix it. It will be like new soon. Hopefully even better and stronger. John.... oh man I could only imagine how you felt when that happened. Lee... Thank you so much for the kind words. I really enjoy showing everyone this build step by step progress and glad it can be encouraging even when Things like this happen. I want to show that I am no where near perfect when it comes to building and how some things I need to redo because it didn't turn out the way I wanted or the fact that I broke something and had to fix it...lol Thank you for following along. Danno... Thank you. Art.... Thank you my friend. What can I say but you are right that this is part of modeling with hitting snags at times and an ordinary day at the bench. I know when we go thru things like this it tends to help us become better modelers by learning from mistakes that we have made along the way. Usually building models is really relaxing for me an this mistake of me breaking the tins got me down for a day or so but I am back at the bench ready to get back on this bad boy.
  22. Bill... Man those are some nice calipers. I can tell you got some time in those bad boys. I sure admire your work its always clean and looks great. Keep up the awesome work.
  23. Joe... i am glad I got the panel lines scribbed... I will end up doing some sort of wash in it. The decals are looking great on the stuka.
  24. Hey Everyone.... I just wanted to say thank you all for your support. I was pretty upset with myself yesterday with what happened to the Tins and took a break from the build yesterday. I know it wasnt the end of the world but it can be fixed. Today is a new day and last night I looked at the broken parts and came up with a solution to fix it. I won't let this little hiccup get me and I will over come it. I let myself become discouraged because i have so many hours in this tin work and felt I was really close to being done with it and honestly i am so tired of working on it and ready to have it finished and painted.but I know I will have to put some extra time into it now. Hopefully I will get some time tonight but i have some house chores that I need to do once i get off work.
  25. Well guys after a few days away from this build I figured it was time to get back to it and do some more work on the tins. I was starting to stand the primer and going to add some more bondo to make this tin work look better...... Well I had a major hiccup and at the moment I am pretty pissed-off at myself and feel like boxing this up or at least putting the tin work aside and working on something else. After sanding the tin work before I was going to add some bondo to it, I decided to rinse the tins off with water to clean all of the sanding dust off it and well some how and I haven't a clue how I did it but I snapped it in to two. No idea how I broke it but I did and very disappointed at myself at the moment. I know its not that bad but after all of the hours I have put into this part and am really mad at myself. Anyway here is the damage......
