  1. Bob.... Thank you.i am much happier with it now Mike.... Thank you. Jesse... Thank you so ,inch for the suggestion. I let that one slip past me. I got the first set cut like you mention and will have the next one tone tomorrow. I will also get some primer on them tomorrow after work. Very nice build you shared. It looks great. I will have some pics to share tomorrows .
  2. Steve... Beautiful build. Love the paint and loved seeing it at modelzona. You gonna have this at the Desert Scale Classic? Nice work on this one Steve.
  3. Dave.. the plates were sized off some Casters from McMaster-Carr. the foot plate i belived I used was 4" x 6". Thanks for the pics of the casters on the missle carts. I will end up making new casters for this. Larry... thank you. You are right I will be redoing them...lol Dave... thank you... now you have me thinking that I need to use some sort of knobby tire .
  4. Danno... thanks... me too....lol Dave.... thank you. If all goes well the headers will get some primer tonight
  5. Bob... thanks on the camber fix. I wont lie.... I cheated by sanding the axle to make it smaller giving me the ability to angle the tires the way I want to. I will end up gluing the front tires with 5 min epoxy so i will set them in place when I glue them.
  6. Ed... Thank you. Dave... Thank you sir. Well I don't have much to show but I did receive the caster wheels for the body cart and wanted to show them to you. Here they are: I received the Caster wheels as well as picked up some more 3/32" square tubing to finish up the supports on this cart: Here are the casters: Holding one up to the caster mounting plate. I am thinking that the casters are a little small for this and probably think I will end up having to make my own casters for this:
  7. Well I got some time on the bench on this one tonight. I took the time to fix the Camber issue I was having with the front wheels because I couldn't take how they looked....lol And then I started working on the headers. Here is a couple of shots Here is the new front wheel camber... It looks so much better than before and am much happier now: this is just a reminder what it looked like before: Here is the start of the headers. Originally 17 years ago I build my own headers but they sorta turned out like garbage and I wasn't happy with them, I decided to just use the kits one and make them look a little better. Started out by drilling out all of header pipes: Then here is how far I got tonight, I sanded the mold lines and added the support piece on the one header. I still need to sand the mold lines off the 2nd one and add the support piece to it: So tomorrow which will actually be Monday, after work I am planning on working on this more and hopefully I will finish the headers up and get some primer on them. Then I am planning on getting all of the front end radius rods installed. Then I will move onto the next thing on the list...lol so stay tuned....
  8. Bob... I do have an update tonight for everyone. I have had some family in town and wasn't able to get to the bench until this evening. Brad... Hopefully this will wet your appetite. I have Army Vega on the brain too but I do want to finish this one before the show. Steve... Thank you. It should be done in hopefully the next 2 weeks. John... I don't want you having a nervous break down. I know I need to get a Vega fix for you too... Darryl... Thank you sir, this was a fun one to paint. It was painted 3 years ago and I believe it took me around 13 hours to paint Seth... Thank you.
  9. Johnny boy.... What awesome pics of you and Ivo. Totally cool Brother. Thanks for putting me on the list with the others. Man This build just keeps getting better. Those headers turned out fantastic. and the chassis looks like it is just about done. I love all of the little details that you have done. Killer work buddy. Looking forward to the next update.
  10. Dave.... fantastic work my friend. That header is gorgeous. Are you sure you didnt pull out the mini TIG welder out for those . Nice work buddy.
  11. John.... Fantastic update!!! I am digging the fuel tank and love the simulated gas in the tank. Every little detaip just comes to life when add more to this build. :luv: this build
  12. Brad... i will be finding a way to "to adjust" these front wheels for sure. Theybare a little eye sore in my opinion...lol It may not be the right way but it will get rid of the major positive camber in them. Thanks in the picture with the parts spread out, i wanted everone to see all the parts amd what they looked like from sitting around all those years...lol and like you on my next front engine dragster i may trying to just scrarch build the front axle...lol Lee... thank you for the kind words on the Army funny car. You are right that I will be fixing the camber issue because it is bothering me. I just want to make it look a little better. Trust me i have ruined my fair share of thinfs by trial and error which is whatbgot me to where i am now with practice. Dave... thank you my friend. Hope to have some more updates soon and hope i ger some bench time tonight. Havent really been able to get to the bench the past few days.
  13. I was thinking the same thing...lol
  14. John... gorgeous Brother... my brain got its fix but wants more now...lol.... that black is looking sweet. Nice job
  15. Joe... Thanks bud.... You know it makes me wonder if I glued them on wrong 17 years ago... I think I may have. I wonder If I cold remove and flip them. Love that pic.... seeing that makes me want to fix these to make them look right. I just went back and checked an unbuilt kit and the spindles were installed correct. I think maybe just a flaw with the kit from Revell...lol But I have a way that I think will fix the issue...lol will show it when I finish it.
  16. Bob.... I was also thinking that to just leave it and when I do my next 1/16th FED I will make sure to fix the camber then.
  17. I use a Bare Metal Foil Scribber as well as the back of an X-Acto blade. depending on what I am scribing drives what tool i will use. Biggest thing I found with the X-Acto Blade is that I break the very tip off it and have found if I try to go to fast with the X-Acto Blade at first it tends to jump out of the groove so I tend to take my time with it. Find what works the best for you
  18. Dave... You Rock!!! Thank you my friend.
  19. Dave... you are a true craftsman... Holy Crapola on the Stainless headers.... Those are beautiful and am sure they were a pain in the butt to make....lol Love your work
  20. Mark... Awesome work on those headlights. they are out of this world. What was the physical bulb made from. Again Nice work on this one.
  21. Alright Johnny boy... I am waiting for an awesome update my Big Brother .... I know you and your mini me's have something up your sleeves....
  22. I would love to see this issue myself and may have to pick it up if I can find it.
  23. Danno.... Thanks buddy. I had to have something to show next month Bob... The spindles are the plastic kit ones and the way I have glued them in and did the body work on the axle, don't think there is an easy fix for it....lol I could see if I could cut the axles off and redo but sorta leary at the moment on it...haha Kevin.... Hey Buddy its great to see you on here. Hey will you PM me your email Addy I have some photo's I want to send to you that I told you about a while back, I finally got them scanned into my computer. Hope you are doing well. You should show some of your gorgeous builds here. Have you talked to Paul or George lately?? Tell them Hi the next time you see them. Dave... Thanks buddy. Yeah Its gonna feel good to get this one into the Done bucket...lol I think it will turn out ok. Just the camber on the wheels is bothering me but I don't want to tear the whole front end apart haha.
  24. Bob... Thank you very much. Bob... Thank you. Yeah there really isn't much here is my basic list of to do on it: 1. Finish Color Sanding and Polishing Body 2. Paint inner body panels black 3. Build Machined Aluminum Specialties photo-etch wire wheels for front - Done 4. Remove kits radius rods - Done 5. Redo radius rods with TDR rod ends - Done 6. Work on Kit headters 7. Glue Rear End in 8. Paint rear brakes 9. Hook up rear brake lines 10. Install Bell housing to engine 11. Install engine and drive line 12. Install gas clutch, break and gas pedal 13. Install steering shaft 14. Make a Parachute 15. Install Parachute and Chute line 16. Glue tires in place Done...lol Lee... Thank you. I do have to agree with you I have seen more of the rails with the camber outward slightly. The kit just seems like they are way too much out there you know...lol So I was hoping to some what correct it a little if I could. I think I was going to try a hair dryer on the front axle just to see if I could soften the plastic a tad and see if it would work but i am leary about doing it...lol I may be able to do what you said and take a look at the joint of the front axle. I can't remember exactly how the spindles is connected to the axle off the top of my head. Jim.... Yeah this build was something I started before I went off to college and I really didn't do much building during college like I would of liked to and then I went on a course of not building for quite some time but now I am back at and have been for the past 3 to 4 years. You are correct you did see this at the DSC on the display table. It will be finished for this next one I feel I really haven't accomplished much since I have had nothing new done for the past 3 years granted I am very proud of the funny car and how its turning out so far. can't wait to have it at the DSC finished in 2015...lol John.... Thanks brother. Its coming along and I think I should be able to build a little of this one at your speed ...hehe Thanks for giving me that extra encouragement and basically convinced me to finish it for the show next month. Without you pushing me I don't think I would of finished it cause of trying to have more progress on the funny car to show there.
  25. Jim... very cool build. I am totally digging it. Nice job
