Charlie... thank you buddy!! I was thinking I needed to do something different to display it. I Also have an idea for how I will be displaying the chassis as well. Which would allow you to see underneath the car with a mirror for that too. I have drawn the component up in SolidWorks and just need to send to shapeways or somewhere to have it 3D printed -

Jason... Very nice start on this man. I am super excited to see another 1/16th build here and also feel honored that my build as well as Johns, and Dave's build have inspired you to do this one. Seeing the start of this one is making me want to dust off my 1/16th FED that I painted right before I started the Army Funny Car. I will have to find the thread here so you can see what I have done with it so far. I also have a set of the Machined Aluminum Specialties wheels I was going to build for it. I am also hoping to finish it before a show next month. Charlie has the best approach. Test fit your parts often before you decide to paint and make sure things mock-up like you want them to. I learned the hard way a few times on the Army Car and ended up redoing a few things 2 to 3 and even 4 times...lol. Also if you have any questions on anything I will be more than happy to help and answer the questions the best I can. Looking forward to more. -

John... Thanks Brother!! Its coming along Bob... thank you Joe... I will also be making the body prop you suggested as well for when the body is up on the chassis Tyrone... Thank Brother! you know I had to figure a way out when it will be displayed at shows I take it to and I though what better way than to make something for the body to sit on. What I will also end up doing is placing a mirror underneath it so the supports can be seen from the inside. I will probably end up trying to paint it some sort of steel color that looks like raw metal but not sure if I should go with some orther color or not. -
Hey Michael... Awesome Idea. I have a bunch of pics of gages and parts that I have taken at the drags here from many of the companies displaying their parts in the vendor areas. Ever though of the possibility of making different delay boxes and timers...stuff like that. May be possible to make and have some fold lines to create the boxes. I will have to load up some pics to show you what I am talking about. Hopefully you will be able to do these in 1/16th scale too

Hey Guys.... I know I was supposed to post some pics yesterday and I slacked at it. I got tied up with some other things and I also had a mishap when I was working with some of the parts... I broke .020" drill bit and had to get another one... Anyway Here are a few pics of what I promised yesterday about showing you what this little somewhat secret side build I decided to do to give me a break from those air dams. this little side project was something I was planning on build at some point. Any way here is what I looks like so far. Keep in mind what you see is it just mocked up sitting together with no solder or glue, just a couple of pieces of Tape....... any guess's...lol You Guess it is a body Cart that will be used when it is displayed. It will look somewhat like this when done: -
Larry... Great start and looking forward to seeing your jig as well this build come together.
-
Charlie... That there is gorgeous my friend. I am a big fan of your work. I always admire your attention to detail and how clean you build. Top Notch work for sure!!
-
Dave.... I love those pics of engines you posted they all are gorgeous. That crankshaft is a work of art. I would put money down that you could build a working 1/8th scale motor with your machining skills. You are a very talented builder.

Ray... Yep it will be finished this year. I will be at the Desert Scale Classic, I wouldn't miss it. This build will be there too. Carl... Thank you for the kind words. Michael... I am hoping to have it done by mid to end of summer. Danno... You are right. It will be there. gotta keep my promise. John... Thank you. I cut all of this with a razor saw and miter box. I also cut my brass with my Drexel at times but didn't use it on these items. -

Jason... you are really close my friend thank you on the kind comments. I can't wait to see your 1/16th scale build you have started you definitely need to start a topic on it. It's great to see more 1/16th scale builds on here. Its my new favorite scale. Joe... you are really close with the thing-a-ma-jig . I will say it is something used in the pits. I know I have kept everyone in suspense probably long enough on what all those brass pieces will be used for. I will keep you in suspence a little longer and will post a few pics of what I am making when I get home from work. -

Well I wanted to show another sneak peak on a little bit of a side project but it essentially is part of this project. Anyway I have made a little progress getting most of the parts cut out. Still have more to cut and make. But here is a quick shot of it so far. What will all this brass turn into..... : -

Bob... thank you my friend. You are right about making each little piece correct. Taking that extra time up front makes a world of difference. I have been teying to aplroach little sub assemblies as if they were their own little model. Ray... lol you crack me up. I have plans of having this completed by summer time or somewhere during the summer. With that being said. This build will be completed this year -
Dave... Between your header flange and vacuum pump... You have hit it out of the park man. Gorgeous work looking forward to more.

Stuart... Thank you for the kind words Dave... Thank you my friend. I couldn't agree with you more on how the vents turned out after I got more body work done on them and another coat of primer I couldn't be happier. All of the extra work was worth it with the look I got with them. I hunk I have some cool stuff coming up next -
Clay... I am always in awe of your updates and can't wait for them so I can drool over the details. As Brad mentioned, I love your attention to detail and admire your work. I think this was a huge update and it is looking killer. Very nice work my friend.

Joe... you are very close my friend. I do have to say thank you for the reminder that you reminder on the body prop. was planning on making one. I think I will mabe make it along with this stuff too. Brad... thank you for asking if I wanted to check that place out. Like you said was a very cool place but little more than I would like to pay to use their facility. My problem is that i dont known if I would use it enough to get my money's worth...lol -

Well Fellas... I really didn't get much done today on the build but I was able to scuff the body with scotch-brite and started to tinker with the body tin work that I need to fix as well as making some changes to the mid plate that the tin work sits on when the body is closed. But I have also started to think of something else to work since I need a change of pace on this build, it will be made from all of this brass shown below... What will it be.... Stay tined and hope to have it done in a day or two -

Darryl... Thank you, this build is coming along little by little and was hoping it would be going a little faster than it has been but so far i am happy with how its turning out. I am making myself stay true that i wasn't going to rush anything because of what I had envisioned for this build and taking detailing to a level I have never done before. I appreciate you taking the time to go thru all of the old post, I know there are a bunch of pages on this build and takes some time to go thru them...lol -

Brad.... thank you John... thanks brother. Dave... thank you so much my friend. It feels great to be over this little milestone with these air dams. They were starting to burn me out...lol Jim... thank you sir. I would have to say that the air dams have tested my patients at times...lol I am really stoked about these new rims i got. It added a whole new depth to the build since they are the right rims and look just like the 1:1. I know of a few other builds where I could use these cragers on lol Sflam... thank you
