Straight on shot of the Right hand side: Here is a mock up of the piece on the Right hand side for the front put into place. once in place I will drill the slots into them: Then the piece put in place for the left hand side. Both sides still need to be glued in place but wanted to get an idea on how it would look: Higher up angle of the pieces set into place of the right hand side: -

Hey Fellas.... I apologize that I haven't had any updates in a while. I was out of town and at Disneyland this past weekend. I got back and did a little more work tonight on those air dams getting them reshaped a bit. Here are some progress pics.... Here is the start of reshaping. I took and angled the front down a little more than before. The one closest to you has been sanded here and the one behind was how it used to look. I think it is much better now: Setting the left hand piece in place to get a glimpse of how it will look now. Let me know what you think and if it looks better than before: The Right hand set into place: Head on shot of the left hand side: -
Clay... Thank you so much for taking the time to explain the process to me. I am going to have to try it on a seat i have laying around. I can only imagine what this looks like in person, the pics you posted looks like the real thing and is simply gorgeous. Since you are saying the pics couldnt capture the texture i can only imagine that is even better. Very nice work!!

Dave... you know it didnt dawn on me wjen looking at the pics that they were distored. Since these pics wete taken from a video of this car from you tube. I believe Prudhuomme was using a go pro when he did this video. But there are certain pics where the distortion is more noticable. Thank you for keeping me in check. I am hoping to get some more work done this evening and hopefully I will have an update later for everyone. Got a couple of things to do at the house when i get back from the vet. My dogs getting his stitches taken out. Stay tunned -
Dave... fantastic work my friend. That oil pump is gorgeous. I sure love the last pic, the angle that its taken at with the tires and block..... lookin' Sweet!

Joe... I couldn't agree more with you about reworking these air dams. I want to make the look as close to the 1:1 as possible. I will be reworking theses and hopefully have an update soon. Scott... Thank you my friend. I sent you an email with some pics hopefully they came thru. -
Brad I have picked up some of my scale motorsports carbon fiber decals from Hobby Depot in Tempe.

Clay.... awesome updates. I have admired your work for many years And it is a pleasure watching this build come together. Thank you for showing us the build process. I am always itching for updates on this. that seat has to be one of the best looking seats i have seen. I do have to ask.... what did you use for the texture of the seat and how did you do it? The finish looks like a suede material and you hit it spot on. Beautiful work on the carbon fiber decals. Best i have seen.

I love the colors on this one. The white black and blue go great together and love the Matte finish on it too.

Rick... Thank you for the kind words. I had to think of something quick n easy for the angles. I think with a little more work I could of come up with something a little better. But I won't complain because it did the job. Mike... thank you my friend and sounds good. Dirk... thank you for following along on this long journey. I think i get that way with thia builds at times where i go crazy building for a while it seems and then there are moments where i feel a little burnt out but I love building and cant wait to get this one closer to being done. Actually Inhave been itching to break out the airbrush and paint somethings. -

John.... Thanks Brother!! They are getting there. Jim... thank you my friend. Its been a pleasure sharing this buildvwith everyone. Brad... thank you. Yoy know i have to agree that I need to bring down the front a little more. Will do that later tonight. Sflam.... thank you. Joe... thank you sir! i really Appreciate the suggestion and i welcome feedback. I want to make sure i am understanding correct. When you are standing in front if the car infont of the headlight and looking down towards the rear it needs to be more rounded in that direction right? I added some plastic on the inside corners last night so i wouldnt sand thru the walls when rounding but I think I need to make the radius a little bigger to get that curvature you are talking about so they don't look as boxy. Let me kmow ifnI understood correctly. Thanks Dave... thank you! -

Brad... Thanks buddy. So Tell me what you think of the update below. I think they look much better now but do you think they need to be shaped more now?? Danno.... Thank you my friend. Ok so I started messing around with the air dams this afternoon. I still have some more work to go but wanted to show progress and see what you all think with the new shape of things...... Here I stared out by shaping the front portion a little more giving it a bigger radius before I add plastic to create the openings: Here is a side view of the Right hand side: And the Left hand side: higher view of the left hand side: and both: -

Aaron... Thanks buddy I can't wait to have them completed today. Tyrone... Thank you brother. Brad.... Thank you my friend. Yep I will be changing that front up some more since the height difference is there between the front and rear of the air dam. That's as far as I got last night and was too tired to do more to it last night before bed but I do need to fix that issue today. -
Tyrone... I admire your work so much. This is going to be another killer build. You sure have these chassis down pat. Every time I see your build it makes me want to start my Pro Mod build. I still would love to see what you would do to a 1/16th scale pro mod. The detail you do in these 1/25th scale build is incredible and think you would hit a grand slam in 1/16th scale. Love your work brother!

Next I started to make the top portion of the air dams. I first made a jig by gluing some strip plastic to some balsa wood to help me keep a consistent angle when gluing the pieces. I used .020" thick plastic for the parts I was gluing together: Here is the start of the parts after they were glued on my make shift jig: Here are the parts after trimming the height down and adding shape to the front and rear pieces. Still not done but I need to add pieces to create the holes for the front as well as a lip for the hole on the back side: Here is a side profile view, I still need to work on shaping the front end down a little bit more. I think it needs to swoop a little more to the back with making the radius I am sanding a little bigger: I will be working on this more today. I need to add some pieces to the front to create the two holes to it. the rear outlet hole needs a little bit of plastic added to make a lip on it and then I will be drilling a hole in the base and the body so you can see thru it like the real car. So stay tuned and I will have some more updates later. I need to finish some house chores first -

I had started out by making the base of the Air Dam with .015" thick Evergreen Styrene, Getting it sized so it was close enough and adding holes for the rivets I will be using to hold it in place: Next I got it into the position with the help of my Tamiya masking tape as a guide where I wanted it to sit. I started by drilling one of the holes in the corner first, then I placed a rivet to pin it in place and then did the opposite corner. One by one I transfered all of the holes into the body: I did that to both sides to get the placement done first on them: More pics to follow.... -

So Fellas.... Yesterday and last night I worked on the front Air Dams that go over the front wheels. I was hoping to get the completed but I still have some work in them today but I have gotten a good start on them. I will let the pics do the talking.... Here are the reference pics I was using from the Army Vega Video on You Tube: Here you can see that the air dams are open to the inside of the body and can see the floor & tire thru it: Trying to show the side profile: Back Opening: -

Niko... Thank you my friend. I had to challenge my self to see if I could make it working...lol To answer your question on painting, I will be painting the hatch and body separate. I will be unbolting the hinge and will paint the parts that way. I will probably take the edge of the hatch that sits on the body and sand it down just a tad to compensate for the little paint build up that the part may get. Scott.... Thank you. I can't take the credit on the train springs. One of the other posters here Bob... was the one that suggested it and i am thankful that he did because they worked perfect. Mark... Thank you Dave... Thank you my friend. I have to say that I am very pleased with how its turning out so far. I just can't wait to have more of the engine done and body in primer. -
I will be there for sure

Rom.... great update. I am glad to see you getting some bench time in. I am gonna tell you what John Teresi told me a while back and that was to have a goal of getting at least 20-30 mins of bench time in a day. With that you will make headway on the build. Thats been my goal and i havent gotten to the bench every day this week but I am planning on making this whole weekend a model building weekend. I need ti finish my funny car to move on to other projects. I know with out a doubt that you will get your groove back and be building like crazy again. Great to have you back.- 245 replies
