Rom... thanks for checking in buddy. glad to see you back around here. Dave... thanks buddy. I have no idea what rear end this is other than it was what was in the kit and I modified it a little bit. thank Revell for not making them more accurate lol. I am still looking for pics of the drive line set ups in these early funny cars. Dave has me pointed in the right direction so far with looking at the mark williams website. I can't thank Dave enough for the many questions I have asked him and he was willing to take the time and answer each one for me. I know I benifit and learn so much from this hobby with guys like Dave. while I am stuck at work I keep day dreaming what I want to be working on with this build and what I need to do next. I can't wait for some bench time. -

Hey Scott.... Hope things are going ok at home. Thanks for your feedback too. I was working a little more on the seat belt drawings for you tonight. I apologize its taken so long. I was getting some dimensions on a few of the parts tonight. I still have 6 parts to dimension and one part to model. Will have something for you for sure next week. -
Nope... not at all . always love your builds Tim and look forward to what you will be bring to the Desert Scale Classic next year.

Derrick... bummer to hear that you have to clean the body up again. I have painted a few resin kits in my times and have had very good luck with them. I know this is going to be a dumb question but did you soak it in wesley's bleach white by chance? The reason I ask this is because most resin bodies or parts need to be cleaned from the mold release that is on the body. I was told years ago that Wesley's was one good product to clean resin with. Besides doing that I will also wash my parts in a little warm water with Dawn. It will also help with removing grease. Once clean I sand and start adding bondo doing body work and primering etc... I have had to fill small pinholes and fix things like that but once you have it prepped good, you should be able to paint it just like a normal plastic kit. By the way I am excited to see you back on this project. I have been itching seeing the body in paint. Keep up the great work Bro!!

John... Every new post continues to Impress me Bud!!! I am lost for words. Man does this build look killer. You are a talented builder and one that I admire and look up too. Those decals Dave did are just awesome. Nice work on them. John you sure have me motivated to get my Army Vega Funny Car body painted. Man this is some motivation..... Oh yea was gonna tell you when you are done sweeping the many shows with this build and you are ready to retire this build. I will have a safe and Open spot on my display shelves in my hobby room for this car ..... I really think this is the best build I have seen from you so far. I am looking forward to seeing this in person. Now I really need to finish my F/C for NNL west in February .... If not I will bring it in progress again

Tyrone.... thanks buddy sflam.... i apprieciate your comments and i have to agree with everyone that the nickel is what i am going with and you are right for the era of the car. yellow zinc is not correct. But I do have to mention that Prudhomme did rebuild and restore this car to what it is today and the recent pics is all I really have to go on for refaetence on this build. Hans.... I havent forgotten aboit the pinion support. its on my list of to do's. well everyone... i hate to say that i havent made any progress. I have been sick for the past week and i am finally feeling better. hope to.have some progress done on this in the next few days. -
Billet Specialty Street Lite wheels?
Mooneyzs replied to 68novabbc's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
You should contact Jim at Micro Nitro... He may have some turned aluminum rims really similar or if not he could probably do these exact wheels for you. that is a gorgeous Nova you got there too -
I will be one of the first to tell you that Mark Johnson's Resin engine's has to be the best resin engines around. I am using his 426 Hemi "Elephant" motor in my 1/16 scale Army Vega Funny Car build over in the drag section. I also have a 392 Injected engine from his as well and can't wait till he has his Big Block Chevy done too. He does build beautiful parts and takes it that extra step to add in the little details that weren't there. He is also a great guy to do business with. You can't go wrong with his products. I know I am thankful to have guys like Mark doing what he does for our hobby. I love 1/16th scale. by the way Micheal... look forward too seeing pics of this build.

How to tie up the wires to the frame?
Mooneyzs replied to John Pol's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
i have done this same method by striping a piece of 30 ga wire and using the wire and twisting it. I also. had tried cutting small strips of electrical tape but i found out if you move it after some time it leaves a sticky residue... so not best method in my opinion. I know that i have seen John Teresi use some tape on his builds and they look great but I forgot the name of the tape he once told me. -

Joe (mysterj1) Thanks for the kind comments about this build. This build will be my most involved and detailed to date. thank you for following along and enjoying all of the pictures. Feel free to save them all if you want. It's why I post them to show How I am doing all of it. That's one thing I love about this hobby and this message board, being able to learn from others on how they do things. I have learned quite a lot since I started posting here. Its the best community and a bunch of talented builders. I never though of myself as a teacher. thank you again. Brad and Danno.... as always guys it was a pleasure seeing both of you and chatting it up for a bit yesterday. I always enjoy bring my work to the swap meets so you can check it out. Next time I will have a lot more done that's for sure -
1/16 Scale Army Vega Funny Car - Finished 10/14/2018
Mooneyzs replied to Mooneyzs's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Hey Guys.... Thanks for all of the compliments. I am glad Alyn pointed that little detail out. I am much happier with it now. I am thinking of painting the end of the Simulated Hex nut black to see what it looks like but thinking I should place an order on some more of the threaded stud's and nuts. Joe... The threaded stud (Rod) and Flange nut are on Scale Hardware's website under the Tuner Model Manuffactory. Its 0.7mm threaded hardware http://www.scalehard...ardware-c-16_21 I am gonna go get a few more parts repainted and continue to work on this today. So stay tuned.... -

Mooneyzs replied to Mooneyzs's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Alyn... You are right. I had over looked the detail of the studs in the rear end. So I pulled out some of my Simulated Hex nuts from Scale Hardware and swapped them out. But I am thinking of going with the threaded stud and nuts, shown just below the rear end. I just don't have enough of them to do the whole rear end at the moment. Looks like I may have to place another order to Bob at Scale hardware. Thanks for the compliments about this build. It means a lot. Jim... Thanks man. I have to agree with you. -

Bill thanks man.... I was thinking the same thing. but the brass could kind of be like grade 8 bolts how they have the yellow zinc plating . -

Hey Guys.... thanks for all of the kind comments. I know I haven't posted much lately but I have been getting some parts repainted this past week and well I need your help at the moment. I have stuck two different bolts in on the rear end and trying to figure out which looks best.... the Nickle plated bolt or the brass bolts on the 3rd member of the rear end. Let me know which you think is best. Also note that this is the last time you will see the rear end before the rear end assembly is completed. I will be gluing the disk brake and hubs to the rear end as well as installing the brake line, calipers and the few other details this weekend. So stay tuned but here is a pic of the bolts. Let me know which you think looks best.... Thanks! -
Dave... That looks killer man. You are welcome bud!! I was happy I could help with it. Nice work man, I can't wait to see more of this build
-
Dave... that engine is looking great man. Hey I sent out those decals earlier this week. Hopefully you have gotten them or maybe they will show up tomorrow
