  1. I would suggest wiping it down with wax and grease remover. I personaly use all PPG and House of.Kolor basecoat/clearcoat automoive paints but before I spray I wipe my bodies down with wax and grease remove then use a tack rag on it. You an get wax and grease remover from any auto body paint supply store. you maybe able to pick some up at napa, autozone, O-rileys...etc.
  2. Any updates on this build?
  3. Very Cool build. that is a coll Lincon. gonna be a sweet build.
  4. Bill... I need to pick my jaw off the floor Bud.... Holy Crapola this thing is awesome. I really need to just shell out some dough and buy the lathe I have been wanting...lol. Nice work man. I can't wait to see you do another 1/16th scale build
  5. Dave... you are the man when it comes to machining stuff. If I didn't know that this was a model, I swear that this engine looks like the real thing. You have Skills bud!!
  6. Welcome Aboard Lennon..... this is gonna be a great build. Looking forward to it.
  7. Dave... Thanks bud....Now all the pressure is one me...lol Jim... Thank you my friend. Hey I haven't forgotten about those drawings for you. Gonna get on them soon for you. Well Fellas I got a little bit of an update for you. Got some bench time in tonight working more on the rear end and finally got my T-fitting for the brake line scratch built and did a quick mock up of the rear end. I feel like I am making progress and that I could almost paint the rear end. Its a good feeling to feel this close with it. I just need to do do some final sanding and primer on it. Here are the pics.... Here is the starting point for my Brake line T-Fitting. I started with 1/32" Brass tubing soldering two pieces together: Once soldered I started to cut and sand to size: Here it is after I was finished cutting and sanding, I placed it next to a penny so you can get the idea of the size of this thing . For some reason I think you guys are gonna go and then say I am nuts... : I had to mock the T-Fitting up with the fittings that go with it: Here is the rear end with the brake lines and fittings mocked up. Sorry for the poor brake line plumbing, I was wanting to do it quick but when I do the final one I will have it looking a lot better: Up Close View: + Feels good to have this under my belt now. back to the work bench I go...
  8. Shane... glad to see you back this is going to be one killer build. you are off to a great start and I will be following along.
  9. Bill.... I have no idea how I missed the start of this build. Holy Smokes Man.... I am totally impressed with your skills my friend. I need to step up my game big time...lol. The work you have done on this engine is just blowing my mind and looks amazing. I can't wait to more of this come together. I can only imagine what you have in store for us next. This engine is a work of Art!! Keep up the great work and I will be following along for sure.
  10. I think I may need one of these for my 1/16th scale collection....lol I need to take a look at my LHS to see if they have one.

  12. Scott... This is going to be an awesome build my friend. I am looking forward to following along with this project and can't wait to see updated already.
  13. Darryl... Thank you man! Ira... Thank you! Dave... Thanks bud, especially for all of the help you have provided. You are a major asset to this hobby. Joe... thanks man. Well I sat at the bench for a few tonight, not as much time as I would of liked but I did make a little progress. I ended up getting the rear end looking better and with just a little more sanding an a tad bit more bondo I think I can call it good to after that and should be ready for paint. But I have been debating if I want to glue the axle in the rear end before I do this and if I do I am going to end up drilling two holes in the rear end so that I can get some epoxy in then I would go and back fill with putty. It's an idea I got tonight so that the axle will stay in the correct place for the ride height since there is room for a little play between the axle and rear end. What do you guys think?? Would it be better to glue the axle in place or not?? anyway here are a couple of pics.... Here is the rear end after getting a quick coat of primer on it after doing a little clean up and filler pieces: Left Side: Right Side: I did a little more work to the calipers by getting the holes drilled for the line and fittings:
  14. Hey Joe there is a place called Smallparts.com but it now is part of amazon and they have a bunch of different materials. here is a link to the tubing: http://www.amazonsup...Keywords=tubing they have many different sizes to choose from as well as lengths of tubing. I have been meaning to place an order myself. Another source for small tubing, stainless or brass... is slot cars tubing http://www.ebay.com/...#ht_1983wt_1163 http://www.ncphobbie...m/metal-tubing/ there is another one I was trying to think of but can't find it. Hopefully that gets you headed in the right direction. It may of been this one... http://bracket500.com/jds/jds2009.pdf or http://bracket500.com/links/links1.html Hey Brad.... Let me know if you wanna borrow my Air Brush
  15. Joe.... that Chassis sure looks great with paint on it. I really like the color choice too. Man you have to feel like you hit a big milestone getting this painted. You sure have me wanting to get paint on my funny car chassis now
  16. Nice work Steve... Its looking good!! The engine looks awesome
  17. John... the frame looks unbelievable my friend. I can't believe you almost have the chassis completed lol. Keep up the great work!
  18. Darryl this is going to be one killer build my friend. I have to agree with the others here that you should do a Highly detailed one since it is of your own car but I am gonna throw in a mix You could also do a curbside first and then a Highly detailed one to follow
  19. Darryl.... Nice build man. Looks awesome!!
  20. I am at a loss for words. This Build is just flat out nice. i still dont know how you build so fast. i cant wait for the next update.
  21. Dave... Thank you man!!.... Well guys I was able to have some bench time today and I reworked my Caliper mounting brackets. A big thanks goes out to Dave (Comp1839) for showing me the way they should have been and not how I had them. Anyway I am so much happier with them now. With out wasting anymore time here are the pics.... Here is the new brackets that I fabricated, as well as you can see where I had glued the old ones: Here is the rear end with the new brackets glued on as well as the old ones. I left the old ones on to be able to line the new ones up in the same place: Here is a pic showing the removal of the old brackets: Here is a mock-up shot of the caliper and disk. Looks much better now: Somewhat of an up close view: I still have a little more clean up work on the rear end and brackets. I need to add a few filler pieces but then once that is done I should be good to go and I can shoot some more primer on it. Then it should be ready for paint.
  22. John... this is coming along nice, Looking forward to more bud!
  23. Chuck... this build is looking amazing so far man. You are doing a killer job with this body.... Count me in as another who would pick up one of these in Resin when you get them done as well as a set of Decals. I can't wait to see more of this build.
  24. Keke.... Looking good man!! You are making great progress.
