ok another small update... All I have pretty much been working on this afternoon is the manifold..... I got the rear injector line locations redone so now they sit at the same angle as the rest of them. then it was Little things like sanding adding bondo..... spray a little primer sand some more add some more bondo...etc...lol So the manifold is now pretty much done other than I need to sand it down again just to clean some of the work up and reprimer and then it should be ready for paint... as well as I need to primer the pop off plate. I will say that I am finally happy with how it is turning out now. Here is a shot of the manifold as to where it is now.... little more sanding and primer and we should be good to go: Here is the other side: Then I worked a little on the oil filter housing. sanding down edges and all I need to do now on this is glue my bracket I made and add a final primer coat and it will be ready for some Alclad: Next up to work on is the oil pump which I will be scratch building and redoing the location for the oil lines in the oil pan. A Big thanks goes out to Dave (Comp1839) for some reference material to show me what type of oil pump and system that was used on this engine. We truly have great guys here on this board willing to help out when you ask them questions. Thank you -

Here is a quick afternoon teaser for everyone. I have been back working on my manifold again. I decided to start working on on the burst panel to change it up for a few. Here is the progress so far... I started out by sorta making a make shift jig.... real high tech if you ask me ..... more like Redneck Engineering... . Put down a piece of .015" thick styrene and taped it to my hobby mat. Then I sat the manifold on the hobby mat and this is to get the injector lines all at the same height for gluing them in place: Here is the parts that I have gathered for the burst panel and the start of the springs which I made from 30 gauge wire that I stripped: I proceeded to cut off the burst panels spring and bolt, then drilled holes in the spots I cut off. Then I transfer drilled the holes into the manifold and cut the springs down to the correct length: Once I did that I had to mock it up and put it together to see how it looks: Here it it next to a picture that I found online and printed the pic out, not to shabby if I'd say so: -

John... thank you buddy. Man I sure would love to take this build to GSL. I want to experience that show at least once. Bart.... I am packing this model up and calling it quits.... you should be seeing a box in a few days.... . So far I have 445 Hours into this build... wonder how many when its done... . I can't tell you how happy I have been with the way this is turning out. You and bill are so right that there are so many Top Notch builders on this forum. Everyone's talent just blows me away. I think we also have some great resources here to help each other out. I am totally stoked to be part of this amazing group and how you can ask other builders questions or advice and how helpful they are to lend a helping hand. Richard.... Thanks buddy.... You are right I am probably more crazy than nuts...lol -

Mooneyzs replied to Old Sprinter's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Ken... oh my goodness... Those cars turned out great. Man you do some awesome work. I do have to say that the white, blue & black sprint car has to be my favorite of them. I sure hope to get to see these in person at a show some time.... Next years Desert Scale Classic maybe unless there is something else sooner. -
Scott... I also forgot that Tim at TDR has some nitrous sets that they make as well with the jets for the engine and the handles for the bottles Luc.... you are so true about Jim. He is an awesome guy and what an asset he is to our hobby as well as the rest of the guys who are producing the aftermarket items for us. Thank you everyone.

Joe... thanks man. I am glad you are able to learn some stuff from my build because I know I have learned a few things from your pro mod build. Its one thing I love about this place is we all can learn from one another to become better builders. Ok so.... for 2 hours tonight I have been tinkering with this oil filter mounting bracket, it was being a pain. It took me a few try's to get the bracket bent the way I wanted to. I first started out with printing plate and basically wrapping it around 3/32" tube to get the ruff shape. Once I had the rough shape I had to trim some of it down and sand the corners to have that rounded look. Then I had to figure out how am I going to attach this bracket to the oil filter housing. Now that I pretty much have it done just a little more clean up to do on it. I had no idea it was going to take me so long but I wanted it perfect so I kept messing with it. Now I am unsure if I should go ahead and glue the bracket to the housing since all of this is going to be painted with chrome alclad Here is the pic of the filter housing and bracket, don't mind that the bracket looks like it doesn't sit flush with the chassis or the oil filter housing. I was trying to balance it in place for the picture: If you take a close look you can see that the oil filter housing has a push button quick release pin that holds it in place, and yes I am going to attempt to make it too...... yes I am nuts.... -

Wayne... its great to see you back on this build man. It sure looks great. Your addition with the carbon fiber is just going to pop. The wheelie bars turned out great too. Seeing everyone working on Pro Mod builds is making me want to start mine so bad. -

Guys... thanks for all of the kind comments. they are much appreciated. Gonna get to working more on this so Hopefully I will have some more updates for you in a while... Bart.... you know if I had my Sherline lathe that I want oh so bad.... I would machine a groove in them and at O-rings for the rubber gasket seal... Ok time to go work on this build.....stay tuned -
Ok John.... I have to tell you the first 3 words that came out of my mouth when I saw the engine together...."Oh Holy Crapola!" lol Man This build just gets better and better. You are the man. I really need to have you show me how you make your belts. they always turn out so nice. I am loving all of the detail you are putting into this build. Keep it up John...

Joe... These headers are just awesome and looking killer man. You are doing one heck of a job on them and i can't wait to see the next details. Ted... Thanks for the link, I just ordered two of the sets of the weld transfers to try them out. figured it wouldn't hurt to have a .015" & .025" size...lol

Hello All.... sat down tonight and focused more on the oil filter set up for this build. For some reason seemed like I spent alot more time on this than I thought it would take....maybe it was because I was watching a recorded drag race from a couple weeks ago . I seemed to watch more of the race than build...haha. I guess It will be good that I am going to be cleaning the rest of my hobby room this weekend because then I won't have the TV in there to distract me from building...lol Started out with drilling holes in the oil filter housing for the fittings that I will be using for the build: Next I positioned the oil filters where I wanted them to sit up against the housing and then transfer drilled the holes into the filters with my pin vise: Once I was done with that I started to work on the RB Motion A/N fittings for this. Took me a few attempts to get the rod bent to the correct angle that I was looking for: After finishing up on the fittings it was time to shoot some primer on the housing to see how it looked from when I glued the halves together. They turned out pretty good other than a couple of spots that I need to sand down and add a little body filler too. Once I do that, I will shoot some more primer and should be ready for paint: I couldn't resist mocking it all up together to get an idea of how it will look. I am ready to paint all of the parts but I need to finish the prep work on them: -

Hello Guys.... got a very small update to show you. was able to finally sit down for a few since I haven't touched this since almost a week ago. But I can't wait for the weekend, I have a 3 day weekend and will be spending most of it working on this build. Well I started out the night with one of Pro Tech's part # MCLS-18 Dual Remote Oil Filter with filters set. One thing I noticed with the space I was going to be putting this it seemed a little longer than the room I had. So I decided I was going to cut some of it out to shorten it an glue it back together to be able to fit the package it needed to be in: After getting the pieces cut, I laid down a piece of wax paper and then proceeded to glue the two halves back together with the Green bottle of Zap a Gap super glue. I made sure to line things up straight and then added my glue: Then I had to redo the shaft that I made for the Idler pulley. I first started out by cutting the old shaft off and then redrilling the hole for the rod. Once I got the rod and tube made, I drilled and tapped the shaft for the bolt hardware. Added the Pulley and screwed the bolt in for a test fit: Well I am off to head back to the bench to try and get a couple more things done for the night on this. -

Ever use Monokote?
Mooneyzs replied to Modlbldr's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Tom... you have a good point about it being very thin. I am wondering if you are able to use some sort of adhesive on it to get it to lay down where you want and then once dry you can clear over it. It wouldn't hurt to try it on a test body. I hear ya about hating to see it go to waste. I say give it a whirl and see how it does.
