  1. 801ryan....You are welcome and glad I was able to help you out on one way to do the rear. Another way if you wanted is you could "Z" the frame but that would be a little more work. Foxer....I was hoping that people wouldn't get upset with me posting so many photos. I know I personally have learned things in the past from others showing me and trying myself. I am currently working on getting my doors scribbed out then I will be time to lay some bondo on. So Hopefully I will have some more updated pics sometime this week.
  2. Paul that turned out great. Your daughter did an awesome job on the kit. Many props to her. Let her know I think the car is beautiful.
  3. Thanks guys for all the nice comments. Hey Smart-Resins.....I have a couple ideas on the colors for the body. I just haven't been able to figure out how I would like to do the graphics. I think I may have to google some images of Altereds to get some ideas. Mind if I ask what is trackburners??
  4. Spyder thanks, I really appreciate the compliments Sevee.... No worries at all about your post. I know its hard to tell the tone of when something is posted and you are just reading it, you know. I appreciate the compliments. I am thinking to myself now how the heck did I over looked the detail of not having the straps on the tank to hold it down lol I kind of feel stupid about it haha
  5. Thanks guys!! 801ryan.... here are a couple pictures that I just shot to show you what I did to the frame and suspension on how I lowered it. I had another '32 kit that I took pictures against so you can see what I did. Ok here on the front suspension if you can see the two little steps on the center section. I had cut them down so it would be able to lower the center of the frame. In doing this you will also need to trim the two pieces to the left and right of the center part. Then I also took and sanded down the top leaf spring to get it to where I wanted. Let me know if it doesn't make anysense I sould of added some arrows and photoshoped the picture. If you need me to do that, let me know and I will edit the photo for you. Now for the rear end on what i did was if you can see here basically on the bag perches I cut a section out of the middle of them and glued them back into position but when I glued them I put the pieces back into the frame holes and was careful to glue in place so that the parts would line back up correct. as far as the frame goes, I first started out by cutting the fuel tank out. After that I shorted the lenth of the frame rails to the rear of the car so that the frame would sit inside of the body since I was channeling the body over the frame and then I added a piece of plastic to box in the frame and will making a floor section to cover that open hole area. I hope that these pictures helped. If you have any other questions feel free to as and I will help out as best as I can.
  6. Not a problem Kevin. I will see if I can get them done in the next few days and I will shoot you a PM to get your email addy from ya.
  7. Thanks MikeMc ok little update on the project. I have got the top a little more in shape but there is still work to do before lay bondo on it. I also had lowered the car a little more than what it was before. So here are some updated pic for you to see. Enjoy.... I got the top pieces that I added shaped down and am currently getting the pieces in the interiror shapped down which is tuff since there isn't much room...lol Front View
  8. Spyder that is Awesome. The tribute looks great!
  9. Bill That Looks great. Love the color and you hit the nail on the head with those tires. They look so much better than what comes with the kit. And the floor pan is awesome Very nice build for sure. Spyder....Thanks for the props I should be painting the body sometime this week, So hopefully by next weekend I will have some painted pics of the body to post.
  10. Hi Kevin thats awesome that it is the same dragster. Oh that is sweet about the Hot Rod Reunion, I will have to plan on meeting you guys there for sure. I will make sure and put those dates on the calender. I would definetly come up for that. I am sure I could talk George to go again. I actually called and talk to him and Paul yesterday and Paul seemed he was excited to go back this year. If you want I can scan all of the other pics that I have of that dragster and email them to you. They are pics of when they were building the car, so there is some cool stuff you can see for the detail.
  11. Thanks Modelmartin, my love from drag racing came from growing up around it. I have a few other ideas on some less well known drag cars. I have had an idea of doing a Super Comp Dragster which I got as far as getting the frame scratch built. I actually pulled that kit out yesterday to take a look at it and decided that I am going redo another scrach built frame for it cause I wasn't happy with they way it turned out, this one which was done probably 13+ years ago. So in the near future you will probably see me posting pics of that build.
  12. Thanks for the tip on usuing aluminum tape, I think that is a much better way than when I tried usuing electrical tape because it leaves a sticky residue if you have pull electrical tape back up. I love how we can learn new tricks and ideas from others on the boards. I will be looking forward to seeing the new pics
  13. Thanks Nails, back when I did this kit years ago this was the most detailed I had ever done on a model. Which it inspired me to do another very detailed pro street which was kind of started but has been on the back burner for some time. I am sure I will get this other pro street project working on again soon, I have about a dozen other projects going on and just trying to focus on a couple at a time. But what modeler never has multipule projects going on at once...lol
  14. Thank you MrObsessive... You were right about that kit begging for thinner profile tires. I happened to be at a local hobby shop and saw those Pegasus wheels a knew instanly that I need them for this kit. I have to agree that the tires that come with the kit didn't look right at all. I bet that turned out great with you using the C6 tires from the corvette. Do you have pics of it posted? would love to see it.
  15. Walt.... Thank you, I really like how it is turning out so far there was a look that I had for the car and had to go for it...lol Vizio... Thanks for the compliments and belive it or not I actually lowered the car some more. I have gotten a little more completed on the model and will have to take a few more pics of it to post.
  16. Very Nice Build.... this is turning out fantastic. Love the interior!!
  17. This is exactly the same way I sand my tires, I use emery boards and sand by hand by turning the wheel in one hand and sanding stick in the other rotating the tire with each stroke.
  18. Thanks what a small world lol. I actually pulled some old Scale Auto magazine's out of my shed from like 1991 to 1993 looking at them today while watching the daytona 500 haha
  19. Thanks for the compliments. I guess when I was 19 I really wasn't thinking too much about the Hold down straps at the time. It never dawned on me back then to put them on but now that you pointed that out I think I will add them to the kit.
  20. Thanks 09WNS, would love to see your build as well. Hopefully you will post some pics when you get yours done Cheers!
  21. Kevin here are a couple pictures of the A/Fuel Dragster that the gentleman brought me. I have about a total of 45 pictures that he brought and in each of them he labeled things for me with a sharpie pen which you will see in a couple of the pics. It was so awesome that he was willing to do that for me so I could use for reference to build this kit. Its how I got the idea for doing the checker board for the seat as well. here are the pictures.... Let me know if its the dragster you were talking about. Pretty cool to see the son of Sammy Hagar here in the picture as well as the painter that did the paint job This is Steve the driver in this picture Here is the pic which made me want to do my seat in the checker board pattern As I mentioned It was so cool and I was so appreciative for the one guy who brought me all of the pictures he did with the labels of everything
  22. Kevin that is so funny you say that about the Spagetti Bender..... you won't believe this but my dad used to pit on the Top Alcohol Dragster of Steve and Mario San Paolo, who were the crew chief and driver of the Spagetti Bender back in the 70's and early 80's. I was 7 months old at my first drags and we did that til I was about 13. That is where I got my love for drag racing. I wish it would of continued on and maybe it could of went somewher for me but I am thankful I got to be part of it in my younger years grouwing up. When I used to work at Toy's Galore in Salinas years ago when I was in High school. One of the guys that used to come in was helping on the A/Fuel Front Engine Dragster of the Spagetti Bender.... I can't remember his name but he brought me a bunch of pictures for reference years ago with this dragster. I should scan a few of the pics to show you. What a small world it is. You will have to let me know if you and George are planning on going to Bakersfield this year for the Nostalgia Drags. I will have to come up and meet you cause I have been wanting to go there for years. I have some cousins that live in Bakersfield. Casey..... the colors on the engine are the testors metalizers sprayed out of the spray can. Thanks for the compliments too. I will have to scan some pics that were some of the inspiration for this project, which is the car I belive Kevin is talking about. This is the Dragster I remember growing up that my Dad pitted on. I found this on NHRA's website. I am sure that my parents have many pictures back home with this car, which I need to ask if I can scan them for my reference. One of my jobs when I was a young kid was to hold the funnel when Steve would fill the gas tank with Alcohol and I would help rolling on the VHT on the rear tires to make them sticky as well as holing the spring in the parachute while steve was foling the parachute for packing when I was a little guy. lol I am hoping to pick up a 1/16 scale Don Garlits or Tom Mcewen kit to try and build a replica of this car
  23. Hi Kevin.... I was hoping to make it up for the NNL west this year but don't know if I will be able to make it since I was laid off work in December. I was trying to figure a way out that I could make it go up there with you and George. For some reason I was thinking that the show was at the beginning of march until I looked on their website this weekend. If I would of only of know I could of made plans to make it up. thanks for the compliments on the car. I have some more drag kits in mind that I will be building soon
  24. Thanks Macs.... I am very excited to get this painted this week, I've got the color sitting here just can't shoot it until I get the hardner for my clear.
  25. Thanks everyone I appreciate the compliments. I know this was an old build but have been pretty proud of it. I am just excited about getting back into the hobby again
