  1. You can handle it! I have this and 6 other projects for 4 other community builds on the desk right now!
  2. Alan at Ma's Resin also makes some very nice off road tires like those in soft resin. Here's a link to check them out: http://public.fotki.com/cnaind/truck-tires--wheels/off-road--pickup-tires/ Be sure to check out both pages, this link is for page one.
  3. A BBQ at Gregg's, maybe! OH, WAIT!! I forgot, I don't have wings, so I can't get there! And there is NO WAY I'm getting on one of those flying tin cans, either!! That would mean Gregg would have to get on "Pineapple Airways" and have a BBQ here in the mainland!
  4. That's looking very nice so far, Roger. I have one planned to turn into a hearse, so you can go pick up my future customers!
  5. Thanks, Brian! Believe me, I'm glad to be back!
  6. AWW, Romell, you're gonna make me blush!
  7. I do some digging in the next couple days and see what I can find.
  8. Chuck, when did you sneak in and take my picture!?!?
  9. How did you know I was doing that!!
  10. I finally got my internet service back after it being down since Monday!! Not being able to come on here and talk with my internet friends was killing me!
  11. Do you want a more pro touring wheel combo or skinnies in front and wide in back like what's on it right now? Let me know and I'll see if I might have something you like.
  12. Is the track the front or rear track width? Also, can you post a pic of the front and rear suspensions? I've never had the Sidewinder, so I'm not familar with it. If the track is good, of course you have no problems, and if it fits very close to the fenders, you should be able to get away with just thinning the inner part of the fenderwells some until it fits.
  13. OOPS! I thought something seemed out of place, but I just couldn't put my finger on it! It just stinks to have to redo things, it just adds time to the build. I found that out the hard way when I had to redo my big custom sleeper after I got mad at it and threw it across my desk. It took an extra week to repair it!
  14. You're right, Mat, or at least it's my better way, anyway! I always glue my engines halves together first, sand any joint seams like the nasty little seam on the bottom of the oil pan on kits with the pan molded to the engine block, then I attach anything else like heads or intakes that will be the same color. After that, I paint everything as one unit. I will also do the same on NASCAR frames and truck frames. On the NASCAR frames, I glue everything that will be the same color as the main frame like the rollbars together first, then spray paint it as one unit. My truck frames are done the same way, here is one I have in primer from a current project. I didn't have just a pic of the frame, but if you look closely, you can see the air tanks and fuel tank mounts hanging from the frame under the cab and sleeper, as well as the rear axles and front springs. Everything that is in primer on the frame will end up being painted the same as the main frame color. In my opinion, glueing parts together that are going to be painted the same color is just some insurance from the paint being damaged by glue after the paint is applied. I even do this on car bodies, but this sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. It worked for my 2009 Dodge Challenger. The front and rear bumpers were attached before painting. You must check to make sure the chassis will fit after the bumpers are attached, there are some kits that you will never get the chassis into the body after the front and rear bumpers are in place.
  15. Who's that? I've never heard of him!! Seriously, though, John, I think both you and Romell are great builders, and I just wish I lived closer to both of you. The work both of you have posted here have made me just want to sit and watch the works of art both of you build come together in person. By the way, I hope you both did well today, and I'd like to see what you entered today as well. How did you do? I hope Gregg took pics of these stunning builds for the magazine!
  16. Sounds like that or it just don't like him anymore!!
  17. Lighten up, Skip! I thought it was about scale parts too, but I about laughed myself out of my chair after I went to the link! Didn't you ever here laughter is the best medicine? It's nice to laugh now and then!
  18. I'd be interested in seeing the stuff, but also not really going to the other site you mentioned. I understand you suggested that because of the no selling rule, BUT you know parts can be traded, too! I have a few big rigs really in need of a good CB!
  19. Yep, pretty much like Randy said, Mike. The only thing I would suggest differently is only use clear plastic and only paint on the inside of the new "window". That way, it still will look like glass on the outside and the paint on the inside if it will replicate really dark tint. If you would do the regular sheet styrene and gloss black on the outside, it would just look like a body painted gloss black, you would not get the look of a window you would from the clear plastic. Also, if you would brush paint the windows, painting the inside of the clear plastic will hide any brush strokes in the paint, and it will have a smooth, glossy finish no matter what type of paint you use.
  20. You ain't hurtin' my feelings one bit, I agree totally! I seen one in the local Walmart parking lot last week with more ground clearance than my 1990 Ford F350 4X4!
  21. Yep, those are the ones I was talking about, thanks for the pic and link, Chucky.
  22. Yes, but just because this forum and supporting magazine is for automotive subjects, it doesn't mean all the members exclusively build just automobiles. That should be evident from the race plane community build project currently going on. Yeah, my collection is 90-95% automotive related, but the other 5-10% is ships, planes, etc., including the plane I have entered in the race plane build. Of course, like you said, there are other forums out there for non auto subjects, but even Finescale has an auto section, too. There are probably many members like me who may build an occasional plane or ship, but would feel like an idiot posting it on Finescale, just as a predominately military modeler who might build one or two cars every 5 years would be embarrassed to post a car here. I don't think that is it at all. I myself have some military vehicles, and most are 2 1/2 ton trucks, but I also have some tanks, bombers, and fighter jets just because I like the particular subject, nothing else. I also have some commerical jets and space craft. I even have a few train kits like this one. I do agree motorcycles are enjoyed by car modelers, too. I have some myself, and maybe adding a section in the car section for them just like the NASCAR and drag car section might be a better idea then just lumping them in the "Other Models".
  23. Mike, thanks for the link! I've been looking for blinker fluid everywhere and can never find it!!
